More than a month after the Wood River Electoral Board decided to not boot any of the mayoral or board candidates off of the spring ballot, a judge has ruled in agreement with that decision. Nathan Kincade and Robert Maguire had filed the initial challenges, and followed up with the filings for judicial review by the Circuit Court.
The objections were mostly based on procedural requirements in the filing of petitions, such as using staples versus paperclips. Kincade challenged the candidacy of incumbent Mayor Cheryl Maguire, and council candidates Mike Anderson, Mark St. Peter,s and Scott Tweedy. Maguire challenged the candidacy of mayoral candidate Tom Stalcup and council candidates Melissa Bell-Yates, Jeremy Plank, Mary Roberts, and Mark St. Peters. A hearing was held January 19th.
