honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.
Lawrence achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four
requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community
forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation, according to information provided by the township.
It is Lawrence Township’s 25th year participating in the program.
“We are extremely proud to be a successful participant in this important program. Preserving the character and nature of our community by having an effective tree management program is a responsibility that we take seriously, and will continue for years to come,” Mayor James Kownacki said in the statement.
