The American Heart Association has promoted Kristian Hurley to executive director for metro Detroit.
She succeeds Laura Vaughn, who left the organization after two and a half years to become CEO of Grosse Pointe-based Camp Quality USA Inc.
Hurley, 41, has spent the last nine years with the association, most recently serving as senior director of community impact in Detroit.
During her tenure, she co-led the market's board of directors alongside the executive director, led a team of community impact directors and cultivated corporate and foundation partnerships with the Ballmer Group, Michigan Health Endowment Fund and Enterprise Community Partners.
