Argentina has seen a surge of AI-generated video, voice, and images related to its current Presidential election and smaller-scale instances of AI political content have already been popping up in Canada. Meanwhile, tech companies like YouTube, Meta and Microsoft are trying to get ahead of what they fear might be coming in next year's U.S. Presidential election. Elizabeth Dubois, a University Research Chair in Communication at the University of Ottawa who studies the use of digital media in politics, tells Brent Bambury how the scale of AI-generated content that's coming could change our elections.
