Animal welfare experts in Spainâs Andalucia warn of âmassive abandonmentâ of Spanish greyhounds after rescuing 31 dogs in one week
So far this year, Galgos del Sur has rescued more than 150 dogs discarded by hunters and galguerosâ the people who own and breed the dogsâbecause they are ânot suitable for huntingâ.

THE Asociacion Protectora de Animales Galgos del Sur has warned this week of the âmassive abandonmentâ of galgosâthe Spanish greyhoundâwhich is taking place in Andalucia.
In just one week, and in Cordoba alone, the association has rescued 31 dogs âdiscarded by galguerosâ the people who own and breed the dogsâas they are no longer useful for huntingâ, of which â27 were of the galgo breedâ.
