Amid calls for Boynton Beach to contract with sheriff, city leaders should tread carefully | Editorial

In the wake of a Boynton Beach boy's death during a police pursuit, newly elected Boynton Beach Mayor Ty Penserga called for a vote as to whether to contract for law enforcement with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office. The city commission, largely as inexperienced as Penserga, should take care that such a move is more about protecting the populace than kowtowing to police unions.
