NEW DELHI: The nearly two-month suspension of visa processing by a large number of countries in India -- in wake of the devastating second Covid wave -- has led to a huge backlog of applicants.
Countries like Canada and Germany, which recently resumed visa processing for certain categories, are witnessing a surge of applications — mainly from students followed by other categories like those going for employment; visiting friends and relatives (VFR) and of course those desperate to travel after months of working/studying at home, — leading to long waiting period for both appointments and then getting the passport back.
