While airlines across the globe have temporarily pulled reading material from aircraft cabins and lounges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, one Japanese carrier is making that change permanent. Come April, All Nippon Airways will be switching to a digital format for all printed publications, making them available on the Internet and the ANA mobile app. Physical copies of its inflight magazine Tsubasa Global Wings or any newspapers will no longer be carried on board, thereby reducing the risk of disease transmission through high-touch surfaces while cutting the companyâs carbon footprint by approximately 1,540 tons of paper emissions per year. According to the airline, this will help advance ANAâs commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
