May 10, 2021 — All students at New York's public universities will be required to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before returning to campus this fall.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the new requirement for SUNY and CUNY students at a press briefing today in New York City.
"You must have a vaccine to come back [to campus] in September," Cuomo said.
In a statement on Monday, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras thanked the governor for the state's testing and vaccination efforts on SUNY campuses during the pandemic.
