Governor Kim Reynolds announced this week that all Iowans 16 years and older will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine this coming Monday.
Iowans 16 years and older can receive a Pfizer vaccine and those 18 and older can get the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Washington County Public Health Administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski says her department is continuing to work through the county’s 65 years and older population, the tiered groups in Phase 1B, and those with underlying conditions first. Once public health is finished with those groups then they will move onto healthy adults, but Pettit-Majewski advises on other ways residents can schedule a vaccine appointment, “So my recommendation is that if you or a loved one falls into that category you can go to vaccinefinder.org to find COVID-19 vaccine locations near you. So that you can find where you might be able to get a Pfizer dose, where you might be able to get a Moderna dose depending on your age and preference. Obviously calling our local retail pharmacies to see if you can get in to be vaccinated, there’s lots of different opportunities for places people can go.”
