When it comes to Foreign Policy everything is unpredictable, so much out of his control. Terrorist attacks are out of his control. Banks in greece are set to reopen on monday three weeks after they closed, this time with more flexible withdrawal limits. Since the start of this debt crisis, its estimated 200,000 greeks have looked for better lives overseas. We spoke to one family in new york. His wife says they are among the lucky ones, able to come to the United States legally thanks to relatives who are u. S. Citizens. Family with two daughters and when you see the situation the economy situation in greece, youre thinking about your child. Here, news of the greek financial crisis is followed closely. Everyone seems to know someone from the old country who is struggling. This neighborhood is experiencing a second wave of greek immigration. The first happened in the late 1940s and early 1950s after greeces civil war. The most recent started about 2010 with the financial crisis. The number of greeks seeking legal residence in the United States has gone up nearly 60 . The numbers overall are relatively small. Less than 2,000 greeks came legally in 2013. Those who work with immigrants as i they see an increase in greeks who come on tourist visas and stay and work illegally. People have no family here, and unless youre related to a citizen or resident here. Its very difficult to actually come here legally whether labor based, or winning the visa lottery. Born in the United States but raised in greece, he decided to come back at the start of the crise reluctantly. The plan is eventually make enough money and go back home, because i consider greece home. Leaving home and family and friends is hard, these immigrants say. If its better economy im going to go tomorrow back. No one has plans to move back anytime soon. Al jazeera, new york. Joining us now is david nelson, a chief strategist with bell point asset management. We appreciate your time. The former great finance minister told the b. B. C. That these Economic Reforms imposed on that its country are going to fail. Do you agree . He may be right. As a matter of fact, head of the i. M. F. Agrees with him that if there is no debt restructure, a haircut on the debt, that ultimately, it will fail. I probably agree with that. Thats not going to happen. Why not . Well, you know, angela merkel, the hardliners in germany will not permit a haircut. I think youre going to see the super rates decline dramatically. The maturities on this debt pushed you so far into the future, it will be an issue a couple of generations from now. Ultimately in the long run im not sure this is going to work out. The simple reason is theres a deep fissure growing inside greece, also within the euro zone. Will the next government that comes in, because i dont know how long this government is going to be in place abide to the sanctions and the new laws and rules that theyll be putting in place right now. So is tsiprass job on the line . Yeah, very much so. He had 39 members of his own party abstain or not vote for this package. You know, it begs the question why the no vote. He walked into the german rather the european negotiation witness a mandate from the people who said no to austerity and in essence he had a gun with no bullets. The European Finance ministers really played hard ball, and there was no haircut and in the end, he ended up with a deal that was more onerous than what the creditors really wanted. Was that all about politics, that vote about show . I think he thought he could come in with a show of force and mandate from the people and think he could push it through. France was certainly on his side. Ultimately, the euro zone and germany could not buckle under. They could not capitulate. If they did it would open up a pandoras box for portugal, spain, italy that would want some kind of quit pro quo in their debt and that wasnt going to happen. What with us going to happen . At this point is greece going to stay in the euro zone and does the euro zone have to do some soul searching . I think the euro zone will have to do some soul searching. You cannot have a common currency without a common government. Beyond that, i think theyre going to get through this, they will remain in the euro zone for now, but have me back on in a year from now we may be talking about Something Different that. In the meantime, the banks are reopened. Thats good news, sure. But still people really can only get 500. I think 420 euros. How long will people put up with that . The capitol controls are still in place. You cant send money overseas. Those are likely to be in place for sometime. Im sure well be calling on you again because this is far from figured out. Thank you very much. Thank you. The first top soccer official in a global Corruption Scandal appeared in federal court today. Its been one week since the Confederate Flag was removed from the statehouse grounds in South Carolina. Now theres a protest and a counter protest. Get excited for the 1989 world tour with exclusive behind the scenes footage all of taylor swifts music videos interviews, and more. Xfinity is the destination for all things taylor swift. Dueling protestors faced off on the statehouse steps of the capitol today rewarding the removal of the Confederate Flag of the statehouse grounds. A counter protest was held. Jennifer london is in colombia. An unexpected rainstorm cleared the crowds. Earlier it was a different story. Just a few hours ago under heavy police escort, members of the k. K. K. And other self proclaimed while Supremacist Group made an early exit as a large crowd booed and record. And condemned their presence. From the stems of the South CarolinaState Capitol dueling protests, the loyal White Knights of the ku klux klan. We are here in support of the Confederate Flag issue and now all of a sudden theyre taking it down. We see this as an assault on white heritage. And the black educators for justice. This is a nation of hypocrisy that is supposed to be democracy, but democracy is hidden under the banner of what we call White Privilege institutional racism and white supremacist. The group claims tiles with the black panther party. We are here not because the klan are supposed to be here. They arent that important are they . Black men and women are being slaughtered daily. We have no more action. Weve run out of solutions. Weve run out of begging for senators to do for us. The competing messages clashing among the crowds. I have my right to talk. The police are working to keep the peace. When one gentlemen waived the Confederate Flag tried to approach the capitol steps, he was told he had to get back. When did they tell you . That they got the rightofway up there and that i need to step back over here. Thats not right. Im just trying to honor my heritage. Im not showing hatred. I was just trying to get out of her way. I didnt do nothing to her. After five decades, it was time for the Confederate Flag to come down. The debate reignited after the shooting death of nine church goers at emanuel a. M. E. Church last month. The 21yearold accused of the killings was seen with the flag. The rally gave hate groups a window back into the conversation. It is an attempt for the klan to become we will havent again. The klan has always been relevant. The numbers are lower than ever before in history. Thats speculation. Its just the amount of people willing into get into the streets is lower now. What does that tell you . A lot of people fear the system fear the government. Still among the shouting, chanting and arguing there were prayers for piece but on this steamy some day on the statehouse grounds its clear. The flag remains a divisive symbol and taking it down doesnt eliminate the underlying racial tension that is made it so polarizing in the first place. The crowds were estimated at 2,000 people. We know right now at least three were arrested. That was Jennifer Ron Don reporting from South Carolina. The director of serve to unitee and former white power skin head joins us. We appreciate your time. I dont know if you were able to listen to all of the report, but she spoke to a gentleman who said dont let the numbers fool you, that there are more people supportive of the clan that are not necessarily out there at the moment. Do you agree with that . The klans always trying to inflate their power and in connection. I think the reporter had a good point, saying how come there arent more people out here. With the nature of media and the internet today it makes it much easier for larger number of people to affiliate themselves with the klans message without actually going out on the streets. What do you make of the 2,000 or so people who turned out today. Would you have expected more or less than that . I think the numbers around surprising. Im disappointed, because the klan really got exactly what they wanted today and that was a hostile response to their presence. What were they after today . The narrative of White Supremacy really dependency on a feeling of persecution so the klan is going to be making a lot of hay out of the Confederate Flag being taken down, saying thats on affront to white heritage. Interesting that they equate i white heritage with slavery but theyre going to spin that to make them and in particular and white people in general look like victims and thats really the purpose of the of the rally. Do you think that they think they will actually have any success in reveries this or is that not necessarily what its about . Theyre probably not under any illusions that theyll get it reversed. Honestly reversing the decision would be a blow to the klan, because as i said, the fact that the flags been taken down is something that theyre going to be really coming back to and capitalizing on. How physically dangerous are they beyond rhetoric and rhetoric can be dangerous. I think as was very straggically i will traded at emanuel a. M. E. Church, the most dangerous element of clan supporters are the loners, the people who feel the real depths of marginalization. When they get together and have groups to associate in, and it sounds crazy but i think theyre less dangerous in a physical capacity than a lone disgruntled white kid can be. How do you nat really a lies them . I believe gatherings such as this, its best not a protest them leave them without protest. Protest is actually much more effective than responding with hostility. If it were up to me, i think responding to the columbia klan rally with an all day carnival style samba party with half neighborhood people dancing and a lot of music going on would be a huge blow to them, rather than screaming in their face. Thank you very much for your in sight. Thank you. Donald trump is taking on arizona senator john mccain. Protestors gathered in 13 states today to ask president obama to stop oil drilling in alaska. Some of the activists brought their message to the white house. The Iran Nuclear Deal has many economic consequences. The plan calls for lifting economic sanctions against ran. That would free iran to increase its Oil Production and that would have a major impact on oil prices around the world and here in the u. S. Joining us from houston is the director of oil and gas at at brokerage firm. What is the time for oil from iran hitting the market . Probably not until late no year and probably production actually will come sometime next year. Well first see oil that they have in storage a lot of it is in floating storage in the sea. That will probably come out first, but not really anything untilled end of the year. How much are we talking about . To start youre probably looking at 5,000barrels a day. That will be sporadic. I think real production will start sometime in q. 2 of next year. What has to happen before all of those things start to happen . Were going to have to see those nuclear restrictions, inspections really take hold. Its a long way away still. I think by then, by the end of the year, well have to see that. Thats when well start seeing real prediction of that ail to come out. Well have to see opec make a decision about what theyre going to do in their production to meet, handle what irans goings to bring to the market then. How will this start to affect oil prices and gas prices . Oil prices probably well see a little bit softness back by then. Again, it all depends on what opec does. If they restrict their production back to allow ran to start exporting more oil it shouldnt be that bad. Gasoline price and jet fuel and diesel prices are going to go up. They have crude Oil Production but dont have refinery production. Their going to be very big buyers of gasoline, jet fuel and diesel fuel. How will it affect china and russia . You see china russia, europe feel the economic benefits of these economic sanctions being lifted especially china and europe. Russia, its a here or there because they have to still deal with their own economic sanctions. When you see other countries like europe and china theyre going to find benefit there. Its about the oil that irans going to start buying. Thats refined products, so thats going to help right away. How will this affect whats happening in syria . Well, you know, iran, we heard today that they are not going to give up on their partners that they have right here and right now. Syria and lebanon theyre going to maintain those partnerships and Going Forward keep those in case anything does happen. If we see niece sanctions come back i think theyre going to need syria in their back pocket. Thank you very much. We will have much more on this ahead in our one hour special on iran. Thank you very much. In southern california, rain and cooler weather helped calm a wildfire that swept across interstate 15 and sent drivers running for their lives. The rallies were peaceful until police fired fear gas and stun grenades at protestors, a show of force rarely used against Israeli Citizens who are not palestinian.
