Liga ng mga Barangays (LNB) president Pamela Socorro Azucena said in an interview Thursday that she is urging the 590 barangay captains in the province to conduct home visitation among their constituents to spread words about the program for children. "The barangay captains should make it a point to discuss with their constituents the advantages of the Covid-19 vaccination for their children," she said. Azucena added that it could not be discounted that there are still parents hesitant to have their children be vaccinated or are unaware of the ongoing pediatric inoculation. She said there are 244 eligible children 5 to 11 years old for Covid-19 vaccination in her village, Barangay Idio, in the municipality of Sebaste. These young vaccinees are expected to kick off the program in their municipality on February 21. Meanwhile, Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Nurse 4 Sheree Vego said five towns have started their pediatric vaccination on Feb. 16 after the provincial initial rollout at the Binirayan Gymnasium in San Jose de Buenavista a day before. "There are already 360 children who had their Covid-19 vaccination as of Thursday," she said. Antique, which has a total of 18 municipalities, has a total target of 95,437 children aged 5 to 11 for vaccination. (PNA) }
