AMES, Iowa — The City of Ames made history Tuesday afternoon when officials opened its very first electric vehicle fast-charging station.
The direct current fast charger (DCFC) for electric vehicles is now located at the Kum & Go at 2108 Isaac Newton Drive. The DCFC can charge cars to 80% in about half an hour.
Those who attended the event were invited to look at EV car displays featuring Tesla, a Chevy Bolt, a Ford Mustang Mach-E and more.
Ames leaders said it's an opportunity to showcase what's possible today when it comes to getting around.
