Your row zone ministers will decide by sunday if a new proposal submitted by the greek government is enough to secure a new bailout. The greek government is promising to raise taxes and clamp down on tax evasion. It will discourage people from retiring early and seek Higher Health contributions from pensioners. And it will privatize two ports. And it is always offering to cut more than 300 million from its military budget by next year. John psaropoulos has been following events in athens. A bit of a rally going on behind you, john. Tell us what that is about. Reporter lauren this is the communist party labor union, this is their rally, their march. What they are doing is presenting themselves as the leftwing alternative to the leftwing government now in power. They have been doing this since the spring since tsipras has started talking about installing painful austerity measures. Its the communists who stepped in to present themselves as the alternative. They are only about 5. 5 of the vote going back to last januarys general election which may seem too small to make any difference. But when Alexis Tsipras took over in 2008 it was only 4. 5 of the vote and it skyrocketed to 16 in just four years. This is what the communists are trying to do. John in the meantime there is a debate going on in parliament. Bring us up to date with how that has been going. Well, inside we have the debate going on on the document that greeks voted no to in last sundays election but within a week here it is again, this time inside the chamber, rather than put to a direct referendum to the people. The difference is this, that the government believes if it goes to brussels. If the Prime Minister travels to brussels on saturday with this document preapproved by the Greek Parliament he will have a strengthened hand in asking credit fors for concessions. The European Commission has promised an investment package worth three times what the austerity cuts are in this package being debated behind me of 35 billion euros, and mr. Tsipras also wants an extension on the schedule during which the country has to repay its debt. Thats really the jackpot, the best thing he can possibly come home with, because if he gets 40 or 50 years, which is what greece wants to repay dhet, then its rendered sustainable. But germany has resisted that so far, because that would involve essentially discounting the debt to inflation, even though nominally it wouldnt be receiving a discount people know it would lose its value over a greater period of time. So mr. Tsipras is now, i think preparing to go to brussels with a very strong hand and to say we have now passed the measures despite the fact that people didnt want them. This is what we want in return. John thank you. Police in the somali capitol believe at least four people are dead after an attack in mogadishu. Alshabab has claimed responsibility for the attack and fighting is now going on inside the hotel. You know somali very well because you have reported from there, what is the latest you have been getting thoenz attacks . The latest is the security situation in both of these hotels is under control. But we dont know if that means the attackers have been killed or cornered in the buildings. So as people were sitting down to break their fast two explosions happened just in front of these hotels. They are not that far apart. They are not that far from the president ial palace. This was followed by heavy exchange of gunfire between the attackers that were alshabab members, and the security guards of these hotels. These hotels are quite popular not just with locals or civilians, but also with officials. One of the hotels is owned by a lawmaker, an mp. We know he escaped the attack. This comes at a time when Somali Government have stepped up security patrols within the capitol and the surrounding areas, but that hasnt stopped alshabab from carrying out attacks like the one we see today. And they seem to have been increasing their attacks. Would that be a Fair Assessment . I was there just before the start of ramadan, and at that time alshabab released a statement promising, or saying that they would step up the attacks during the holy month of ramadan. This is a pattern we have seen before. We have seen in previous ramadans alshabab stepping up their attacks, and carrying out daring attacks in the capitol and surrounding areas. What we have seen recently is Somali Government soldiers and African Union troops withdrawing from towns. Just in the last three weeks, African Union soldiers and Government Troops withdrew from at least seven towns and villages. So this shows that alshabab have been true to their words. So only time will tell if this is a ramadan offensive or just a spike. Okay. Thank you very much indeed. A u. N. Brokers humanitarian trust is set to come into effect in yemen in the next few hours. For many years the Catholic Church more than the state helped make life more bearable but this is seen by some to no longer be the case.
