In South Africa, official government policy and the Constitution, states that women may not be discriminated against and that should continue being the case. But we still have a problem with how women are viewed socially. In addition, they are faced with the adversities of persistent crime, poverty, inequality and unemployment in South Africa and in the Eastern Cape in particular.
