American Airlines, other major Texas businesses warn state lawmakers that anti-LGBTQ bills are ‘bad for business’

Anti-LGBTQ legislation is not only bad policy, but it’s also “bad for business,” according to American Airlines.
The Fort Worth, Texas-headquartered carrier joined dozens of major Texas businesses and chambers of commerce in a statement released Monday warning state lawmakers that policies targeting members of the LGBTQ community — especially young trans people  — could cause irreparable damage in the state’s economy.
“We are concerned to see a resurgence of efforts to exclude transgender youth from full participation in their communities, to criminalize or ban best-practice medial care that is proven to save lives, or to exclude LGBTQ people in a variety of other settings, including accessing healthcare, filing a prescription, or seeking legal representation,” the statement read.
