U.S. passenger rail provider Amtrak is continuing a push and feeling more hopeful of seeing a new Detroit to Toronto direct connection in the wake of President Joe Biden’s US$80-billion commitment to rail service under his $2-trillion infrastructure plan released last week.
“What that does is set the stage later this month to release our plans for how that money can be used and lower the barriers that exist to expand Amtrak service,” company spokesman Marc Magliari told the Star on Thursday.
