Ambulance took over an hour to arrive at life-threatening emergency call 282 times in six months
The HSE's target is for an ambulance to arrive at these calls within 19 minutes.
David Hall is the chief executive of Lifeline Ambulance Service - he says the new figures are alarming:
"By any imagination, those numbers are startling. They would give grave concern to many communities around the country. I think the National Ambulance Service or the HSE have done an outstanding job during COVID, but alternative arrangements should have been put in place had they struggled to cope with life threatening emergencies. Life threatening emergencies are the cornerstone of any provision of an ambulance service, and the HSE needs to have a very serious look at itself and its resourcing."
