We have been projecting that with 290 electoral votes joe biden has won the president ial election he is now the president elect of the United States pennsylvania is the state that put him over the top and he has now also been declared the winner. Youre watching live pictures now from new york we are seeing huge celebrations all across the country however there are a number of gatherings of Trump Supporters out there flags as well in a number of places in pennsylvania and in washington d. C. As well as you can see theyre out on the streets theyve been charging usa usa the other groups of supporters for joe biden have been celebrating his victory well his victory also means that Vice President elect comer harris will be the 1st woman 1st south asian and 1st black person to hold that office she learned all of that news while she was out jogging and was also one of the 1st to congratulate her wedding ring. Wait wait then a very very heavy the next president of the United States. Lets now go back to washington d. C. Where we see those crowds and our correspondent alan fischer is there in the capital allan we are seeing is trying crowds out on the street what are we hearing from the town campaigners have. We know that they are going to be serious it is getting incredibly light here i know you have another count right on the school here for conflict that out let me tell you let me give you an explanation of where this is were at Lafayette Park which is right in front of the white house that has been essentially blocked off by the secret service and that happened just before the election really since the summer when we had protests there and people have gathered on what is no black lives matter plaza which leads all the way from the park down into a few blocks down here in washington d. C. And people have been gathering here from what i can see a lot of them are Wearing Masks even though corporate is on the increase here but they have been cheering theyve been chanting and theyve been singing one of the most common songs is now not hearing good bye which theyre just starting again at the moment and right in front of black lives matter closer in front of the park is the charge and that became world famous or donald trump held his 4th to call theyre holding the bible at the height of the protests after the death of george boyd here in washington d. C. Because of course at that point chemical additives would move used to move Peaceful Protesters to along with the president to get his 4 to opportunity to turn campaign dont trumpet playing golf for the moment he left here a couple of hours ago there have been a couple of pictures of him on the course thats where the news with him pastor joe biden has been cleared by the Media Networks here as the president elect immediately the trump. Campaign put out a statement in the president s name thats clearly been on the stocks ready to go as soon as that announcement was made so they were clearly aware that it was coming and donald trump said that because the Media Networks have declared joe biden the president that doesnt mean to see that he is and his legal team will be prosecuting their case in the courts starting on monday now weve heard them talk about voter fraud work have them talk about irregularities in the voting but yet to produce any concrete evidence its very much a pattern 7 for dont trump when he makes a statement and then his aides try to back him up they have talked about voter fraud and problems with the Voting System for days now and only in the last 2436 hours how is the party the Charm Campaign i stop the website and a phone line where people can call in with anything that they have that would suggest that there was some sort of irregularity in the Voting System so we got donald trump claiming that there was problems with the voting before we actually had any evidence and theyve had a couple of court cases where the case has been thrown out dont trump has flagged this up and he said hes going to go as far as the Supreme Court to raise that case and try and have the result essentially nolen void perhaps even overturn he believes he still won the election big in fact be treated that this morning i won this election i won it big i think was the exact phrase i mean he is not conceding defeat at this point even though there are a number in his orbit who clearly are looking at the same results the same peter that we all are i realize it would be very difficult for him to do so people talk about 2000 in florida and the order of a recount there by the Supreme Court and then the fact that they said you to stop the counting the difference between then and no 20 years so on. Is it that. George bush was ahead in florida when he called for a recount so if this result holds time it seems that it will donald trump has become the one thing he didnt want to be of course he criticized barack obama when he was running for the office 4 years ago he compared them to jimmy carter he said jimmy carter was so but he was a one term President Donald Trump no finds that he too will become a one term president and he will leave office on the 28th of january 2021 if this result is upheld and joe biden will become the 46th president of the United States alan stay with me here because we do have that trump statement as you say he hasnt conceded the race and say in fact he says its far from over and let me read you the statement that the Time Campaign has released we all know why joe biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner why his media allies are trying so hard to help and they dont want the truth to be exposed beginning monday our campaign will start prosecuting our case and course to ensure election laws are fully up held and the rightful winner is seated well alan you know those are some pretty pretty tough words there and the stress of further litigation on monday we are already seeing these Trump Supporters come out on the streets of not only washington d. C. But also pennsylvania weve seen some unrest around those crowds around the country as the vote counting has been going on do you have a sense a tour that the campaign might want to speak to any of these people to try to prevent any further unrest going ahead and the coming days. Clearly there will be appeals for calm or those who suggest that donald trump quite likes the fight when those 2 yours is new in the destructor he was a destructor as president he was the destructor as a businessman whether you accept he was successful at that or not entirely depends on what you read and what you. Leave so it would be hard for him. To argue that he doesnt like to see some form of chaos but i think everyone would be grateful if there was a time of peace a time of calm and certainly there was no violence on the streets of the United States from either side certainly dont trump has presented himself as the law and order president he tweets on a regular basis law and order law and order it cant be something that applies only to the other side its got to apply to his supporters as well so there will be a worry that there may be trouble that there are maybe violence but the authorities have built up for days aware that this is exactly what could happen because the United States except i dont know is a very divided place and whether people in the crowd here are not want to believe dont want trump represented a great many people across the United States and particularly in the heartland of the us and was very much one of those who built on his success of 2016 and increased his vote in 2020 and yet still finds himself some 4000000 votes behind joe biden in the popular vote so im sure the Trump Campaign at the moment would appear to be focused more on setting out a legal case they have appointed someone to oversee all the efforts in every state someone who is not a lawyer but would be probably more of someone who would handle the p. R. Of it all. Shows a real lack of forward planning on behalf of the Trump Campaign when for months theyve been talking about legal challenges that they didnt have heavy hitters in place ready to go to these states and make their case but it also says a lot about the Charm Campaign that when donald trump was being impeached he cast a run for a big name a successful lawyer who would. Helped defend him there and he did it shouldve been doing the same here but theres just no one who wants to step forward and thats been one of his complaints over the last 48 hours were told that he hasnt seen enough people on television defending him its been left to be Rudy Giuliani and he wants to see more republicans that becomes much harder know that joe biden has been declared the president elect by the t. V. Networks and Donald Trumps power and influence starts to leak away from the moment the very moment that it ends meet with me alan fischer there for us in the capitol washington d. C. Washington d. C. At this very momentous moment thank you so much allen well lets speak to rena shah she is with the Lincoln Project Womens Coalition she joins us now from reston in the u. S. State of virginia you yourself were a republican strategist and i want to remind our viewers that the Lincoln Project was a it was a group of republicans that came together because they werent pleased with what donald trump was doing to the country so let me start by asking you for your reaction in this moment. Well i must say you know i have goose bumps in this moment its been many days that so many of us have been on edge though that matt has looked good for joe biden for a couple of days now sort of the reluctance to call a state was really unnerving for those of us who spoke out against the president so many years ago i myself in early 2016 suffered the wrath of really many republicans across the country criticizing me be just simply because i exercised that 1st amendment right i said i was concerned about this president when he was just the presumptive nominee for the republicans i knew then exactly what we saw what played out over these past 4 years a very divisive 4 years marked by complete chaos and his narcissism i must say today i feel so relieved with hope and i you know i just want to take a moment and its really incredible that 244 years in america is what it took for us to see a female Vice President one that is half black jamaican descent and south asian descent her mother looks just like my mother my mother was an immigrant from india. Its just its incredible its incredible presentation matters its incredible to see this woman whos achieved so much that her hearers has achieved so much in life and now she will get to take over as Vice President. Its just amazing it really removes our feet in our system in our process donald trump a spent 4 years breaking down the trust of mind of my fellow americans and how this country works and how our into 2 should work getting us to question our fellow americans simply because we disagree on policy to know that the bio here is administration is going to unite us next year is just so incredible it makes americans everywhere feel like there is a great new day that america is still this incredible shining light in the world i mean i have to ask you about unity because i know joe biden and have been calling for unity throughout the campaign and also now we had that was one of the 1st things that biden said when he spoke last night still america is an incredibly incredibly divided country perhaps the most polarized we have been where do you go from here and we do know that Something Like 70000000 americans did vote for donald trump and this time around it wasnt so much taking a punters as perhaps and 2016 when he was an unknown quantity people voted for him with their eyes wide open this time around what do you think that says about america. Well i certainly want to put on my political strategist hat for a moment there ive spent 10 years out on the campaign trail as an operative and before that i was on capitol hill for 4 years working for 2 or collagen members of congress i know this i know the playbook very well and i know that the Republican National committee alongside the trumpet ministration was the hammering from last year and really frankly the past 4 years how democrats are the bogeyman and how this Democratic Party in the current form would bring about socialism to this country so these were the fear tactics that were employed and were used on my fellow americans to really make us think the democrats are the devil and thats where i really beg to differ i dont think this election was about tax hikes versus tax cuts and so many trump surrogates trying to say it was i think this was an election about decency and dignity and truly coming together as americans though we disagree on some policy that trumpet ministration wanted was a division so that they can continue to succeed and he trumpet as a savior so no doubt no doubt there will be a tremendous task on the hands of abidin and harris when they take Office Next Year to really find a way to bring in those republicans who again we saw great numbers go towards this president like you said eyes wide open knowing his failure of leadership in this pandemic knowing that it wasnt the economy that he created it was a it was a result of this this booming economy we had prior to cohabit was a result of the obama era policies theres going to be a lot to do in terms of Coalition Building and getting the facts back to the surface and really pushing through just information theres such a lofty goal that but that biden puts 4 or hear back tonight when he speaks to us in his victory speech we will have to hear exactly how he wants to do it but i believe in my heart of hearts that its going to be a broad Coalition Building and it didnt take time its going to petion no one person can fix the impact of the past few years and really what it had on me and my fellow americans. Feeling and project and celebrating and rest and the u. S. State of virginia thanks so much for being with us raina. Thank you all youre watching these live pictures of the crowds out celebrating joe biden and coming to harris as victory and in washington d. C. And around the country they are also celebrating joe bidens home sales of delaware where our correspondent joins us from he is in wilmington on the ground speaking to supporters there for us jamal what whats the mood there i magine its absolutely triumphant at the moment. Indeed very very much so a lot of joy a lot of relief being expressed by people who are gathering now they are increasing in size the crowd that is we understand from the Biden Campaign that he will be speaking on stage behind h. P. R. Local time here so thats roughly in about 7 hours from now no doubts that more and more people will be coming so that they can attend what many of them view historic occasion for them theres been different ones going on people expressing relief and happiness for many Different Reasons but im going to interrupt these people here just awesome about their views how you guys feeling about this victory i mean excited its a very important day for minorities all people everywhere if we finally get a voice you know what is the most important challenge that you feel biden has once he takes office. Room and its going to be hard to bring people back together again and of convince from supporters that like were all here for them to welcome them back into like you know sanity and stuff you know they will eventually division and over the past 4 years and now its time to bring people back together and the fact that we still have a split senate we dont have we dont yet have a majority in the senate on our president s side this is the 1st time thats happened in a long time so its going to require a lot of compromise and thats what joe has always been about is finding a compromise. So you wont be on the senate be on the presidency you guys yes its a split senate but its a split country you have more people who voted for trump this time around than they did last time around a lot of those people as much as you know youll say you know son its your most honored to be voted very much aware of what he stood for what does that mean for you guys particularly when were talking about you know we were hearing people chants about black lives matter the b. L. M. Movements and other minorities that have felt victimized maybe or vulnerable on the trunk i think its about teaching that because i feel like its just its understood and they thought like giving other people a voice is meant that their voice was going down but its about like just making sure everybodys equal and that we all of the same opportunities so it feels like a cloud is ballistic so hopefully we can just see some change in empathy here because i know you like theres a lack of empathy in our country right now and it boggles my mind i dont know where this lack of empathy has come from because i was raised to care about other people. You know which is thanks trounced on it and this is saying something made people doubt facts maybe people doubt truth made people question our process so hes hes actually making people no doubt that show results hes saying that he won the army won big are you worried hes not going to give hes going to hes not going to leave the white house. And so far everything thats been adjudicated its my understanding hes lost i pray that he does i dont i obviously dont know but i think the misinformation thats been spread over the last 4 years is is just. His worst legacy and thats going to be our biggest job so thank you very much by the way. There are a lot of things that drove people to vote for biden a lot of them are things that they found in the Democratic Candidates or now the president elect that they agreed with but for a lot of people was actually finding somebody who wasnt done old chap. Because a lot of people. Are very insecure by the policies by the rhetoric of donald trump and what that did to the social fabric here in the United States as we heard from as weve seen it is a very divided society and that division is something that has been very worrying for many many people and really tomorrow there with biden supporters in his home state of delaware you will be speaking from there later thanks so much jamal the state that pushed him over to 70 was pennsylvania and kristen salumi is on the ground in philadelphia for us where shes been helping us watch that count all important count kristen we know that theres litigation already in the works and yet there are people already celebrating is it safe for people to be celebrating at the stage. Well the official results are not in but clearly the lead here in pennsylvania is enough that major Media Networks all of them including the right wing fox network which tends to be more conservative have all now called this race for joe biden so the celebration is continuing here in the street the lead by joe biden at this stage is just 31000 votes or about a half a percentage point but yes there is a lot of celebration going on outside of the Convention Center where the vote count has been happening weve just heard cars going back and forth up and down the street waving flags rainbow flags biden signs and so on people honking and cheering as theyre gathering for a rally not too far from here in fact at Independence Hall which for our International Viewers philadelphia is actually considered the birthplace of democracy that is where their declaration of independence was signed so and it appears that this is where this election has ended with pennsylvania coming in favor of biden but of course the president has not conceded this election yet and just a short time ago we heard from his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani speaking here in philadelphia talking about their plans to launch yet another lawsuit theyre filing a federal complaint alleging deprivation of rights that has to do with poll workers that they say have not been given proper access to monitor the vote count here in philadelphia and also in pittsburgh he appeared with about 5 poll workers and he says that he has statements from about 25 poll workers claiming that they were not treated properly or given proper access to those vote counts that they were not allowed to take pictures and that they saw suspicious boxes. In the room that they werent allowed to investigate now. Action officials i said flat out deny this and there were have been republican and democratic independent monitors in these polling locations since election day i spoke to election commissioner here he pointed out that they were separated a bit farther initially because of concerns about kovi a federal judge ruled that they could move closer they allowed them to move closer he pointed out that there are 24 hour live cameras on the scene here so that anybody can log in online and watch whats happening in the proceedings here so certainly officials do not put much credence into the complaint thats being filed by the president s team but the president pursuing that no less than Rudy Giuliani saying that that lawsuit could be expanded to other states around the country but the focus here remains the focus for now and their strongest case they feel is here in pennsylvania but again i can tell you for the city and for what were seeing is celebration like this is a done deal with people taking pictures behind me a city hall maybe you can see in the distance a building those people gathering outside of there in front of a sign that says good things happen in philadelphia showing up with their own biden signs or own black lives matter signs and so on and taking pictures to so clearly for this city the celebration has begun and we all saying those crowds grow as well in washington d. C. With plenty of signs think that here of copping to kristen 3 me there on the ground for us in pennsylvania thanks so much preston. We can now speak to Leah Daughtry she is a former democratic National Committee chief of staff and she joins us now also from washington d. C. Lee i imagine you are celebrating today but before we get to that i want to just pick up where kristen left off obviously this is council ongoing litigation in the way and no concession yet from president you worry. Not at all. First of all i dont think there are any im sorry expecting President Trump to conceive that would not be his style but the conventions of government work we have been doing peaceful transition of power in this country for more than 200 years and so the Electoral College will meet in december they will vote joe biden will become the president elect harris the Vice President elect and we will proceed to gerry were 20 is when they will both be sworn in and President Trump will no longer be the president he will have to leave. Is there a sense here that there might need to be a moment of reckoning for the Democratic Party too though there was that predicted pretty wave that pollsters were saying was going to happen which we didnt see materialize necessarily and i know a lot of people are very concerned there for a period of time is there a period of reflection now for the Democratic Party about why that tonight. Well i would caution the Democratic Party against too much hand wringing yemi after all we won the presidency we have rebuilt the blue wall of michigan. Wisconsin and pennsylvania that we lost the last time we have added arizona and georgia to our mix we havent won arizona or georgia in the different in the president ial primary president ial election since 2030 years so we have done a tremendous job in expanding the map and if you look at the map now this is far more blue than there ever was and so we should be very proud of that yes we have some work to do to figure out why we could win the presidency and still lose some seats in the house but overall we have work to do but i think we are well within our rights to take this moment to rejoice in the victories that we have included joe Biden Kamel Harris getting more votes than any president ial candidate in the history of this country women and so there you mentioned a whole bunch of victories that and congratulations on i do want to ask you about the senate races because they are still potentially outstanding we thought to run offs in georgia in january and they could be determining who controls the senate so how confident are you going Going Forward from here. Well i think we go into the georgia runoffs was a tremendous hit and the fact that were even having run offs in georgia is tremendously exciting i am from georgia my family is from georgia weve been there since the days of slavery and so this is a point of personal pride that we have one georgia so i think the enthusiasm of this president ial campaign will carry us forward into the to. Sit at races and i think you have people from across the country who want to go and help who want to send money who want to turn people out much. Accolades to stacy aprons and the infrastructure she built registering 800000 new people onto the georgia also i think we have a tremendous opportunity here to take one if not both of them sit in seats near daughtry their former democratic National Committee t. V. Stuff i will leave you to a celebration play that congratulations well thank you for those of you just joining us wed like to remind you that President Trump right now is not at the white house he is currently at his golf course and virginia is where he was when the race was called by Major Networks and when he lost reelection to joe biden well joining us now from matthew in the u. S. State of South Carolina as ever strange that we have an editor at max back politics thanks so much for being with us and let me start by asking you for your reaction in this moment i imagine your celebrating much like mia. Absolutely i cant stop myself im sort of dancing here in my seat im super excited and happy and quite frankly proud of america for stretching the boundaries of anything that weve ever done before to meet and ultimately defeat the greatest threat that weve seen in the white house literally for centuries ever so know there were a lot of assumptions that joe biden would pick up basically the majority of the minority vote and he did but donald trump also picked up a huge amount of minority votes including africanamericans what do you make of that Going Forward. Well 1st lets just sort of deconstruct better bit so we saw a 91 percent of black women voting for the biden harris ticket and we know as always black women showed up and showed out at the polls over representing their proportion in the population just in terms of turnout when you look at the key cities that made this big tree possible it was the black vote that did that its those black people in philadelphia that really pushed the needle for it in terms of turning the corner with regard to the pennsylvania outcomes it was a black people in and around atlanta that deliberate that big tree for joe biden and come on Harrison George it was the black people in detroit that brought home michigan and the black people in wisconsin that bought in milwaukee that bought home wisconsin and so really its a huge victory in terms of the huge expansion in the turnout of the black vote this time that but thats because home though we did see a large proportion of black men support from this time at 18 percent that is a very unusually high number for black men supporting a republican candidate still you had a large proportion of black men who supported joe biden then we had of white women or any other Demographic Group in america and so overall when you put all of that together its the black vote that was a Key Foundation to this victory and will we get biden and harris that ministration in office were going to make sure that the administration remembers that and delivers for the black community we also saw so much conversation about Racial Justice in the United States and huge amounts of that 5 that are protests across the country how do you think that changed the conversation heading into this election. I think that it was a very important reckoning that this nation had to go through in terms of really coming to bear with the long history of systemic racism that we have faced and continue to face and it created a moment in time in which this nation really had to look at straight in not turn away as it typically has done this is the 1st time that i really remember seeing a president ial candidate say so fervently so often and as recently as last night the new president elect was talking about one of his Top Priorities being addressing systemic racism in office where you have the defeated candidate who didnt even want to recognize or even acknowledge that systemic racism exists did it still really what i think it did. Not only black people but people who are in favor of justice and right and moving this country in a direction where it will begin the hard and difficult process of moving forward there in terms of justifying those injustices and i believe it really is one of the things that led to that expansion of the electorate on the left that helped to ensure a biden harris victory overstrained story of the editor and thats that thank you for being with us avis i leave you also to your celebrations thanks for joining. Us from waynes save us well at this point lets bring in j. D. Gordon hes a former pentagon spokesman and he joins us now from washington d. C. Thank you for taking the time to be weather mr gordon let me start by asking you for your reaction to the. Thank you for having me on the show today well i think its a little bit premature to celebrate because President Trump has legal challenges in a number of states that are very close he has legal challenges in places like pennsylvania and a vata which would make the difference in the declared victory for joe biden so i think its a little early to celebrate while these legal challenges reserves still working their way through the court system while a number of the legal experts that weve had on literally in the last hour have said that theres very little evidence and very little basis potentially for those legal challenges and if they do go ahead theyre unlikely to actually change the outcome given that votes were cast and votes being counted and are you confident that that there could be a potentially different result. Well i would say that the court should decide that not me youre not the legal analysts that are on t. V. That for the active judges in the active courts the key issue with pennsylvania of course was the number of ballots that were excepted after election day they were supposed to be postmarked by the post office on or before november 3rd but the state Supreme Court allowed them to come in for days afterwards so thats one key issue i think some port in pennsylvania another really key legal challenge in pennsylvania was that the voting rolls had 21000 dead people on them and we saw millions of ballots come in by the mail so i mean its hard to to to come to grips with that now until we dig through all the votes but even in pennsylvania alone were talking about almost 7000000 votes. At the end of the day i think that the coronavirus cause the rules of the game to be changed with mail and voting throughout the country with tens of millions of ballots that came in with very little very very few mechanisms to see if those were actually accurate so coronavirus really have a huge impact on this election it certainly did but mr gordon we will wait to see obviously what happens in the coming days and what evidence is brought before the courts but there is there were multiple investigations done and into a potential vote forward in the United States including one under the trumpet ministration and that all came up with nothing that there was no vote for it in the United States and. We know that donald trump himself and the 1st lady vote by mail its the jest that they have some confidence in the process let me ask about the transition of power here because weve obviously had no concession from President Trump and there are concerns that this might get very very messy indeed you concerned about the process in the next in the next days and weeks to come. Yes i am concerned because i think people are celebrating to prematurely while there are still legal challenges in the courts in 4 different states in georgia for instance one of the larger states that biden has overtaken trial in the vote tally well the secretary of state for georgia said theyre going to have a recount so will you have things like recounts and legal challenges the Supreme Court has already been involved in the case of pennsylvania and that things havent been settled yet im concerned that people are going to get too excited President Trump is not going to say oh yes ive lost that im leaving and i dont think thats going to happen soon im concerned with violence in the streets from people who get too excited too early let me ask you finally then if this does go to the courts and the courts decide that this result is up standing and that we are seeing a president elect joe biden would you advise President Donald Trump to concede is and also to call on his supporters to refrain from any on rest and im sure a peaceful transition of power. Well its not the Trump Supporters on worried about that are going to burn cities down that was the far left people that have been. Really seen a lot of democrats make apologies for that have been engaged in the looting and burning of businesses that that wasnt Trump Supporters so im a little concerned with some of the biden supporters who may just get too excited too fast and want trump gone right away you see them outside of the white house now dancing and celebrating and i think thats thats wonderful for the country but they need to see the system play out in 2000 and florida it did not have the Supreme Court and it wasnt decided for well over a month after election day that al gore had lost came down to a lot fewer votes of course less than a 1000 but that process took about 5 weeks here were just a few days after the election on this to go out and im sure we will wait to see what the courts say and wait for those counts to be to be completed but i also do want to point out that the crowds that youre firing to outside the white house at the moment are very peaceful celebrating and obviously thats been committed during protests and in the often moffitt protests have not necessarily been from just protesters but from people of very different sides of the political spectrum as well j. D. Gordon there a former pentagon spokesman speaking to us from washington d. C. Thank you for joining us here on out is there. Well former president for off obama has tweeted his support for his former Vice President joe biden he released a statement just a short while ago saying that he cannot be prouder to congratulate the next President Joe Biden and the next 1st Lady Jill Biden he has also congratulated come about her as for her groundbreaking election as americas next Vice President he also outlined the many challenges that biden will be facing off to get officially becomes a president a raging coronavirus pandemic and quote an unequal economy Justice System and democracy at risk and a climate at peril while joe biden is expected to address the nation in the coming hours but before that he has tweeted that he is on and that america has chosen him to lead he says the work ahead will be holland but he promised to be a president for all americans those who voted for him and those who didnt and hes promised to keep the faith that you have placed in him well lets bring in Philip Center so hes a professor of Political Science at Duke University thank you for being with us let me start with this sentiment around unity obviously were looking at an incredibly incredibly divided america right now where do you begin if youre joe biden trying to bring people together. I think that its a very very difficult task that there are other than you like by the is going to face because america has been polarized for all of the country in the u. S. Of even know republicans and democrats they are living in the same country nearly 7 different set of newness we are receiving different sets of messages from given us munir form their Political Parties so for the better than elect biden to call for unity i think there is an almost Impossible Task for him to achieve in a very short period of time our patients are yours and needs to be able to Work Together with what probably is going to be our Republican Senate majority will do you really need to Work Together will be a. Bigger mcconnell in terms of pursuing a common agenda common policy its. One thing that hes going to be careful about years from the question from the far left is going to. Isolate himself from the middle of america so to be honest the question of bringing people together of uniting. American is going to be a very difficult challenge and im not going to sugarcoat it hes going to take a long long time because frankly conservatives leave on democrats and republicans. Particularly being in a 2000 foot wall and hes going to be very difficult to group them together well for people outside the country who are watching all of this take place find leaders find countries at once ive given watching this election very closely indeed what do you think foreign leaders will be looking for as we go into this potential transition period. Well some of them might be bringing some of the leaves on some of them might be thinking what what is going to be the Power Forward because they dont trump has been a transformative figure in our transforming American Foreign policy before President Trump we have Obama Administration Bush Administration clinton who is trying to assert american floorman in the International War of the. And reverse those calls by focusing more towards american for us of nationalistic populist policies so some foreign leaders might be and he knew that by those policies that of president tremendous has adopted in the last 4 years some of them reached that question in that biden is going to all. The same policies that president obama has made for example he is somebody tweeted a few years ago that hes going to join the paris climbing equipment. That might be good news for some foreign minister and you know if were going to be looking at how america is going to assert itself back into the National Organization such as new dont. You think very important of an evening we saw not just from this but interNational Organizations who are going to be one thing you dont buy in and you but bear to obamas policy. Youre going to feel entirely new policies that biden have his administration is going to pursue but generally speaking it would seem that the foreign leader of the National Committee i would think would your government be putting myself in these because. Because on the on bidens policy position in the past. We are going to see a Great American involvement internationally. For the santos a professor of Political Science at Duke University great to get us right here on aljazeera thanks for being with us. Well it seems like an excellent time now to go to our diplomatic editor james is hes in new york and he is following all the International Reaction to this or you were also saying all the local reaction lots and lots of people in the streets so james plenty more congratulations flying in over the last. People in the streets here as well actually as i walked into the u. N. An hour or so ago people celebrating its clear although its in diplomatic language that there are people celebrating in high offices around the world certainly among the u. S. Is our allies the 1st. To congratulate the president elect biden was the canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau he had a pretty difficult. Relationship with President Trump at times youll remember 2800. 00 g. 7 summit in canada ended with a furious route between the 2 youll also remember that Prime Minister trudeau was one of those caught on camera laughing about President Trump and President Trump later said he was 2 faced he was the 1st to send his congratulations but then weve heard congratulations from other key allies germany chancellor merkel says our transatlantic friendship is irreplaceable she congratulates joe biden and carla harris and looks forward to future cooperation future cooperation on what you may ask well in the last few moments her foreign minister who must has been tweeting and he says that germany will present concrete proposals to the biden team on 3 issues china climate and the pandemic that certainly are germanys priorities with regard to what should be discussed between europe and a new Biden Administration talking of europe the e. U. The leaders there the 2 president s Charles Michelle and ursula have congratulated joe biden on behalf of the 27 members of the European Union worth reminding you that one point President Trump called the e. U. With regard to trade and steel tariffs. But quote suddenly you let me just give you one he has described it as an indispensable partner of 1st resort 1st resort so real difference and i think thats why youre seeing these sort of comments coming through from european leaders thats on behalf of the 27. 00 e. U. Leaders of course there is one country that used to be in the e. U. And that isnt anymore and thats the u. K. And perhaps that theyre a little bit more nervous about the Biden Victory Boris Johnson the u. K. Prime minister has congratulated joe biden he looks forward to working closely on shared priorities he says the u. S. Is almost in. And the British Foreign secretary says that while while some of the process is still playing out its clear that joe biden has one certainly joe biden is someone whos been critical unlike donald trump of brecks it and joe biden of course has arash roots and Northern Ireland could be one of the problem areas regarding breaks it i have to say putting aside though most of the u. K. s policies on the International Stage are probably fit better with a Biden Administration than they did with a trumpet ministration youll notice the comets work having mainly at this stage come from allies of the u. S. And one in the last few moments as come from the secretary general of nato remember that President Trump at one point we have learned from john bolton his former National Security adviser was contemplating a 2018 pulling out of nato and certainly is certainly put the squeeze on the other nato members with regard to their defense budgets. Both the secretary of nato and congratulate joe biden on his selection as the next u. S. President i know joe biden is a strong supporter of our alliance and look forward to working closely with him a strong nato is good for both north america and europe so all of those comments coming from our allies no clear comments coming yet official comments coming from beijing or moscow but it is worth me telling you that there was one tweet thats come from the peoples daily in china which is an official newspaper and it was written in twitter style you remember that President Trump before he went golfing before biden was declared the president elect tweeted i won this election by a lot of the peoples daily simply on their english twitter account read tweet it with the words ha ha after the news that joe biden is the president elect. James bears that out. Diplomatic correspondent with all the International Reaction wrapping that up for us from new york thank you so much james well now lets head back over to the capital washington d. C. And speak to alan fischer he is watching everything happening at the white house we are watching is incredible pictures allan just outside the white house of all these crowds that have been gathering and getting larger by the minute can you give us a sense of the mood there and what we might be hearing or not hearing from the time counting well. It has been very loud here just above the white house where you can see is the white house in the back row over there to the left to my left as were looking at it no is the Washington Monument then the white house the residence is over to the left hand side of the building the oval office over to the right you come through the park which has been blocked off for the moment has moved to the area around the white house thats been the case since before the election but the park was blocked off during the protests in the summer and the gold dome building you see is the church where donald trump cleared Peaceful Protesters using chemical irritants so that he could pose for a picture during the height of the protests against the death of george floyd and you can see there there are 2 im guessing easily a 1000 protests people who have come to celebrate there are speeches being made but largely people are enjoying the moment they are singing i see most of them are Wearing Masks which of course is important given that the covert virus is increasing across the United States but people are singing and dancing and are generally celebrating what is i think credibly nice day here in washington d. C. For the beginning of november very warm very warm indeed so nice so warm the dont talk decided not to waste it by heading off to the golf course it was there that he discovered that joe biden had been declared by the american Media Networks to be the president our there was a statement obviously ready to go from his campaign. Was released within minutes of that announcement being made saying that joe biden may have been declared the president elect by the networks but they dont get to do it its up to the states to confirm the Election Results and that he and his team would be prosecuting their case in the courts as soon as monday morning they believe they have a case to make for voter fraud and ballot stuffing and people who had died getting a vote and they will take that to the courts weve got to say that this is. A system that donald trump had said he was going to employ in the run up to the election that if he didnt win the election he would have had the election stolen from him and would take it to the courts he was often asked if you would concede the election he said well we have to see what happens and its clear that hes in no mood to concede the election now that he intends to go forward to the courts as soon as monday morning ive been watching my twitter feed to see who would be the 1st republican to congratulate joe biden by my estimation it was jeb bush former governor of florida someone who ran against donald trump 4 years ago for the president ial nomination for the Republican Party was attacked relentlessly by donald trump in what was a smart piece of politics by donald trump because he quickly took down the front runner the man who was expected to win that race he quickly diminished him in the eyes of the voters the Republican Voters and essentially removed him from the equation and then it was followed up by mitt romney but just casting your mind back to march a new and we were talking about the primaries for the democrats. Joe biden didnt do well in New Hampshire i was there in iowa when it didnt go well for him whatsoever and he was really saved by a congressman jim clyburn who threw his weight behind them in the election in South Carolina one thing. And it reignited his Election Campaign you know here we are several months later and joe biden is the presumptive nominee saudi the presumptive president elect depending on how these court cases being brought by the Truck Campaign actually progress alan fischer there for us with all the latest from the capital washington d. C. On this momentous day thank you so much allen. Well lets remind you that this is the new president elect and this i believe is the fast picture that he has put out and no longer Vice President as you can see joe biden and the presumptive 1st lady that 1st lady elect i should say covering the vice so you are looking then at joe biden and joe biden expected to be well the president elect and the festivities elect of the United States well lets bring in our correspondents she is in Atlanta Georgia where the count is actually still going im natasha we are seeing that joe biden is up he obviously doesnt need to win georgia in order to get across the 270 threshold but he is leading there it is remarkable that that georgia all states became a state that flipped. Absolutely as one democratic candidate for senate said change is coming to georgia in georgia is part of the change that is coming to america were here at freedom perk in atlanta where there is a very very stewardess mood very celebratory mood and im here with David Mollett he is a disabled veteran a nurse and a Union Representative and hes here today to talk to us mr mollett i think this is one of those elections where people are going to remember where they were what they were doing when they heard the news so where were you and what were you doing when youve heard the news i was sitting on. When i heard a new that one he had taken on leave the joint but today that the union hall. Heard the news that pushed over the top. And how are you feeling particularly the historic nature of their being the 1st female Vice President 1st female Vice President will act 1st Indian American female Vice President elect what is the scene here in may and may be something that weve done collectively has worked and should have taken this long that we recognize womens contribution black contribution and in congress hold her to the United States contribution to what we are as a sod it should have never taken this long. Interesting thing that became apparent in the race is that truck voters tended to look at getting the economy back up and running as their primary reason for voting for him well im not a democrat that their support for biden has someone who would adequately address the pandemic if youre a nurse you work in a hospital and thank you very much for your service how important was pinned down the response and what do you want biden to do president elect to do have one take office to address the pandemic listen to the professionals listen to the son to listen to the medical profession the child and you want certain things that dont work it cant operate all for your feeling because were talking about germs we talk about microorganisms the things we cant see so we have to deal with it from a science standpoint cant believe the rhetoric people say that oh theres enough people we know off stop experience people using the same mass the same gallons over no that would never happen in normal circumstances so do we we need to be more whole point but what medical science and go forward with it i was in an area with a big crowd a diverse crowd when we heard the news and i. Heard a few people saying this is not true hes not the president the media doesnt decide who the president is clearly there going to be a lot of people who refuse to acknowledge the results of this election who refuse to acknowledge that this was a feat free and Fair Election i think its going to take for this country to start coming together and unifying once again if ever we were united. In listening to one another i think we have to have conversation with people to understand look people 4 years ago had feelings all know the sod about what it taken place with when we ended up with 45 so nothing changed about whats whats unfortunate is that a lot of the things that are not of those taxes was nothing do with finances that had more to do with their racial biases or Different Things in the United States and thats what they feel that theyve aligned with and then youre not going to change about about about people or people dont believe that there should be a foreign process favoring one thats what their beliefs when we talk about georgia i think its important for our viewers to understand this is that in the deep south that this state 16 Electoral College or the mind of a democratic president ial candidate since 1982 and that the reason we got to a point where biden was a has been a real contender is because of work that has happened at the Grassroots Level work regarding Voter Engagement in communities of color and fighting Voter Suppression you have a pin on your shirt that shows me that you understand that very well could you talk to me about what do you think has changed in the last 4 years to make biden do as well as he has in what has traditionally been a republican stronghold i think that that to thing that gillum in florida. And georgia to show people that we can make a difference from the. Abrams was the 1st. Female democratic gubernatorial candidate she ran here in 20 you she lost it was a close 2 race and there were allegations of Voter Suppression she is one of the leaders that is being attributed with really fighting Voter Suppression and getting new voters in the 10s of thousands to vote yeah absolutely but i think. If we committed to it we can number of people we could be hundreds and thousands of people just to our different contacts. Pleasure talking to you thank you so much and be safe or go to your own. Natasha going to in Atlanta Georgia for us thank you so much actually lets show you some of these pictures from around the country of people celebrating the youre seeing these are pictures from the streets of new york where people have been dancing and singing and chanting celebrating the victory of joe biden and come out harris i do want to show you some other pictures of some Trump Supporters that weve been seeing out on the streets of d. C. They have been out there and also chanting im sorry im sorry these and philadelphia we have also been seeing them out in the capitol obviously it is a very very divided country but one thing that we have heard from joe biden who is expected to address the nation in the coming hours hes already tweeted that hes not only on and that america has chosen him to lead he says the work ahead. But he has promised to be a president for the americans those who voted for him and others who didnt as a momentous occasion here on aljazeera thanks for being with. Us. Hello im Barbara Starr this is aljazeera live from london its just after 900 g. M. T. And 1400 eastern time in the u. S. Were not unprecedented election is finally delivered
