So we dont have any kind of signals. And also, as we become totally isolated, all this while in Emergency Special session at the United NationsGeneral Assembly on the war is underway on the votes. On a resolution that calls for a durable truth is do i need moment guys that is being strong. The people goes up in shunt underneath it. Among the more a trucks arrive in gaza than us describes the deliveries from that are nowhere near. You know, the, its just pos, 1900 hours jam t, thats 10 pm in gaza and well recap the latest developments. So the strip has been subjective to the largest as really bombardments since the start of the war on october 7th. Israel is bombing residential areas in the north and this center of the strips and the un says civil order has collapsed, is really military spokesman is calling on residents of garza city to move south. But showing is ongoing there as well. And she says the Ground Forces will expand operations 2 nights. Meanwhile, ill to 0 source. So say negotiations are progressing between high loss and israel on a cease fire and Prisoner Exchange deal. These talks are being mediated by cuts are so you can see those pictures, right . There they show several rockets being fired from gaza and to ask milan in southern israel and the rock as our to sets of hidden buildings in the city. Most of its residents have already left officer being told to evacuate by the army. We have talked about zone is joining us live from tanya and s ladies in the nose and in the center of the gods to different residential buildings were leveled to the ground of the medical teams trying to populate the time in order to receive that since a tool now the number of the victims and casualties still unknown. The palestinian minister of health any is kept has to be condition to do to the is really on president the bombardment to different areas inside garza, up now with the ongoing cup to cut out electricity. Because out of the signals and the drop signals in different smartphones inside garza, also palestinians and cannot read, able to communicate with people around the world. But even between them, inside the be surgery, what is happening with the ground is giving a clue sign that there was something is prepare, it has been prepared for the business start or maybe there is going to be any possible Ground Invasion as we can clearly hear the sound of history from buttons in the eastern areas of the territory. Also the novel forces of the easily the occupation launching different kinds of compartments against the coastal line of the chair. A treat uh the number of victims whose has rise and to move down a 7000 pounds thinking skills would move that 18000 others. And so in did this with these really ongoing attacks the, this number is potentially will increase within the coming hours of the Current Situation of the ground is completely kalsich. Palestinians are really desperate with the ongoing is fairly close to avoid this and even with the limited number of humanitarian aid that has been delivered to the territory. What we can say thats now 2300000 policy is isolated from the world waiting for further developments in the network in order to know how to communicate with others and even with the international community. This is the Current Situation of the ground in gauze. Thank you so much. Talk about some reporting for us from con eunice over in gauze i. Were going to stick with gaza for a moment. You can see the pictures. These are the latest pictures, in fact, where you can see the bombardment taking place in the strip and were going to bring in stuff less to into fluids. Hes reporting for us from the north of guys, us up watts. Thats where youre talking to us from just tell us what youve been seeing and hearing because we understand that israel has intensified as bombing of gauze of the past few hours. Yes we, we learned that the, the, im under this is, is want us to find out if in the last 3 or 4 hours that the army is cutting out the limited operations in the north and, and east of god, the city im in the north of the strip Diesel Limited operations with county. So course as far as we are, the understanding of a could be patient for a wider operation or that might completed. Im to go home depression, but the still there is no indication of ground or persian we. We could see the, the flash or the flashes of the e, a 8 that artillery or, or the strikes in the north of the Garbage Group on, even in the city itself, is specifically at the eastern side of gaza with the army. And those that are really uh beyond the start, god operating gutting, go. Cultural, publishes so uh, stuff, lots of, earlier on. You had also been reporting that there were reports of explosions that were coming from the seas. Not to the long going that i am to i am 200 meter i only by the way from the sea. I could also come next to use coming from the sea, but we dont know where all these shows up where they are lending specifically in the lot of the god just kind of i am in the central area, but i uh, from the top of my building i can see the flashes on the exclusions either from the gallery or from the ice dikes but limited. The navy shows landing and, and uh, western, uh, uh, you bought the city on the north of the sofa to wendy is really a military spokesman said just a few hours ago that uh they, he came up and spoke for the 2nd time in fox said that they are expanding their ground operations and now now you seem to be reporting that there are some limited operations using tanks and in the northern part of off of gaza. Has there been any response from cassandra gays or anyone from, from us to, to what a to the comments that were made by the is really spokesman. Or we could see you are okay to do it fired from dog line to is it a southern they go on even knows with bloomgreen, toyota and to the, to leave on different are la area over there. Do i do the fighting groups are still able to mobilize, done work based on the defect in advance before the operations or the for that that they get it out in october 7. This is an indication that today that i, you know, um, i think they said the clean them for structure of the finding gold since they are able to fire freely or whenever theyre one. Ah, a little unsure to arrange a real good story to go on to the whole infrastructure which is on the ground. The, the, the kinda looks a lot of time to go on are still able to prevent the units from cutting out the patients. This means that this is the fighting goals, dont go to the infrastructure of the fight, didnt go onto the stone on the big. 1 1 2 2 never or move but i carry all the. 2 whatever they want on the way be, want stuff like while i have you with us, just update us on the situation with the telecommunications lines because we understand that people are disconnected from each other. And certainly they seem to be disconnected from the outside world. Restoring thought you have anybody in the state because more than a 1000000 and a half of the of, of the population of guns are being moved from south a lot on from north because to search the king, shell go seeking a fee for a favor, please. So i think so in the last 3, our people are unable to communicate both to stay in touch with relatives. They appeared on sort of the fun to uh, especially after the explosion on the uh, the used to do that cuz the wing and the during the 3 week 12 is, are you or now is it, is it, i didnt even our colleague thought of who is most getting 20 kilometers from his family. Hes hes, i believe the father, hes very much what i have been receiving also calls from people who are living in europe or, or abroad on the time to go to you and god. The could stay in touch with them to make sure that god is going to life and know people say we are still alive. Nobody phase. We are, we, we are final, we are good. So that its fear that this, this is uh, preparation for something bigger. But there is, nobody knows what is this oppression of the big operation or what is this big thing thats coming up. So theyre coming dollars out of important here for the policy in using the fund that is done. What really the preparation of preparing the, from our experience choose option, either either the ground, the person will start soon, or there is a, the issue inches that started for the start as well. Well, uh, we will see the results in the coming gallery. So these are the 2 options that we understood from our past experience. Okay, so 1st well let you go for now we thank you so much. Thats stuff. Whats up to here . Whats reporting for us from gaza . We are going to take you live, to the United Nations, look at this live picture right there. So the un General Assembly is due to votes on a resolution. And this resolution calls for humanitarian truce and gaza, which would hopefully lead to a cessation of hostilities between israel and how mass. So what we understand is going to happen is that theres going to be a 1st load, in fact, on an amendment that canada and the us had wanted to add the words quotes from us to the initial resolution. So we believe that there will be a vote 1st on the amendment, and then the resolution will also be put forward to a vote. So once the voting begins, we will cross back to the United Nations and see how that transpires. Well, earlier the spokesman for the un secretary general stefan does or it says the needs and gaza are growing more critical, the humidity are in the system, and garza is facing a total collapse with unimaginable consequences for more than 2000000 civilians. As the bombing intensifies needs are growing ever more critical and colossal, about 500. 00 trucks per day, were crossing into gaza before the concert theyll hostilities began in recent days. But an average of only 12 trucks per day have been able to go in despite needs being far greater than they were at any time before. The secretary general welcomes the growing global consensus for humanitarian, paused in the conflict, and he repeats his call for humanitarian cease fire. The unconditional release of all hostages and the delivery of live saving supplies at the scale needed misery is growing by the minute. Without a fundamental change that people have gaza will face an unprecedented avalanche of human suffering. Everyone must assume their responsibilities. This is a moment of truth. History will judge us. Well, we heard from the head of the governments media office and gaza. Us who spoken earlier. Athens schiffer hospital and he strongly denied israels accusations the how much is using the hospital as a sealed for its tunnels. I know what id like to see that a hospital compound is home to more than 60000 displays best and thousands of victims. And so, and patients and thousands of medical crews, in addition to the relatives of the victims, along with the present, that they have of dozens of International Media outlets with the base. Good. Because it proved that the phones allegation raised by these, right. If your patient policies are fab rotated, they are talking the medical facility that is providing a lifeline to the victims of theres a, the president s that as theyve been hearing the spokesman for the is really army, had said earlier that they will expand their ground operations in gaza on friday night maybe should flip people in addition to the topics that we carried out in recent days before the Ground Forces are expanding, direct and save. You take this evening. The idea is acting with great false on all levels, to achieve the objectives of the wall. I told them in the home, were going to take you back now to the United Nations in new york, listening to the resolution. What you found was meant to be drunk at on each of the 10s Emergency Special session of the General Assembly is called to order. The General Assembly will resume its consideration of agenda item 5, entitled illegal is rarely actions in occupied east jerusalem. And the rest of the occupied palestinian territory in the light of the decision taken by the General Assembly earlier today to suspend the debates on the agenda item this afternoon. The assembly shall know, proceed to consider the draft resolution, a slash e s 10 slash l 25. An amendment a stroke e s 10 slash l 26. Before proceeding fluid a i would like to inform members that the draft resolution and the draft amendment have closed for the sponsorship and i know give them the floor to the representative of the secretariat. Thank you, mr. Presented me for before the president give the full uh, full explanation of the vote. Before the vote. I should like to announce Additional Correspond says on of both of the 2. It will documents fast on it will 26. 00. So send me some of the draft resolution and in addition to that, it gave some of these things on the document. The Foreign Countries have also become co sponsor as of a says e s 10. So thats l 25. Bear with us bull street in belgium. So gary, you know, barely this edition was supposed to have full l. 2525. 00 Additional Co sponsors by hiring bound gladish berries for the national state. The body via both savannah, who neither of them homeless cuba, democratic peoples republic of korea, to booty, egypt, el salvador, in asia, iraq, joe, them. And im, im, im, so those are, you know, as long as im very sorry. Have those well already on the l document. Additional corresponds as i do by john, bahamas, chad, china gumby, a chemo listed, and you got and again, Additional Cost bone cells in addition to those numbers. And well document as they will buy them. Bahamas, chad, china, gun via chemo list it and who got and if any of the countries reach to correspond to 825. Okay. Well move away from that for just a moment and get some analysis with our diplomatic editor james base whos here with us and go ahead. So james, just talk us through what we were just listening to and what we expect to happen, youll seeing how the General Assembly works and it sometimes can be a little bit k all take. We have 2 Different Things that are going to be put to the, but we have the original draft resolution drawing up by the arab group of countries at the United Nations, which is cooling for an immediate, durable, and sustained humanitarian truce. This is the resolution, while theyve just done is go through the names because some, some Additional Countries have said they want to sponsor this as well. And most, no to be china is either this name a rush or is already a sponsor, as is took the, as is a number of other key countries. Thats the one resolution. Then there was an amendment. This is the amendment which is also going to be voted on this as an amendment that is being produced by canada. And then we learned a couple of hours ago that the us also a co sponsoring this amendment. Now what, why is that with the amendment . We heard the Us Ambassador to the United Nations and ended thomas greenfield said there were things that were missing from this a resolution. And she said that was a clear condemnation of her mouth. Naming him ask us a mass is not named in the arab resolution. And also a condemnation of i quote the taking of hostages and the resolution of those, the demands, the safety wellbeing and she mean main treatment of those captors being held. So those are the 2 volkswagen to see if itll take some time. I think the procedure, i think thats what were also going to have um from what theyve just said is some additional system sims statements before the 2 lights. So were going to have some speeches in environment from a couple of the countries who are proposing this, notably jordan, who is proposing the original resolution on canada whos proposing the amendment. So i would just like to not going to actually see the votes probably right. So 20 minutes or so it would be my guess. Okay, just one more for you because you brought up jordan a moment ago and weve had some comments from the jordanian for him. Is minister who says the voting against the era resolution, presumably the, the original resolution means quote, approving the senseless war, the sense was killing. Yeah, well, i mean, i think the, the arab nations have made it very, very clear how important they feel this moment is. I have to say at the same time though, we seen in the last couple of hours, in fact what the us on bus that was speaking. We saw the communication cations caught in goals that result reports. Theyve been telling us from that. And we saw that bombardment that 30 very big bombardment we now know from these, right, these, that there intensifying a ground operation. So does this resolution have any chunks of tracing of troops . I think these right, these are showing that the funds of this whole process. And ill get to go ahead with the military options whatsoever. But why this is important still is this is taking the temperature of the world. Unlike the Security Council, whether roadie 15 nations on in the un General Assembly, every single country has a member site to the u. S. 193 countries. All right, presented every single country will have the jobs, electronic voting to press a button shortly. And well see where they stand on the war and gaza. Thats why this is important. Yeah, im just for clarity. I mean, this resolution is in fact non binding. But as were saying, its sort of going to test the, the barometer of world opinion. Absolutely, and thats why its important, but i dont think its going to change in the thing. Im afraid to say, even though in the Security Council they havent of achieved in the thing they. Im still working on a resolution to fight motors during the negotiation, trying to get a compromise because everything is either failed in the Security Council being featured in the Security Council. This was no thing though, is that even if the Security Council go to resolution, which is supposed to be Binding International law, there are so many resolutions in the Security Council, the israel does not have the goals. Thank you, james. Lets cross by something you wanna listen to the jordanian ambassador for just a moment. Regressions on behalf of the abdul. This resolution is brought forward the ends of the tense Emergency Specialist session agenda. Item 5, addressing illegal is really actions and occupied east jerusalem. And the rest of the bypass to me instead of 3, it has gotten a close sponsorship from 4 to 7 Member States of this esteem. General assembly is the president of the situation. And that is dia, a kind of ties by immeasurable suffering with the front of the month of human rights and the dignity of its people have been violated in blatant disregard of international law. The consequences of indiscriminate violence, the loss of confidence, innocent lives, and the extensive destruction of the civil infrastructure destined to leave a lasting mark on generations to come. Since that option of the cycle of violence and conflict on 7th, october over 7000. 00 palestinians, innocent palestinians have tragically lost their lives, including women, children, Elderly Health for cuz due and stuff. The urgent need for an immediate cease fire to enter this prolong tragedy and create a path towards Diplomatic Solutions cannot be over status of a state to, as it is not merely ill responsibility. But the profound model obligations to champion the cause of peace and lots of these competitive come stances, as we all are witnessing a Ground Invasion conducted by, as i am, as we speak. And the absence of what is on what action by the United NationsSecurity Council. 4 times so far over, draft resolution, possess infinity advice of going when the alliance with the very purpose for which the United Nations was established. Peace and completeness with international law. This was an ocean addresses the intensifying violence in gaza strip the rest of the class, but its to me instead of 3, including east juice. And its cause for an immediate, enduring and unwavering humanitarian to us. Ultimately leading the cessation of hostilities and the minds. And he had a sense of national law, especially concerning the saved, not being of civilians, human italian personnel, you and stuff, and essentially the facilities this, the solution emphasizes the crucial necessity of admin fee, the to many getting access to life saving essentially such as foot water medical supply supplies fuel authentic tricity for the civilian population and gaza. More of what it please for the immediate and conditional release of captive and disclose the imperative of the protection of civilians and humanitarian infrastructure. This proportion of the impact of the conflict on by the rules encompassing women children, individuals with disabilities and elderly to the model that as an ocean underscore is that the only viable part for is a 2 state solution. We looked at the input of minute 10 and 200 solutions and international, and i time of crisis and uncertainty, this path for this whole, for the just and lasting peace. Finally, i would like to remind dedications that is it i a, is it a sponsible for the i thought that this, that ive been committed now, and thats would be commented in the ground. Invasion of gaza do not support any effort to legitimize such as. And also these as we, ive seen, you know, in a proposal that separate traits wi torch such unlawful and hard on this aggression against the Palestinian People and gaza. In this context, i called for the hold on kind of does amendment l 26. Thank you president i sent the representative of jordan for his statement and i know you have the flow to the representative of canada. Thank you very much, mr. President. We meet here today to take action and to show the people of gaza and the people of israel that we see their plight, the devastation they are facing. And the need to find ways to get more urgent, help to them, give them the gravity of their despair and to deal with the causes of that despair. Any life lost is a tragedy. There is no hierarchy of death. Yet the critical reason for how we got here has already been forgotten by so many as if it never happened. But just 2 weeks ago, how much terrorist killed over 1400 is rileys is not even mentioned in the comments by my friend from from jordan, with their own hands in weapons and read shared terror of the people of israel. The ongoing threats of amass iran, its proxy has the law and others continue to hang over the entire region since that day. October 7th, over 7000. 00 palestinians. And just 3 days ago when i spoke to the Security Council, it was over 5000. So we can see the, the need for a Rapid Response from this organization to deal with the humanitarian crisis. Those have been living under her masters tyranny, had been killed, and over a 1000000 are displaced. This is what has prompted this body, this Emergency Special session into action neutral countries. So these that followed cause you set a date for a part of a doctor problem call until they come out to a new summer county. So ill just say is that fall key or something ma, meet the menu a cause you dont have them a little text, a melodrama. The canada pursuits a nickel to text support. Okay. Like you need talk to at mom proposing, as its currently proposed to noon to prove a positive g around. We cannot solve these items. It has a General Assembly. The united day shows look on that without to lead to acknowledging and mounted terrible defense. So the 70. 00 hills article during the day and he with after these condemning, he also terrace. So you who are responsible for the original quote i cannot have. That is why. So that is the representative to canada speaking at the United Nations. Right now we have with a sort of magic attitude james base, talk us through what we just heard from canada and, and then well get onto what we heard from the georgia and investment. Yeah, you actually have to think of the very most experienced diplomats that you can find in the United Nations. Bob bray speaking now the investor of, of canada. And so hes putting forward the amendment to the jordanian arrow, the resolution he is making. The point that you heard the us and best to make of the wrong is that the resolution is missing. A vital piece in the, in the, in the view of those 2 countries and i suspect some of the other western countries, they say that her mouth must be named full, the events that took place on the 7th of october. And they want the word hostages. In the resolution, thats why one simple line is been put into the resolution this amendment, which they wont put in in the sa, so the resolution. And that does not actually mean that any of the rest of the rest of the resolution comes out. It just as it is, is an addition and the additional element they wanted added, which means that even if not amendment was put in, you would still have the General Assembly cooling for an image it durable of sustained c spot and to modern immediate continuous sufficient and unintended provision of a central goods and services which interestingly includes reconnecting, the water, food, medical supplies, fuel, and electricity. Where does the General Assembly stand on this amendment . Where does the General Assembly stand on the rest of the listen without the amendment . Were gonna find out 1st where the amendment pauses and then theyll vote on the resolution either amended or not, right . I have to say weve been working the phones and speaking to lots of diplomats and its pretty unclear where this is going to go. Were going to watch very closely. Yeah, lets watch for a moment. Were fine in german. Bassett or master is unleashed. We continue to call for the Immediate Release of hostages and demand that they and all civilians be treated with compassion and humanity. 41 Member States have nationals being held hostage. What is on deniability and ongoing, ongoing war crime has to be brought to an end. We all understand in this chamber that war has rules. We share a common obligation to protect civilians to respect International Humanitarian law. Ensure that 8 workers are safe, guarded in all circumstances. Civilian deaths and gaza, including of employees of the United Nations itself, are tragically unacceptably high. And we urge the steps required to deal with the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation. Unimpeded access to assistance is essential, which is why we specifically endorse the need for humanitarian pauses. We come in the United States rejection and is really efforts to allow the 1st deliveries if you met a terry and assistance through the rafa border crossing. This has been a positive 1st step, but much more is required and much more needs to be done. Up to date, weve committed 60000000. 00 from canada and humanitarian assistance. Several go to trusted. You went in red cross partners who will help address immediate needs on the ground. We will continue to ensure that our support helps provide food, water, and other live saving assistance to those who need it most. As we look at the region in its entirety, it is crucial that the violence we are witnessing and israel and gaza does not spread further to the west bank or elsewhere. But fragile situation along israels northern border with lebanon, disconcerting to all of us, and more than ever, regional escalation remains a real threat. It is our hope, the neighboring countries are not brought even deeper into this conflict. To be clear, mister president , canada supports the rights of israelis and palestinians to live side by side in peace. And in security. Case steps must be taken to ensure that we take this past and this terrors ending ending this terrorist attack. After we have had the courage to name it and ending the power of terrorist organizations in the region, has to be one of the steps that we can all agree needs to be taken. This is why emerging all of you to support this amendment. Which brings balance to the resolution and names. What must be named. What we are proposing is factual. And it is fair. If our amendment is adopted, it will allow many Member States to support the text as a whole, including canada. Thank you mister president. I found the distinguished representative of canada for his statement and i know invite baptist on the distinguish representative of the boxes done to take the flow. All right, so well move away from the general, somebody for a moment and get some analysis with our diplomatic attitude. Change base of james or the ambassador from canada, putting forward their argument as to why they want this amendments in the original resolution. Absolutely. And again, you will now hearing when youre right around whos the ambassador of pocket stone. Thats another one of the original sponsors, the original resolution. So hes gonna make points pretty similar to what we heard from the joe 99 bass. The just backing that up. My understanding its moving people the way to general summary works and even even with the last minute you can say, well i want to speak next so we could get someone else added. But the moment pockets tom is the last speaker. Before we see these 2 votes, so i think were going see these, these 2 votes of 1st on the amendment then on the resolution, either amended or not. Were gonna see these, these 2 votes in the next few minutes to see how the will stacks up. See what the world makes of the situation. And so i suspect its interesting how the events of the last couple of hours, the fact that israel is coming out this bombardment. The fact that is around is cut off the communications and cuts off garza from the outside world. How olds that is going to impact the decisions of these countries. Because clearly the development to be the very, very fast moving. They only came back from the lunch break for this session about 35 minutes ago. And i think in the 1st session before that lunch break, they werent really aware of what was going on on the ground in this bump bump. And so they will, i think all of. Busy and bassett is, would have been briefed by the diplomats by the start off about whats happened and will not have an impact on the decisions that were going to be safe with. Going to see made in that boat, which i think is coming up pretty shortly. Now, right in james, we also heard from the Georgia Union in boston or before the canadian and bassett or speaking, want to be the sponsors of the the original resolution. What did he have to say . Yeah, this is a mood. How many i mood, my mood, who is a very experienced diplomat. In fact, he was a, hes been most of the last decade hes been at the United Nations. Was the joe dining deputy and boss the when jordan was on the Security Council and then went back to him on for a bit and now very experienced and passed the back in the chair as the ambassador of jordan. Hes the one whos been doing this very, very detailed work on behalf of the, our group of countries of trying to get this resolution together. And theyve been working on this intense negotiations for days. What i think that our group of hoping to achieve what he said and in the resolution was a very clear signal of where the will stands on the Current Situation as clear condemnation of israel, but also a, as an effort to try and get this humanitarian truth israel low as showing by its its actions on the ground that its not this thing. Okay, james, thank you so much for the time being. Well cross back to you as and when these votes start to take place. We can now speak to across to the us and bring in the pentagon Spokesman Brigadier general patrick rider. Welcome child to 0. Thank you for this your time and speaking to us. If i may start off with whats happening in israel and the announcement that was made by the, by the military Spokes Person earlier on saying that theyre expanding their ground operations in gaza from what you understand not to be. What does this mean . Yeah, sure. Well, certainly were monitoring the situation, but as im sure you can appreciate, im really not going to be able to speak to is really operations or potential operations or planning timeline. So id really have to refer you back to them to discuss that. But, but to does this mean that theres going to be a widening of operations . Is there going to be a ground defensive . Well again, im not in a position to speak for israel. I can tell you what our focus is on is 3 fold. Number one is making sure that we understand what israels defense needs are when it comes to protecting themselves from potential future attacks by him us. But also more broadly speaking, we continue to work with partners in the region to ensure that we can deter a wider conflict. And this is why youve seen us. Same capabilities like our aircraft carrier, straight groups, both into the mediterranean and one going to the Central Command area of responsibility. And then also importantly, ensuring that we have the capabilities that we need to protect our forces. Who are conducting missions completely separate from anything to do with the situation in israel . What would a whitening of operations and does that mean for the us as well . Yeah. And im not going to speculate or get into hypotheticals, we fully understand and support israels right to defend itself from terrorism. Importantly, in our conversations, we are also making sure that that theres a, an understanding about the importance of the laws of war and protecting innocent civilians. More broadly speaking from a Us Government standpoint, weve been coordinating closely with israeli and egyptian officials to ensure humanitarian aid can get into gaza. That remains an important effort. But again, broadly speaking, what we dont want to see is this conflict escalate into a broader regional conflict. And so again, were going to stay very focused on that effort as well. You were mentioning that us as sensing battles leads into the mediterranean and moments ago and youre right. The us has sense, i believe, to, and we understand that President Joe Biden at the beginning of this war when he visited tel aviv he himself sat in on and is really war cabinet meetings. It how, how involved is the us in israels military operations. And also whats the message that the us is sending out by sending these plates to the mediterranean arms by sending troops . Yeah, so to answer your 1st question, were not involved in military israels military operations. What we are doing is providing Security Assistance in terms of capabilities that be as early as have requested in order to enable them to protect themselves from terrorist attacks by a mos in terms of those discussions. You know, we have a long standing relationship and partnership with israel. And so certainly its not new that we would share information after the october 7 attacks. Of course, we rushed to assist israel in terms of finding out what their needs are. But also importantly, making sure that we understood the situation on the ground more broadly as it pertains to, to guys in terms of those ships that were sending into the region. Those are there again to serve as a deterrent message to any state or non state actor who might try to exploit this situation and, and broaden the conflict again. That is the absolute opposite of what we want. But those capabilities provide us with the options to a wide range of contingencies. Should they occur . Do you believe that what israel is doing right now and gaza is protecting israel . A lot. Israel was attacked on october 7 or 1400 civilians, brutally murdered, 200 hostages. It is the largest terrorist attack on that nation since its founding. And so again, as a long time and long standing, staunch partner of israel, we are going to assist them to protect and defend their people. But were also are very cognizant of the fact that theyre innocent palestinians who are caught in the crossfire of this. The common denominator here is a mosse that has taken a page out of isis playbook, brutally killing 1400 is re lease and also subjugating the Palestinian People in gaza in terms of using them as human shields and putting them in the middle of this. And so again, from the us standpoint, ultimately we want to see both palestinians and israelis living and piece together. And we will do that. But in the, in the near term right now, what were focused on is ensuring again that this does not broaden into a broader regional conflict. Then ensuring that our is really partners have what they need to protect their people. All right, well leave it there for now. We thank you so much, Patrick Ryder for speaking to us from washington dc. And lets just take you back to the United Nations about as the General Assembly going on right now, theyre meant to be voting on a resolution we can bring in our corresponding Gabrielle Gabrielle is on the joining us from the un headquarters in new york. And gabriel, while we keep an eye out on whats happening at the General Assembly itself, i know that the u. N. Chief has been making some comments. What did you have to say . Yeah, thats right. About half an hour ago. Almost. Exactly, at the moment that diplomats were going back into the General Assembly room. You see behind me the secretary general, antonio gutierrez, sent out a message on social media reading part. The humanitarian system in guys is facing total collapse with unimaginable consequences. The statement went on by the secretary general to say, i repeat my calls for humanitarian sees fire in the middle east, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the delivery of life saving supplies at the scale needed. The statement goes on to say, every one must assume the responsibilities. This is a moment of truth. History will judge us all, perhaps not a coincidence that that statement was sent out almost at the exact time as diplomats were going into the room behind me to cast their important vote. So gabriel, and as for the General Assembly and whats happening there, when do we expect the votes to to begin . Oh, i think i see on our screen the the boat is taking place. Let me bring in our diplomatic editor and james base for just a moment and its james. I know youre keeping an eye out on that as well as we know whats, whats happening right now, and is this the vote on the 1st resolution . Yeah, this is the vote on the 1st resolution and what happens is they vote electronically. So you see the vote start tossing off. So we dont think weve got the actual total yet. But i see 88 in favor, 55 against the label. And the extension is 23. 00. And just to be clear, this is the vote on the amendment by on the use. This is the results. What weve got on the amendment right, that adds to the resolution, the condemnation of a mass which was not specified that how much was not mentioned in the original jordanian resolution, a still a t h in favor of 55 against 23 extensions. I think that might be the final figure that seems to have settled out that im not let me just, im just double checking what were actually looking at a 100 percent by looking where that we all the vote in favor. 88. 00 against 55. 00 extensions. 23, so that i think means that the amendment has not been carriage. Its my understanding of what weve seen that the amendments has not been carried. So then what does this mean the means theyve been going to vote on the actual resolution. The jo damien proposal of the resolution, which was proposed by jordan on behalf of the our group. Lets just listen to them as follows. In favor 88 against 55 abstentions, 23. Having failed to obtain a suit, 2 thirds majority of members present and voting, draft amendment a stroke, e s 10 l 26 is not adopted the right time. So just talk us through what this means now for the amendment that was put for the amendment. Just dead thats gone, thats gone. We think we can forget about the end of the amendment of i think there was some western countries and stick with us. Were hoping they could get the amendment through and then the whole resolution would be amended and then they focus on that. That amendment is, is, is, is not that. What will now need to see is whether there is a 2 thirds majority for the original resolution, which is not, not now being amended, which will have no mention, no direct mention of mass, but does coal for an immediate durable and sustained c spot and calls for immediate humanitarian aid, including a resumption of water, electricity, and delivery. So mean that, as well as not allowed because they say its julie use delivery of fuel. Were going to see, i think, at the moment the Security Council is going to focus on that for months. E true e s n. As in n stroke, l 26 is not adopted. We shall proceed to take a decision. On draft resolution a stroke, e s 10 stroke l 25. The assembly will now take a decision. On draft resolution a stroke e s 10 stroke l 25 include protection. So whats happened at the u. N. Is that amendment has not passed. So once the voting begins on the original resolution, we will cross bostic you to the you when we need to take and talk about assume he has an update from tanya, doesnt god media final or the holistic grounds agent . This is considered to be as a partial invasion to the territory for a limited space inside the gaza strip. They have been, uh, they have been encountered by different fi is what made by the palestinian. Ill fight, isnt that surgery launching to onto typing cycles against the is what the us in the re stationed of course, the boat is also the boom. Buttoning continued in eastern areas of a shes yeah. Yeah. All the eastern areas that because trip is similar. They wouldnt specify apartment as a clearly i couldnt hear right now at the back of grounds in addition to the coastal mine of the gaza strip in the near area, which also witnessed a different as to a different strikes made by the study of the patient forces the ongoing situation on the ground right now in the future 3 is the causes trick is witnessing a mess would be to ration in different aspects with the ongoing, a disconnection of, uh, Network Phone networks and a with being a fully isolated from the world. Now palestinians cannot really connect with each other, they dont have any further information about the conditions of their relatives, the friends and even the family members. Uh for me personally, if theres a problem to contact with my family members, we are so desperate right now. And terms of the ongoing is really up abutment which really destroyed difference to the communications. How is, of course, the Deceased Church rates, the Current Situation of the ground is really terrifying. Are the, the, the ongoing is very, i talk soon to be see treachery caused massive destruction for super listening tool building complete. Nate, the whose level to the ground deductible has rising to more than 7000 palestinians killed and with more than 18000. Others means it till now. The medical teens are facing great difficulty to reach access to multiple strikes. Locations are due to the is really mess up abutment and become really till now i figure out the exact number of casualties as is well keeps bouncing. The deceased chart treat. Thank you. Okay, so that is the thought about us on reporting for us from tanya and us and garza and you were looking at the light fixture from does as well. You can see that its been plunged into darkness pretty much will bring in by the one beside our. Hes all just there. A senior political analyst, hes joining us by skype from london to tie everything together in my want. Because there are a lot of moving pieces and there have been a lot of development. So what we have is guys really plunged into darkness. We have the, its really military spokesman who announced that theyll be expanding their ground operations. We have a resolution thats being voted on at the u. N. And we also heard a few hours ago that there could potentially be some sort of ceasefire and Prisoner Exchange deal between israel and him. Us thats being mediated by, by cuts are how do you explain all of this . Thats a lot of points to explain. Yeah. But uh, you know, lets just start with what we just heard. The stock price dollar. We heard this rate is canadians and americans, 100 people to dance. And clearly they are trying to frame the crisis that we are living. And they are a life of its really bombing drowning. Garza drumming cries, coming. Got a dozen products reports out of guys guys. Suffering is crying out for help. But the sound of bombings, the sounds of the, of are the canadians of these res, im drowning the suffering that its not reaching but as of the world because we are whole be occupied with a few said would be, im sure, at the United Nations with americans sound bites that are just on all of it. This option you heard from the physical spokesperson say youre not out there for this out. Its not the white in the war. But there, the appointments will still address counting years is why getting the coffee, their shoes. The move is right is i love them. Is this genocide, to continue on a basically you guys on americas pressing spend complicity with this right . Is but today, right . In the call, the canadian ambassador speaks that there is not hierarchy. I wont even be the ones from the national tax. Fine. What youre going to talk about the combination of is right, an extra genocide kind of sign. So there is a part of a hierarchy as this kind of thing is our people, lets have god. Because this has been different. Theyre going the yeah matter cuz and youll be is response to what is going on. Because let me tell you something. We are covering events all over 20 star. Everyone wants to start history over 7 as the canadian investors attracted to we are here because this of the 7 know missed that im not sure that we are not here because looked over. So if somebody has a bit of a longer memory, then 20 days and the stuff is there for was because we now understand that that general us um, the resolution has been approved. So im going to bring in our diplomatic editor, james, based on a moment and hell talk us through some of the numbers. But im reading right now that has been approved. This resolution calls for humanitarian truths and gaza. Whats your response to that and, and what messages is it sending out non binding, of course, but what sort of message theres a send out. Well, let me preempt juice by saying that this is a symbolic uh, somebody come forth this for this resolution, but it doesnt have a muscle whatsoever. And i think the comment saying, and is, are there going wisdom is right to us. Its history is the front of the world can say. Ready what it must be with. Ready what we want is, this is, this rate is wisdom throughout the 75 years or so. And this one continues to be today asset. This was a nation. Thats why quickly let me suggest the following is all does not follow through. Does not accept this edition of bye bye. Its like you did not abide by congress. Hundreds of you, im general. I sent those are usually on dozens of the, on the security, the cost of the by can we find that the say that is a, is it as a company in great a breach of international law, or do you understand uses but any other country in the world but it goes on to install the wants to go to the general that goes on to bad you and youre like this is stuff from. Busy from having these are still intact, as i find a sign. Can you say that this country, the 1st 3 years just by the admissions should be censure . Should be frozen, should be a risk or monday, whatever james, for, for that might be should be expensive. Somebody not sitting there just as being the company in the great yes, most historic breach of the United Nations resolutions and international law. Thats every political question. Okay. Yes, we are at the moment where there is a symphonic victory. We know from history that is read. We go on with it was the, the world say what it was like as much what we would do, what we want. Okay. And it could. Ready that genocide think garza thank you so much for the time being little on bizarre speaking to us from london, lets bring in a james once again. So what, what are you hearing about the numbers or what are you seeing . What were seeing, we seeing the numbers on the board there in, in the United NationsGeneral Assembly. A very interesting boat, as we said, all along. We dont think his route is going to do anything about this boat. Theyve shown that on the ground while the un Security Council has been taking place. Theyve shown defiance of this whole process by the bombardment, by cutting off communications and signaling that this is the beginning of an expanded ground offensive bought. This was a moment where all of the world, 193 nations, had to show where they stood on this war. Got confused, i think a little by the men bins and everything else. But we now know where will those countries stand . And it was in favor of the resolution, 120. 00 countries against 14. And then the loss of extension is 45. 00. So if you look at the number of people forward against it, the 2 sides majority just got in the 2 thirds majority. So the resolution has passed the general assemblies had it say, i think it was me just quickly telling you who voted against a doubt, because obviously israel voted against the us voted against among the other 14. There are not a, certainly not all of the of the us is close allies. Well that with the us in fact from voted in favor of this resolution. The u. K. Abstained on the resolution of germany, abstained on the resolution. So it is interesting, they think the us did not. Is that a surprise, the way the to the front and germany of all departments from spoke to it in favor . I mean, i think it is interesting from spoke to didnt favour though in the Security Council when the us using its vito and on that occasion again the u. K. Abstained. I think, you know, everyone have to say where they stood on this occasion. And the us and some 13 other countries, including israel, ive said that they are not in favor of a curable truce at this time if that amendment wasnt part of the resolution. So theyve, theyve had a chance to say where they stand, even once they knew what was going on this evening while they were meeting on the ground in gaza. Thats heavy, a bombardment, then all the heavy bombardments that weve seen over 3 weeks over 7000 People Killed over the 3000 children, killed in 3 weeks. Thats a rate of killing children by israel, of a 1000 children a week. Yeah. And well have to wait and see what im past. Whats happened at the you when this evening actually has on the grounds in gaza, if any at all. And it wont have that much impact. But it does. I think everyone had to say what they thought and where they stood and a lot of them havent declared it before. We now have a snapshot at this moment of what the world thinks. Okay, james. Thank you for the time being. Thats bringing gabriel, whos standing by for us at the United Nations to tell us whether theres been any reaction gabriel to this resolution that has passed and bassett, or would you like to speak couches here or were live right now sir. Frontier reaction. Okay, will be right there. Thank you. What is your reaction, sir . Are you happy with the . Do you think of israel boulevard . Okay, that was uh, that was uh, a Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations. I dont know if you could hear what he said there, but he said, i said, how do you feel about the vote . He shook his hand there, raised his fist inside. Theres justice in the General Assembly. Hes going to be speaking here in a few more minutes. As you can tell, the investors are now leaving the General Assembly hall there. Uh, and i was able to see the ambassador from united air emberts. I said i asked her, do you think that israel will oh by, by this resolution . She just shrugged her shoulders and said, i dont know. Were waiting for more than passengers to come out now including these really ambassadors. I know we saw him go in to places, vote as soon as he comes out, we will be asking him if hes country will be abiding by this resolution. But uh certainly i can tell you the scene inside the General Assembly hall is as soon as it was announced, that this resolution was adopted. There was clapping in the main hall there by the members. It that clearly supported this resolution. All right, gabriel. A thank you so much for the time being does. Gabriel is on the reporting lot for us from the United Nations. And just a reminder that the un General Assembly has called for an immediate humanitarian at truce between israel and her mouse. And also that resolution has demanded aid access to the gaza strip and for the protection of civilians. So while that was taking place over in new york, thats the life picture. Garza plunged into darkness where we understand that the is really military have increased their bombardments off the strip,
