In March 2020, the Animal Defense League (ADL) responded quickly to the COVID-19 crisis by implementing safeguards and policy changes to ensure services could evolve and continue to operate safely. They leveraged technology to showcase their adoptable pets online, incorporated an online appointment system for people who still wanted to adopt a pet, and arranged for meet and greets and adoptions to be finalized in an open air environment that respected social distancing.
