As a matter of fact i would love for the palestinians to come join but their leadership has 2 problems the 1st problem is there are 2 leaderships there are the terrorist thugs in iran funded in gaza who cause so much suffering to 2000000 palestinians and tremendous danger to israel unless and until they change their ways there is little hope of a Peace Agreement with all of the palestinians separately you have the leadership in ramallah who time and time again refused to engage refused to engage directly with israel their method is to go to the United Nations the European Union the road to peace is not through the United Nations can be very clearly some domestic issues that came both for israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as President Trumpets 49 days now to the election and president desperate name needed a win. This is a welcome distraction for both the israeli leader and the u. S. President who are being hit hard in terms of criticisms over the handling of covert night tina add to that of course with the israeli leader his own criminal trial that is you know certainly those proceedings in play so these are welcome distractions at the same time there is a lot of criticism about this here in washington. Even particularly from some members of congress its notable that there are no prominent democrats present at this ceremony nancy pelosi calling it a distraction at one point shes just released ringback a statement as the leader of the house of representatives calling this an important day but also that congress will be scrutinizing this particularly when it comes to future arms deals particularly the sale of f. 35 to the United Arab Emirates and thats one of the concerns that is spurning an arms race kimberly what should we read into the Different Countries decided to send in israel has their Prime Minister that Benjamin Netanyahu but weve only seen the Foreign Ministers from the the in the 2 arab nations it is there a slight implied him. The well certainly thats a question i pose to the administration theyre denying theres any sort of slight speculation would have it that in fact this is on the part of the u. A. E. And bahrain an effort to play both sides depending on who wins the u. S. President is standing just to my right so we are expecting him to kind of walk forward but there is a lot of media kind of running trying to get that shot its not clear the pathway the president s going to walk or who he is accompanied by its difficult for me to see but certainly he what im being told is that he is with be israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu in fact yes i can see them there are standing in whats known as the colonnade right outside of the west wing and right now they are walking it appears towards the south lawn so not far from where im standing right now so this is certainly a signal that things are imminent theres a bit of a hash of paan the crowd theres no question that this is something the u. S. President wants in terms of a photo opportunity the opportunity to be seen with the israeli israeli leader you have to remember that a lot of americans are of jewish descent are practicing and would like to see donald trump reelected and so he needs to have this particular photo opportunity and that is one that hes hoping will play on the front pages in the newspapers moving forward but at the same time in terms of this abraham agreement as its being called or agreements this is not a big deal for most americans i can tell you that well theres a lot of International Attention the domestic attention not so great in fact its mostly foreign media here and in fact when you ask ordinary americans what the top priority would be it would be getting the economy back on track health care and the fact that so much of the country is still shut down as a result of coke at 19 so this is somewhat interesting the timing of all of this the fact that this is coming so close. President clearly looking for Foreign Policy wins trying to show that he has achieved something but again when you look at some of the promises the president made whether it be trying to achieve the deal of the century between israel the palestinians thats not happening the endless wars he promised to pull the United States out of also not happening there are still troops in iraq afghanistan and syria to just name a few of the places where there is a u. S. Footprint so again there is a lot of scrutiny a lot of confusion perhaps about some of the details of this would of course will be dissected once this is signed very much so i will can believe as you were saying we are seeing president along with some of the other dignitaries and israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approach the south lawn there and there is 4 chairs set up with all the flags behind them ready for that signing ceremony and then and potentially some some statements afterwards you mentioned that that been there is some optimism potentially even some confidence that other countries may follow suit is there a sense of who might do. No there isnt in fact this was a question that was put directly to the u. S. President he always speaks in optimistic terms and this would be perhaps an example of that saying that in fact he believes there could be at least 5 different nations that are in discussions that could be joining on were expecting that there could be an announcement in these proceedings at the moment of potentially another country that is at least present but may not be signing today we are hearing that could be oman but at the same time the u. President has not specified who these other nations might be now again he was asked why the palestinians are not here he said well were talking to them and theyll be a part of it at the right time the feeling of this is that this is a framework for dialogue but again we know from one of the top negotiators the palestinian side saab erekat that he said this is not a framework for peace but instead is an agreement for a military apparatus one that could lead to potential weapons sales but in no way will bring any sort of peace or help the people who are trapped in gaza or even if this is the end of the blockade of qatar none of that is in this agreement so there are some glaring omissions even as the administration tries to tout what they see as a Foreign Policy success as well weve also seen Jared Kushner around there not far from here today ken lay and his wife ivanka i mentioned tyrant is very celebre toria having been very involved in this tale where does this leave his attempts at the deal of the century when does this name the Peace Process. Congress that democrats there are not particularly supportive of this particular event although nancy pelosi releasing a statement calling it important given the fact that they dont want to be seen in advance of an election giving donald trump any sort of win and you have to remember when it comes to the democrats that there are many is the progressive wing of the party which is further left many supporters of Bernie Sanders who feel that the way that the palestinians have been treated by the United States by israel is reprehensible is a human rights abuse and it can no way support any of what is happening or is condone it in any way so there are many members of congress that will not want to be for us here are not present at the same time there are some in the more moderate central part of the political spectrum who do see this is significant in terms of the marking but again its all about wording and the wording chosen is this is an important day not the historic one that the u.
