Soprano Anna Netrebko has filed a lawsuit in New York against the New York Metropolitan Opera. She accuses the opera house and director Peter Gelb of breach of contract and defamation. The opera house rejected the allegations, saying the lawsuit had "no value" The soprano is now demanding damages of at least 360,000 US dollars (about 330,000 euros) The Met had "inflicted severe mental anguish and emotional suffering" on her, her management says. The singer made her debut at the Met in 2002 and received a fee of around 17,000 dollars (more than 15,000 euro) per performance.
