Commented he has not come out with the statement regarding the outcome of the elections in the United States he is touring the southern part of the country places that have been affected by heavy rains from the remnants of hurricane ada which slammed into Central America earlier last week but if we look at it from the perspective of different political leaders here in mexico especially those that work in the area of International Politics the politics those that work in the area of International Trade surely they are breathing a collective sigh of relief a biden presidency for mexico and for political leaders in mexico just like with many other countries of the world represents a return to traditional diplomacy a departure away from threats issued over twitter of tariffs if mexico doesnt comply with it with immigration standards in a style that the United States will insist on it represents a return to traditional negotiation tactics when it comes when it comes to trade more so than anything else it represents a return to a stable neighbor a stable trading partner something that many here have been longing for for the last 4 years lets talk about immigration thats been a big issue and a hot line on to the presidency especially immigration from Central America what could we expect to change a biden presidency. The change in immigration policy direction under a biden presidency is probably the number one issue that folks in the Central America region Central Americans living in the United States are those that have been paying close attention to the selection or are paying very very close attention to what this means for immigration over the course of the last few years weve seen record numbers of people fleeing violence fleeing extreme poverty from countries like honduras guatemala el salvador the northern triangle of Central America to some extent people fleeing hunger brought on by by severe droughts that are been exacerbated by the impact that Climate Change is having uniquely in this part in this region of the world so when it when it comes to immigration Central Americans are paying very very close attention theyre paying very close attention to how the policies are going to shift policies that have resulted in the separation of families migrant families on the Us Mexico Border families from Central America policies that have led to the forced sterilization of women from Central America policies under the trumpet ministration that really do stretch the limits of International Law and one point that that we should note is a promise made by the Biden Campaign to meet with leaders in mexico to meet with leaders from Central America to tackle the root causes of immigration again those issues that i mentioned extreme poverty political instability widespread violence in countries specifically like honduras el salvador and guatemala these are things that either the Trump Administration was unwilling to do or failed to do over the course of the last 4 years money a report out there for us in mexico city many thanks. Were watching our. Developing story. To become president of the United States project. Pennsylvania. Democratic challenger across the finish line with. An unprecedented scenes of celebrations across. Large crowds. And. Continuing to make. Claims. And his campaign as. Mike hanna takes a look at bidens long road to the white house. It was joe biden. As the Vice President mr chairman its my great honor to place into nomination for the office of Vice President of United States my father my hero joe biden. 3 years later biden died. Its another personal tragedy for a man who had experienced the death of his 1st wife and infant daughter in a car crash in 1702 but it has been a life of many triumphs as well perhaps none great tribute from his commander in chief for the final time. Im pleased. The president ial medal of. Hi. Still mourning the death of his son biden did not contest the Democratic Party nomination in 2016 but after a slow start easily secured the partys support this year and in his acceptance address gave notice a better and kind of country to come we have a great purpose as a nation to open the doors of opportunity for all americans to save our democracy to be a light to the world once again and finally to live up to and make real the words written in the sacred documents that founded this nation that all men and women are created equal and joe biden has characteristics that previous Democratic Party nominees that use the street White Christian made all older with were a working class background and doesnt have an Ivy League Degree right and so all of those characteristics are going to be america republican characteristics biden ran a campaign tightly calibrated within the pandemic in which it took place embracing in seeking the advice of the experts accepting the science that his opponents scorned undeterred by the jibes that donald trump threw his way i dont wear masks like him every time you see him hes got a mask he could be speaking 200 feet away from him he shows up with the biggest mask ive ever seen and he quickly recognized the pulse of a protest movement that surged in response to Police Violence embracing the black lives Matter Movement at one stage taking a knee with those who are mourning. In a critical move that resonated in these troubled times he invited the woman of color to be his Vice President. And together with Harrison Ford the team that on this day has proved to be a winning one. Mike hanna aljazeera at the Biden Campaign headquarters wilmington the Democratic Party Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer has thanked americans for maintaining faith in the political system. The long dark night in america is over and a new joey is coming. And i want to thank all of the millions of americans who voted i want to thank the millions who were volunteers in poll watchers in small dollar donors people we did not give up on America Donald trump so no limits start democracy so try to destroy our democracy but as the election showed the American People never lost faith and now donald trump can go home to florida joe biden has now won more votes than any candidate in u. S. President ial history you have the backing of 55 percent of fame male voters 56 percent of voters on the 45 and 90 percent of black voters helped pave his path to the white house lets get more on this we can speak to the democratic strategist Derek Plummer joins us via skype from washington d. C. Many thanks for joining us this was of course an unprecedented a lank election what do you think swung it for joe biden. You know 1st thank you again for having me and look i think what swung it was a number of things one women as you talked about also black voters. And latino voters latino voters in arizona. Other key states georgia you name it really did make a difference but i would also have to say that we saw organizations like intimacy she you know collective package all these black organizations come together and really throw their support behind and sure i bet black voters were educated to mobilize this election and so when you look at cities like detroit pittsburgh philadelphia and even what we see right now in georgia with biden seemingly to be able to win the state of georgia the 1st democrat to do so in almost 30 years thats pretty remarkable so you know look i think fundamentally you have to look at black voters women and latino voters for really getting joe biden and senator harris to the position where they are president elect in my presence we are expected to hear from joe biden in the coming hours he has an important tell us doesnt he and in that speech he gave hes got to address the 71000000 people that did vote for trump. Yeah you know this but you know when i think about joe biden i think about dignity i think about decency i think about leadership i think about experience and i also think what someone who has crossed the partisan divides time after time throughout his career and so i think what well see tonight in his speech is him saying that look i recognize that there are millions upon millions who voted against me i realize that there are millions and millions who voted for me but at the end of the day we are americans our democracy is more important any election our democracy is more important to each one individual including donald trump and so i think were going to see from him is what weve been seeing over the last few days which is you know a call a call for call a call to our better angels if you will and i think were going to try were going to see the stability and type of leadership that we expect from american president s in our we havent seen under President Trump and we shouldnt underestimate the significance of this moment for a kind of the highest. No he cant i mean listen i as a as a black man are i recognize how important it is for my black daughter for my nieces and aunts to see someone who looks like them a sin to one of the highest offices in the land and i also recognize that again we talked earlier about black voters have played such an Important Role similar harris you know our university and. You know someone who looks like so many of us someone who has an experience like so many of us i promise you make an immigrant and so there are so many people i was speaking with family members in florida today they were talking about how in Carmel Harris they see themselves and she has shattered one of the highest and hardest Glass Ceiling or. Many women and black americans to have shattered yes we had president obama and now we consider we have Vice President elect harris and its really i think its a lot of our democracy and how much progress has me but to be clear theres a lot more progress to be how does buy didnt manage this transition what is his fast priority his equal. Yeah i mean look what weve already seen is that his priorities is endemic so i believe on monday youre going to see him in panel a coded 1000 task force that is going to be you know really looking at how do we come out of this very very dark period in terms of this pandemic you know the election is over but i think its fair to say that when we have now more than 230000 americans who have died as a result of this endemic where now more than 9000000 americans have contract to coat it that is the number one priority because so many things. Result from it the economy right the ability for people to get back to work our schools and so i think that is going to be his number one priority but as was reported earlier you know our standing overseas is also something thats be critical and so i imagine that we all know that he has a lot on his plate but i imagine hes going to be tackling as well as ensuring that our allies know that there is new leadership here in america. Democratic strategist eric speaking to us that from washington washington d. C. Many thanks for your thoughts. Well we continue to see pictures like this coming in from cities throughout the u. S. Including washington new york and philadelphia many of biden supporters taking to the streets this is the scene outside the white house many thousands that have gathered to celebrate. This is america i want to live in here little welcome i think its a little premature it just sounds like theres going to be multiple states with we can all see an awful lot of litigation take back the settle for intelligent design and the god that he got he finally got it he phoned a gun charge or a question or things that should be in this election are. Dozens of lawsuits all over the United States right now we should resolve finally that over. Anything on the federal. Was. Done he could have been out to paul i know days ago. Gabrielle is in new york city. These are tactless matters for testers looking at the streets of Downtown Manhattan new york city yet to announce it here that is fine that is fire i dont have time square was celebrating your parent because none of us will find him i never was through the streets of manhattan very stark black like that are no gestures and attrition shows how important the black rights Matter Movement was to mobilizing young people particularly to come out to vote for joe biden. They are now taking a beating. They are now taking in the middle of the street on all of those black men and women that i think you will get states. Like j. D. Gordon is a Foreign Policy adviser who serves as a pentagon spokesman jaring the george w. Bush administration and later as a National Security advisor to donald trump he says no one should think this race is over yet. People are celebrating 2 prematurely while there are still legal challenges in the courts and 4 different states in georgia for instance one of the larger states that biden has overtaken trump in the vote tally well the secretary of state for georgia said theyre going to have a recount so loyal have things like recounts and legal challenges the Supreme Court has already been involved in the case of pennsylvania and things havent been settled yet im concerned that people are going to get too excited President Trump is not going to say oh yes ive lost that im leaving i dont think thats going to happen soon on concern with violence in the streets from people who get too excited too early well its not the Trump Supporters on worried about that are going to burn cities down that was the far left people that have been. Really seen a lot of democrats make apologies for that have been engaged in the looting in burning of businesses that that wasnt Trump Supporters so im a little concerned with some of the biden supporters who may just get too excited too fast and want trump gone right away you see them outside of the white house now dancing and celebrating and i think thats thats harmful for the country they need to wait and see the system play out in 2000 and florida it did go to the Supreme Court and it wasnt decided for well over a month after election day that al gore had lost came down to a lot fewer votes of course less than a 1000 but that process took about 5 weeks here were just a few days after the election. Young couples in south korea are finding it increasingly difficult to afford their own home a common problem in most of the worlds big cities but as roma cried reports from seoul one of the innovative architects has come up with a possible solution. Newly married and wanting to own their own home in a city of escalating land prices architect choi min york and his wife jungle young hit on a novel solution build a house thats narrow but tall tony 1st people were curious about what were building they thought that it was either a chimney or light house. Talk to paul. So cain joy is now designing similar tiny homes for others winning recognition from the city for his originality its a concept already established in neighboring japan and it could provide a way for more young couples to own their own homes in seoul where the average apartment price has now risen to the equivalent of more than 800000. 00 as property prices surge the mathematics of building small and tall become all the more persuasive the land this house stands on cost just under 100000. 00 us dollars spend another 150000. 00 on the house itself and you have a home for less than a 3rd of the price of a similarly sized apartment and i think this could be a solution its very challenging for young people to buy a home even if they save up for their entire lives.
