A new power play in malaysia Opposition LeaderAhmad Abraham says he has the backing to topple the Prime Minister and form a new government. And im here to stand with the sports. Discuss ways to host the game safely amid the coronavirus pandemic and in the n. B. A. Playoffs the comeback is on yet again for the Denver Nuggets as they beat the los angeles lakers. 5 years after more than a 1000000 refugees arrived on the continent the head of the European Commission has admitted its asylum policy isnt working on the land has told e. U. Members they must all share the responsibility for refugees and take the pressure off mediterranean nations like malta italy and greece the u. N. Says the use effort so far have often led to devastating human consequences. This package reflects of fair and reasonable balance between responsibility and solidarity among men but states we all share the benefits we all share the burden this package also reflects a very pragmatic and realistic approach we know that we have to build trust among Member States and citizens confidence that we can manage this as a union or Stephanie Deckers on the greek island of lesbos thats where thousands of refugees are stranded and were going to be talking to her in a moment 1st lets go to nashville Natasha Butler in paris natasha what more do we know about the details of this deal. Well what we know is the least its a deal that has been formulated by the commission to try and offer a common migration policy because we heard from the head of the commission there and as you have on the lead in saying that the e. U. Can no longer tolerate having this ad hoc crisis driven response to migration the sort of response we saw in 2015 when the e. U. Was so divided over what to do with people arriving in the bloc then and more recently of course on the greek island of less force so this is a policy which would be a common migration policy a common asylum a policy as well and its got a big focus on preventative measures so that one of the big Building Blocks of it in a way is to try and focus on keeping people out of the European Union in effect stopping them from leaving their home countries in the 1st place there also be a greater emphasis on repatriation on deportation of socalled economic migrants bolstering land and sea borders across the e. U. Too thats another measure that has been discussed now one of the most contentious measures it is on Asylum Seekers its only been a Sticking Point in the past what the commission is proposing is that Asylum Seekers are really distributed among the Member States of the e. U. But it wont be a mandatory scheme Member States will be given Cash Incentives for example in order to host refugees this all will work if more store all of the countries sign up to work but what is the likelihood that that is going to happen. Well thats always the question with the e. U. Policy all 27 Member States have to agree for a policy to become a reality for it to take effect and of course one of the big issues and hurdles is what happens with Asylum Seekers in the European Union it is one of the main issues that is consistently divided e. U. Member states in the past and what the commission has done is obviously a good knowledge this and that is why they are not going down the path of mandatory redistribution of Asylum Seekers in the past we are calling those quotas in which a member state will be forced to take refugees and that is because e. U. Commission knows that some countries like poland and hungary simply are not going to sign up to a deal like this so that is why theyve made that a little bit more flexible now some rights activists might say that thats unreasonable and unfortunate and should be the you should take a much stronger position on all Member States taking responsibility you can mission is presenting this is a way that all Member States going to lose show some solidarity for those who are hosting refugees they will be contributing in other ways natasha thanks very much those natasha bottom part of us giving us the details of that european refugee deal lets go live to Stephanie Decker whos been reporting from lesbos over the past week for youve been telling us some hollowing stories about some of the refugees and what theyve been going through since that fire particularly in the morea camp just a couple of weeks ago just talk us through what the circumstances are for the refugees now. Well theyve all been moved into the new camp just behind us and the only reason why europe is talking about this is because moria camp as you mentioned burned to the ground just over 2 weeks ago and people were sleeping on the streets whove been here for just over 2 weeks now sleeping rough and prefer almost to stay on the streets with no help rather than moving into this new camp because they say they fear its going to be just as bad as morea was it was really a symbol of the failure of the policies robin if you listen to what theyve come up with today you listen to what i was saying it doesnt seem to be anything thats really going to in deviate situation for these people many of them and then waiting over a year for an answer to their writing procedures and certainly i think also we need to make clear that even when refugees get asylum it still remains a very very difficult process because there is very little help there is hardly any form of integration when it comes to here in greece and other and other countries so it is a constant challenging situation for the mooches talking to a man from afghanistan who had to asylum given to him he can currently not get off the island because of the situation also with corona so you have so many many layers and also he told us he was very fearful about what the future held for him about whether he could find a job when that be help for him to integrate into society so you know that these people are facing really really difficult toss and they need an infrastructure that is certainly more helpful than it is now certainly everyone will tell you here 70 decker bus giving us the data from the island of lesbos stuff we thank you very much indeed. Protests have broken out in the russian capital after Alexander Lukashenko had himself sworn in as president in an unannounced ceremony the syrians have joined the opposition in calling for an immediate campaign of civil disobedience schenker took his version of office in front of several 100 government officials who have been under mounting pressure to resign after last months disputed election several countries say they wont recognize his presidency didnt stupid any of dollars in this budget deal to the day of assuming the post of the president in all gratian day is the day of our victory convincing and faithful we were not just electing the president of the country we were defending our values our peaceful life our sovereignty and our independence and in this regard there is a lot to be done. For a very very corker is joining me now from vilnius in neighboring lithuania hes a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council good to have you with us on why do you think that president chose to do is a ceremony this way. When i think he didnt have other choice and their stance and and his feel so the pressure of the street and their stands that if he will make this inauguration public and open to everyone and many protesters perhaps hundreds of thousands will come and will join the in duration and make it so pleasant and says he expected but i think their protest actually right now this moment to spark in and meant another sentence on the sunday people are planning to do that people say no duration and to know your rate and their opposition candidates for planning to have most camp and to show how their real inauguration math must happen the oppositions been calling for civil disobedience and we understand as i mentioned before that students are now joining with the opposition how different do you think that the protests that we see now in the streets could be from the protests that weve seen before. I think the process will not change right now or significantly they will be am now looking the same way as they looked previous 2 months on the weekdays there are a small protest in neighborhoods and communities and on the weekend some saturday and sunday is there a huge trellis gathering thousands of people once this sunday i think we can expect several 100 thousands on the streets in minsk and of belarus there is also a possibility that the increase of violence. Will be possible. Several countries as i mentioned have said that they are not going to recognize the presidency of Alexander Lukashenko what impact is that going to have on him and what impact is that likely to have in the future on if nothing changes. Question will try to save his legitimacy so long as possible right now henderson and he doesnt have 4 in the republic of the major powers include an era p. In the union the United States of america did not recognize him as a legitimate president the limited utility he has right now our police army and part of the power vertical hes still in control but i think step by step day by day he will be in control over of power vertical and more and more people will be flippin and it will be supporting the democratic course when the Critical Mass of these defectors will be created he will lose the control over the situation and the beauty pill radiate day by day he is losing power and when economic crisis will happen and be there few weeks and then when you drop this will spark even more massive even more protective even more aggressive and the police and army will not be able to do anything about them so let me just be clear on what youre saying because im interested in what would be the Tipping Point that those of us looking from the outside in would be able to identify the point at which the Security Forces the military and the police start to withdraw their support for a look at shankar because one gets the impression that essentially that is the only thing that is holding look in power at the moment. I would explain like it with simple language so there is the crack in the system right now and this crick was or was made the 3rd is the softer election some august 9 august 12th now all question can manage to make the work so he says the ball lies through the system somehow he putin he changed the diplomats he changed officials he changed the generals some call him else in the army but now when the economic crisis will happen there will be another correct made on the system and that will be the Tipping Point that will be the moment when the whole regime can collapse and theres then that there will and he made all possible you know gratian will not be sacked point and this is why he made it secret this is why he made it so small and this is why he he he just he just tried to avoid any possible threat to himself so all you know gratian has survived for the next possible to pinpoint will be economic crisis when bear is current so will fall down when the people will get out of the street massively it will not be able to stop them and that will be Tipping Point really interesting get your thoughts on this from a very corker we appreciate your joining us and our visitor thank you very much and good. Thank you russian Opposition Leader alexina vonnie has been discharged from a burning hospital where he was being treated for poisoning the kremlin critic says he has a long rehabilitation ahead he spent more than a month in the hospital and was in a coma for half the time german experts believe he was poisoned with a nerve agent novacek moscow is denying involvement by dominic kings joining us live from berlin we understand that alex in avani has been speaking about this whats he been saying dominick. Yes posting several different messages on his social media profile specifically on the social media platform instagram talking about his sensation and being discharged at last talking about the difficulties that his condition has presented him with but starting off by referring to his reaction when the 1st time after being brought out of that coma that he was in for such a long time when the 1st time he was put in front of a mirror hes described the sensation had felt as though he says he was looking back at looking back at him was a character from the film the lord of the rings and it was not an elf he says he says he felt terribly disappointed by this and wondered if ever he would be discharged but of course he has been discharged from the hospital and hes talked about the sorts of problems hes been facing how the effect of this poisoning it worked on the motor neuron functions of the human body of of his body basically interfering with the way the brain communicates with the muscles of the body so he says that he cant catch a ball if someone throws it so he starts he really can catch a ball if somebody throws it he can throw it back because his body cant fulfill those particular functions to have had a quite a get an insight into the way he feels about things right now but as has been said rehabilitation is the main focus of his energy of his intent and of his intentions right now is on getting rehabilitation as a full control of his system as he possibly can as donna came in bringing us up to date from berlin dominic thank you very much indeed. But of more ahead on the news hour including chinese tech giant hallways says its been under attack and its struggling to survive well explain why it blames the u. S. Thousands displaced in villages destroyed now fears sudans catastrophic floods could trigger a food crisis. And in sports football transpo news including a move from boston on a striker luis suarez. The u. S. Has begun 3 days of official tributes to Late Supreme CourtJustice Ruth Bader ginsburg are coffins being carried into americas top court what itll remain until friday Justice Ginsburg is the 1st woman to receive the owner she died last week at the end of at the age of 87 of pancreatic cancer President Donald Trump is expected to pay his respects on thursday hes vowed to fill her seat on the Supreme Court before the election next month despite outrage from democrats while rosalynn jordan is live at the Supreme Court in washington d. C. This is clearly a very historic occasion given the fact that it is the 1st time that a woman has been given this on the road is just talk us through what the atmosphere has been like and who has been paying their respects. Well in the past 90 minutes or so there was a short ceremony inside the u. S. Supreme Court Building behind me where the casket holding a justice can byrd was basically brought in there was a short statement made by the chief Justice John Roberts and then the rest of the ceremony proceeded behind closed doors where members of the justices family her colleagues and her former law clerks all gathered for a short ceremony starting this 3 day public member remember. And of Justice Ruth Bader ginsburg her coffin has now been brought to the top of the steps at the Supreme Court building where the public is filing by until about 10 pm local time today and tomorrow that would be thursday she was paid their respects her coffin will then be moved to the u. S. Capitol statuary hall where she will lie in state on friday she will be the 2nd woman who will be in the Capitol Building properly she will be lying in state the only other person who will have lain in state who was also a Supreme Court justice the former president william taft rose just as youve been describing the situations as were looking at live pictures from outside the Supreme Court as you say members of the public have been following pos to pay their respects we see a picture of the continue the body of Ruth Bader Ginsburg having said that politics continues in the United States this is sparked a fierce debate about filling that Supreme Court vacancy in the run up to a president ial election just talk us through what the situation is with that. Well certainly the potential for ginsburg leaving her seat vacant has been a very hot political topic in washington all year long and not even an hour after the announcement of her death on friday there were already political machinations at work what we have now is a situation where Senate Republicans who are responsible for Holding Confirmation hearings and dandy confirmation vote on nominees to sit on the high court have basically marshal their forces and they say that they will be able to support whomever donald trump the u. S. President nominates however the question now comes down to timing will the Senate Republicans be able to actually get the nomination from the president who is expected to make it on this coming saturday go through the background process hold confirmation hearings and hold a vote all before november 3rd which is of course election day here in the United StatesSenate Republicans have said that target because they would like to see the vacancy filled very quickly there is an important case coming before the court on november 10th one week after election day that potentially could spell the end of the socalled obamacare act or the Health Care Law that was passed during Barack Obamas presidency that expanded coverage for millions of americans who did not have Good Health Insurance coverage before then but Senate Democrats are saying that theyre going to try to do what they can to slow down the process because even though they know they dont have the votes to prevent the confirmation they say that it would it is incorrect to allow the sitting president to have someone installed on the court so quickly as structurally so close to an election they say the republicans themselves set this president back and. What he 16 when there was another vacancy on the high court and they are trying to seeing if theres any way they can at least slow down the process Senate Democrats simply do not have the votes this roselyn jordan live in the Supreme Court in washington d. To treat aljazeera aging. Malaysia could be said for more political upheaval just months after a new Prime Minister came to power the Opposition LeaderAnwar Ibrahim says hes gathered enough support in parliament to oust marketing scene and form a new government the challenge comes as marketings go coalition tries to salvage the economy which is be badly hit by the pandemic forms the reports from kuala lumpur. A bold pronouncement by malaysias Opposition LeaderAnwar Ibrahim whose reformist government was removed from power 7 months ago. We have. A straw for me to vote majority a lot of 56. His next move and possibly hurdle is to meet the king and convince the royal ruler that he commands the confidence of the majority in parliament and should be appointed Prime Minister. Says hes been granted an audience with the king but the meeting had to be postponed because the monarch is in hospital. And was alliance of Hope Coalition was elected in 2018 defeating the governing alliance known as paris on the us you know the had been in power for more than 60 years he was in prison for sort of me at the time on what he says were trumped up charges he was pardoned days after the election the premiership went to Mahathir Mohamad a former Prime Minister who had returned from retirement to defeat. On the understanding that he would hand over power within 2 years but before that could happen the government collapsed in trying to take power on what is using a tactic Prime Minister used in february and his supporters left the then governing coalition and joined forces with politicians defeated in the 2018 election including former leader. Who was convicted of corruption a few months ago in response Prime Minister in issued a statement unless claims remain just that until he can prove otherwise and that he remains the rightful Prime Minister we didnt had a televised speech on the pandemic appeared to address announcement indirectly. By pill to your brothers and sisters to reject the blind actions of some politicians deliberately want to affect the political stability of the countrys economic Recovery Plan which is being implemented well at the moment analysts say the current scenario could develop in several ways the Prime Minister could ask for parliament to be dissolved triggering stopped elections but victory for him and his allies is far from a shirt there was a statement made by one of his component party the former leading party in malaysia. Who controlled the government for almost over 60 years on no theyve indicated very sort of mixed signals i think theyre pushing for dissolution and its not clear that theyre fully backing with it so were going to have to see how this plays out she also says we did is unlikely to step down the 3rd scenario is that the political jostling will continue and politics in malaysia remains in a state of flux. The import. United nations General Assembly is underway now most of its being held virtually this year because of the pandemic the king of saudi arabia spoke earlier and he used his time to criticize irans involvement in yemen and called for an end to what he says is irans sponsorship of terrorism but our diplomatic editor james bays is joining us live from the United Nations and james there were some key issues that people might have been hoping he was going to talk about or at least allude to what did he actually say. Well i dont think there was a great deal new what was new was that a saudi king was actually addressing the General Assembly. Although it was a virtual address you actually have a bigger roster of World Leaders this year than you normally do because of course they dont have to come to new york they can address this from their Capital Cities the saudi king talked about iran and was critical of iran although no new specifics on what should happen with regard to the Iran Nuclear Deal of course he focused on the war in yemen 5 years on clearly the Saudi Led Coalition i think is getting somewhat exhausted by war and the u. S. Its main partner saudis main partner in that coalition is pulling back from the war but no indication in the saudi king speech that saudi arabia is going to stop its offensive activities in yemen although it welcomes the work of the u. N. It also has said that it continues to give money to humanitarian causes linked to yemen although i can tell you the u. N. Has been somewhat critical in recent months that saudi arabias promise money and not actually come up with that money the other thing that i think was notable in the speech was about israel and the palestinians and very much the existing longstanding saudi view on that conflict and no specific mention of the new peace deals done between israel and the United Arab Emirates in israel. In bahrain now those are 2 countries the u. A. E. And bahrain that normally have their Foreign Policy very closely aligned with saudi arabia but no specific mention of those peace deals and just a very vague mention that the kingdom of saudi arabia broadly supports the efforts of the trumpet ministration on middle east peace james bays thanks very much indeed as james has said the United Nations. Still ahead on aljazeera theyve long been at all this but there is something President Trump and she jumping to have in common. Plus one of the biggest beach scenes of whales in australian history scientists try to find out where nearly 500. 00 models are stranded off tasmania. And in sports with peter Major League Baseball action including another Division Title for the l. A. Dodgers. And theres a fairly calm picture across much of the middle east but there is a bit of an improvement in stall slightly through the eastern end of the mediterranean good guys of course we would expect those but the womens beginning to change directions they coming in from the mediterranean a bit of a cool fail to things like the much better 28 injuries than the same across into beirut on a sin a temperature. Want to work in the east and keep by friday a few more and that what should be the thames down a little bit more in ankara with a high of 24 to the south is warmer than that 45 degrees. 37 and again feeling pretty humid the winds really are very lions den down into Central Africa plenty of activity here and in fact theres rain is beginning to push further south sydney plenty of cloud further south so as we go through thursday at the d. L. C. Seeing some heavier downpours and also beginning to extend into these Northern Areas of angola all the. Coastal areas of the towns there up towards kenya and somalia youll also notice here by friday the rain back in the forecast into south africa but for johannesburg it stays fine and dry and also pretty warm for the next few days that in friday 29. 00 against an average of 23. 00 as the time will those shows do begin to push in and it does tend to bring the temperature down over the next few days. You want to go to see it in my mind of our top stories this hour protests have broken out in the by the russian capital after Alexander Lukashenko at himself sworn in as president in an unannounced ceremony students have joined the opposition in calling for an immediate campaign of civil disobedience. Russian Opposition Leader actually no vonnie has been discharged from the berlin hospital but says he has a long rehabilitation ahead is being treated there for the past month after being poisoned with a nerve agent and. The head of the European Commission ursula von delaying has called on the e. U. Member states to share responsibility for refugees the blocs new plan hopes to ease pressure on mediterranean nations which handle a disproportionate number of arrivals. Or europes Border Agency says last year there were 90 percent fewer people arriving at the height of the refugee crisis back in 2015 about 140000 irregular migrant arrivals were recorded in 2019 the most arrivals around 83000 of them were made through greek islands thats followed by rivals in spain and italy germany accepted the largest amount of people more than 116000 france and spain come in 2nd and 3rd respectively but 720000. 00 asylum applications were filed last year. Far larger number than the arrivals marta for tis hes the director of europe and shes joining me now by skype from london i understand that youre also in charge of the o. D. O. s focus on migration so we appreciate your time enjoying this on aljazeera lets talk about this deal 1st of all what do you think is driving europe to do it no desire to help the refugees or a fear that the refugees are going to start crossing in their borders. This is a long overdue proposal it comes natural after many years of failure sensibly to me to tell them if tinas in a kind of the European Union to find what i would say our wedding tension and for once rather pragmatic ways to find agreement a momentous day to do particular reason as an employee but at the same time it does not propose much it is new and i fear it risk disappointing and for a number of reasons. If it does it now also given whats happening in madea anime housecats in europe in relation to people crossing mr rayney and him being stranded in places like moria where so many lies in the last and on background the proposed pact which of course Member States and now need to discuss and agree through the time into the council actually tries to find a solution to what he recognized the importance of failures and namely the Commission Proposes stepping in is a choice in a crisis is where a country like in this case greece but we see it in the past is a depression point and human crisis situation and basically put for his program a pragmatic sense of pledges and all requirements of different members basic step forward and in that car based on what they can do based on their resources their own talk elations rather than agreeing principles to share a predetermined sort of proportion of refugees a full short on for minimizing and commitment from Member States and predications but it comes forward a set of proposals on how Member States can decide to cooperate and to play that part and exemptions for those who dont who said the European Commission president or 7 delenn has said the new pact would rebuild trust between Member States but it doesnt seem to be a great deal of trust between the Member States and the doesnt seem to be a lot of trust between the refugees and europe on just about anybody else can this actually work when there is such distrust amongst everybody. I think trust is is low and loans between the european institutions and european citizens and settlement is a migration top trust has been famously low Member States i think this proposal goes somewhere some way in trying to find a middle ground between the very different and diverging. That exists and is meant to say so is is somewhat in between the extreme positions that hungary has on one hand and will to go all the way to the other hand to the other side trying to find something workable in pragmatic where they can at least have grounds to find some agreements however where it does fall short i believe in that is recognizing that there is actually a lot will potential for some Member States to actually do a lot more if they do not have to ordinary you know the 27 of them recognizing that the Political Landscape is very bad and that domestically immigration in some countries remains high and the agenda and some countries are not prepared to cooperate what i think we now need on the basis of this proposal is to go further by allowing and actually encouraging Member States such as portugal germany france italy were serving interests in the last Regional Elections and also in current recanted france portugal to the will host the president s in the next 6 months to then use this pact as a springboard to come up with a much stronger elians among themselves to actually take not designed action that we see in france for example in the last week proposing to fast track citizenship for de ascension and documented and sensual because there are countries in the caribbean response weve seen germany being compact once again to welcome refugees stranded in money and so if Member States can now you know find pragmatic ways to come together where there is the political will to actually step up to the to the to the challenge of doing more particularly recognizing how much european states need new laws Migrant Workers including to face up to the big challenges uptick of economic and recovery from it. Well we really appreciate you giving us the benefit of your expertise in this model for us the director of audio europe we appreciate your time thank you man thank you thank you. Talks between the taliban and Afghan Government making little progress afghanistans top peace negotiator. Says finding a middle ground is the only way to end the years long conflict most im a binge of it is in doha but those talks are being held finding out what the major stumbling blocks are. Theyre only discussing tells in conditions at the moment so the wider group can meet they havent even discussed the agenda the Sticking Points remain islamic jurisprudence the use of language as well as inclusion of some of the elements that both sides are not happy with the taliban are saying that the islamic jurisprudence the 100 feet fit or jurisprudence in law should be the guiding principle and the deciding principle in terms of conflict resolution but the Afghan Government is saying that there are minority heroes sikhs and hindus who cannot be left out in from this initial agreement and terms and conditions then the taliban want islamic sharia to replace social justice in terms such as in sunda which again has been not welcomed by the other side and then there are issues in terms of the inclusion of the doha dialogue the Peace Process which started between the taliban and the American Government which the of gun side is objecting to in saying that because they were not party to the agreement they should not at this point included inside these terms and conditions there has been some progress weve been speaking to all players including International Partners and they have been saying that they are still hopeful that there is going to be more headway thats to be made but as these talks continue and stalled in doha fighting continues on the ground in afghanistan in the last 48 to 72 hours dozens of Afghan Government forces have been killed both sides accusing each other of escalating the tensions that. More than 100000 homes in sudan have been damaged or destroyed in recent floods huge areas of farmland are underwater and victims admits its unlikely the government can help them recover it morgan reports from the River Nile State. This is whats left of i leave out the last home in sudans or now state he says his farm used to extend from here to the banks of the nile nearly 2 kilometers away now the river is one with the farm destroying what was his main source of income for live in mother island i used to live in this house with my kids and their families thats all gone now on the farm where i used to plant onions or not is all destroyed ive lost nearly 20000. 00 because of the floods but thats just from what i had ready for harvest this season and now i cant farm for winter and i dont know if ill get any government assistance in the. Alley says its hard for him to know exactly how much financial damage the floods have done to his farm hell have to wait until the waters dry out completely to find out his village of the layout is one of dozens on the banks of the nile in River Nile State that was destroyed by floods countrywide hundreds of villages were also destroyed because of the river rising to levels not seen in a century at least 120 people have been killed and more than 600000 have been displaced most now are waiting for government response to cope with the situation after losing either most or all of their belongings. Manana yeah the muslim we need the government to come and take care of the water thats in the houses because the water is now mixed research water from the latrines that collapsed we need to avoid malaria color and go hard here because we cant deal with diseases on top of losing our homes the damage in chicago a village nearly 5 kilometers away has forced all of its 1000 families out of their homes most had relied on farming and livestock for income both devastated by the floods thank you a village which residents say was once vibrant with schools markets and farms now look like this their homes either damaged or destroyed so dans government which has declared a state of emergency says the nile has receded in many parts of the country its distributed tents and food aid to help those affected in the state but many say its not enough even as the level of the nile river drops to where it was prior to the floods sudans government and aid organizations say the impact of the damage will continue for months with Agriculture Health care and economy all affected and here in rebel states the residents say a slow response will make the effects last even longer. And chef italy for us to get on the boat with us to see what remains of her family home she couldnt help but break down when she saw what shes lost. This house is where i lived with my mother and father its the home where i got married and had my kids and when my grandkids were born all those memories were in this house of lost but i thank god my children and grandchildren are alive and were away when the house collapsed im now waiting to know government plans to help us recover and rebuild. A recovery that may take months if not here is in a country already facing an economic crisis and where more than 60 percent live in poverty many say they expect the Economic Situation to worsen in the coming weeks if no help is offered he will morgan on to 0 River Nile State dry conditions and record temperatures of course wildfires to spread along the west coast of the u. Have captured the worlds imagination and inspired horror but they are not the only ones in the amazon rain forest that swaths of land are on fire terrifying uncontrollable blazes tore through large parts of australia last year and in the arctic vast fires are consuming the tundra and peat lands of siberia an area that has never burned before on such a scale a fire historian who has studied fars for decades says we have entered a new era im calling it the piracy in and that is because i think were living in a fire age the industrial scale burning of fossil fuels has changed the planet and fires are but one consequence once the active tune of our fossil fuel burning. Scaled up. To the point that its an end to the climate all the collateral effects which were discovering are very unhelpful for the world weve created widespread fires create a negative feedback loop speeding up Climate Change these wildfires have already sent more than 30 megatons of carbon into the earths atmosphere according to him European Atmospheric Monitoring Service now all of that carbon will eventually contribute further to Global Warming in the normal course of events burned forests would regroup over time and the trees and plants would reabsorbed much of that carbon but the planet is changing woodlands will become grasslands grasslands may become desert areas that we think of as. A connector as well it may become Something Else im not sure we we really understand all the all those possibilities some policy makers clearly. See the disastrous future ahead the experience that we have in the state of california just underscoring the reality of the ravages of Climate Change others turn a blind eye it will start getting cooler i will just you just watch even if fossil fuel burning were stopped overnight the world would continue warming for generations because of the Greenhouse Gases already emitted theres no vaccine for fire were going to be dealing with it and managing it in perpetuity this is our planets new normal as humanity enters the age of fire rob reynolds aljazeera portland oregon. The problem is that most of the whales that ended up stranding appeal to authority have died and any relatively few have been able to be rescued and some of those at peta are protests and back into the danger zone again so its a very serious and wiring process going on while such as pilot whales use sign a and they use sonar to help navigate through complex underwater topography and sometimes if the sun our signal hits sandbanks and things like that they dont actually get a return signal so they dont realize that something is in their pathway and they keep swimming assuming its open ocean we dont really know why so many wiles trained we know that pollock whales are very social animals they hardly socialite many mammals and they are in big family groups and sometimes as big family groups aggregate and the p.
