Spiritual worship and so normally climb japans mount fuji this time of year after make all the plans because of the krona virus pandemic. The un special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings has presented her annual report to the Human Rights Council and its raising concerns about the growing use of armed drones for targeted killings Agnes Kalamata had earlier declared the u. S. Drone strike in january that killed top iranian general concepts in the mahdi illegal she said the International Community faces the prospect of some countries eliminating military targets outside of what she calls no wooden walls. Drones are becoming stealthy or speedier smaller more lethal and can be or parry to by teams located south thousands of kilometers away and in my opinion and the opinion of all the experts so you have consultant over the last 6 months these is bringing the world to a critical point in regulating the use of armed drones and the use of force who arent drones lets go now to Sample Survey who is in terror and say theyre talking with generally about drones but she also called the killing of irans top general illegal under International Law and said there was no evidence to back up the u. S. Claim that it was carried out to avoid an imminent attack on American Interest so whats terence response. Well it really seems like iranian leaders in tehran here are letting the United Nations do the talking for them so far we havent had any response from leaders here in tehran but we can expect in the coming hours and days to likely hear from irans representatives at the United Nations most likely they will reinforce what the special report tour has said in her report it is of no surprise that iran will be welcoming this whole idea that the killing of qassam cilla money was extrajudicial that it was illegal a task force set up here in the country in the weeks that followed his killing were made up of some of the most influential bodies here in the country including the Foreign Ministry the judiciary the Supreme National Security Council and members of the money family all working towards investigating the circumstances of the attack that killed them as well as pursuing justice to so far theyve done little more than publicly condemn the United States on the domestic side on the civilian side theres been of course a massive outpouring of both grief and anger over civil monies killing many iranians calling for more action from iran iran simply retaliated in the days after. Killing by attacking an american air base in many iranians have been demanding more in the way of revenge and retribution for the killing of someone who is arguably one of the most popular public figures in the countrys history im wondering does this help iran in any way and tens of taking legal action of a saudi money is killing. Absolutely now after the attack on the u. S. Air base in both irans government shifted focus clearly from practical measures to more legal measures the Foreign Ministry has said it has identified as many as 40 people that it says was involved in the killing of cars and so the money they say they were both americans and not americans that this assassination was an International Effort that was led by the United States to assassinate general cos and so the money theyve also in the last month of course famously they demanded that 35. 00 named. Antagonise people that they said were behind this including President Donald Trump they forwarded those names to interpol and demanded those people be arrested of course interpol did not comply with that request but irans government has said that it will pursue legally in the International Courts justice for cost in somalia so the money for years this was the man who represented us he was a symbol of National Security for all the wrong ones and now irans government is pursuing justice and are likely in the years to come turn him into a symbol for pursuing justice for their government thanks for that. Serbia has decided to not go ahead with plans to impose a weekend coronavirus lockdown after 2 days of protests thousands of people tried to storm the parliament on wednesday night it also led to wider anger over the governments handling of the pandemic the president has blamed wednesdays violence on hooligans. No you dont want to say im all out people in belgrade and you know the sad and all of the cities not to confront the hooligans themselves we will do that as a state we will work and we will win we will preserve peace for our country surrender was never an option. Ill just there is just not how do you call it chez maul from belgrade the government decided not to go along with the reimposing of the curfew here in serbia this weekend that is something that sparked the protests on wednesday night when the president of which are known as the curfew will go on but the protesters obviously there was sort of a pressure on him the 1st protests the ones that it was sort of a pressure on him because yesterday can i was that probably there wont be a curfew until after the Prime Minister through decide that to go with a Health Care Minister and to wait to the to go read the other doctors who are dealing with this corona crisis here in serbia so there will be no curfew there will be some other restrictions which are smaller than the curfew but there will be no curfew protest continued even yesterday when it was a knows that there will be probably no curfew and we will see today what will happen everybody expects me everybody at least people who were last night on the streets they expect that it will continue with protesting tonight because one of the one of the ideas of the protest was the change of government here in serbia and to change the way that dealing with the government is dealing with this covert crisis. The buttes un recognized government says its found a prison used by will not wholly for half the torture upon its government leaders in tripoli and calling on the un to investigate mass graves discovered near the prison in tottenham. Serbia has moved back plans to impose a weekend coronavirus lockdown after 2 days of protests thousands of people tried to storm the parliament on wednesday noyce the long term plans were initially announced. Following up now on that breaking news the u. S. Supreme court has ruled that manhattans District Attorney can obtain President Donald Trumps tax returns she is outside the Supreme Court in washington d. C. So she how this is part one of 2 cases were expecting to have a ruling on how significant is this. Right which are going to ruling on the other case which is a congressional request for drugs for them for documents in about 4 minutes time this was a case that related to the new york District Attorney on the grand jury investigation into allegations of financial impropriety by ball drop of the Trump Organization specifically related to his payment of hush money payments on the run up the election but also folding in various other allegations as well dont look that the. Just of it was the grand jury and cyrus vance the District Attorney won kids the tax records from Donald Trumps Accounting Firm over over several years to help in the grand jury investigation into all of this trump said wait a 2nd the trouble is immune from prosecution while hes in office he should also be immune from all of these sorts of requests for information because any politically motivated District Attorney anywhere in the country can just bombard the president with subpoenas and legal actions which would mean that the president couldnt do his job properly so this has to be stopped by 7. 00 to 2. 00 margin the Supremes Court has disagreed a 7. 00 to 2. 00 margin including both of trumps appointees such as mr cavanaugh which will probably lead to some grumpy reading in the white house but one would imagine that saying wait a 2nd no there is a special immunity from from these sorts of proceedings for the president its true however the legal precedent does suggest that a sitting president called be indicted but the investigations can still go on the can still be under way requests for documents and still happen as weve seen with president nixon president Clinton Clinton was deposed by by prosecutor ones so that was always a bit tenuous there is precedent to share president s have surrender information to the legal legal authorities and the idea though that hell be overly bold good bye bye bye requests that doesnt stand up to president either as i discovered you know in the Supreme Court case that led to the release of the watergate tapes so 1st defeat then the president this is an obstacle for going as the congressional case as far as the election is concerned because the grand jury in new yorks proceedings are private confidential they dont get released until we get into or get some sort of judgment so theoretically that doesnt mean were going to see any of these financial records before the election however leaks unprecedented but at least theoretically this doesnt mean that we get to see don. Tax records financial records that however might change in the next minute depending on the the courts judgment on the congressional case for a whole host of financial records from President Trump and his organization lets talk a little bit more if we can about what we are expected to hear in the next minute or so that ruling so the other ruling is because house committees democrat later house committees i believe in Congress Want information about trumps financial records what are they hoping to find. Well thats part of the question the Trump Lawyers say look this is a fishing expedition this is this has no legislative purpose this is members of congress and you know the newly Democratic House of representatives when these when these cases when these requests and these subpoenas went in to both trumps accounting for the 2 Banks Deutsche Bank and capital one for records this is a fishing expedition this is again harassment and it shouldnt be allowed the Congressional Committees say no we want to look at these allegations all. Human side is the president profiting from the office of the president from these island actions which are foreign influence and weve always have always had foreign leverage and so on Michael Cohen president troubles for the lawyer testified under oath in congress that its routine for the trunk of the troubled guys nation to fiddle the books to overstate how much money he has to. Get favorable terms but understate how much money has to the tax authorities so he pays less tax so you know the congress is saying no we need to follow up on this to check whether all regulations laws are working and whether they need to be amended Donald Trumps lawyer said no this is just a this is just speculative and what this will mean is that any president now or in the future can be subpoenaed for the most personal information just on the off chance that some legislation may may may result from that so thats their argument and thats what were waiting for right now and here we go so this is the case. This is a congressional case we have a ruling and im afraid im going to have to refresh my while here to. Remind our viewers this is the Supreme Court ruling on whether that President Donald Trump can keep his financial records from being released to congress this is a ruling also really all the limits of president ial privilege the balance of power between law make his and the white house we have just as we had had the ruling regarding the Supreme Court ruling that the manhattan District Attorney can obtain Donald Trumps tax returns. But we are waiting on that that result in the other case regarding releasing financial records to congress and of course donald trump refusing to hand over this information breaks with yaz of tradition of president s releasing their tax returns i believe we are going to stay with shihab or are we going to move on yes were staying with shihab. Do we have any results yet. Yeah speed read it. So this one might be much more complicated because its certainly different possibilities here. And able to get 19 free committees of the u. S. House of representatives issued for subpoenas seeking information. Im just reading here that the Supreme Court has thrown out rulings allowing this democratic led Congressional Committee to get trumps financial records and is now sending the dispute back to the lower courts because of course this is already gone through the lower courts to get to the point of the Supreme Court ruling. She had to explain what this was really interesting because that was always it was always there were several options. You have are several options are always several options one of the Supreme Court rules in favor of trump rules in favor of congress but then with a set the say are the separation of posed the Supreme Court we could always say wait a 2nd these are into agency fights so this is a fight between the legislative body and the executive the Judicial Branch of government shouldnt get involved in those necessarily we dont even have a right to get involved in those sorts of those sorts of tussles and that appears to be what what im seeing here. Whether the subpoenas issued exceed the authority of the house under the constitution wait a 2nd that suggests Something Else perhaps. But this is going to take a certain amount of digestion because what this could mean that is if if they say if its going back to the lower courts to say wait a 2nd you actually have jurisdiction over this that could be a double edged sword that could mean that if the courts dont have jurisdiction over trumps over the release of trumps Tax Information Financial Information that means that. Parties in this case do have to release their information but im alone in the long term that could also mean that that congress will never be able to go to the Supreme Court for any legislative and judicial muscle and the judicial muscle whenever they have a subpoena to the executive this actually then could could could would be strengthen the executive because it means that the court should just never get involved when congress and the president have a big fight so. This is going to take some digestion but for the moment it would seem that trumps tax records financial records all safe there were not going to see them before the election thats the one conclusion i can give you but this is you know this is a dense piece of work here and will have to be just a bush the long term ramifications for the idea of separation of pows and the idea of congressional oversight over the executive and that could have long term implications beyond the short term this would appear to mean the structure it was all going to be released before the election unless theres a leak from the ground jury in new york and certainly seems that way we will leave you. To do a little bit of a digesting if you have just joined us in breaking news so we have got 2 rulings from the Supreme Court one saying that the Supreme Court will not allow congress to get Donald Trumps tax and financial records however the new york grand jury subpoena has been been passed through meaning that the Supreme Court the man has a District Attorney can obtain trumps tax returns so 2 different rulings there lets go now to kimberly how could who is live for us outside the white house kimberly what does this all mean have we had any response yet from donald trump. In there its clear that the u. S. President was getting a signal that at least part of this decision was not going to go in his favor particularly when it comes to the grand jury subpoena so we saw the president preemptively tweeting that this was prosecutorial misconduct and also president ial harassment that has been the narrative the president has used since he has taken office that much of these cases that have been put forward in the courts have been politically motivated in other words this is not been something to sort of act on behalf of the American People but instead has been these various filings have been as. Result of his political enemies trying to unseat him part of the socalled resistance that weve seen since the u. S. President took office now i can add to what my colleague she had recounts he has said in terms of what this means for you and i will we see the president s Financial Information something that he has broken precedent with in terms of not wanting to release his tax returns and that has to do with the nature of how a grand jury works and i know i grew up outside of the United States so i was not familiar with this until i moved to the United States but a grand jury is essentially not a jury that you would have in a regular Court Setting where you would have a ruling and the outcome would be public a grand jury is very secret what it is is that its a body of peers and colleagues said and ordinary americans who sit and decide and look at evidence and then decide if charges should be late so its very rare that you would see any of the material thats being considered now having said that leaks do occur and that could occur in this case but again it appears that this ruling means that while the Supreme Court has ruled 7 to 2 that this goes back to a lower court it does appear that these financial records will be made available to a grand jury that doesnt mean its going to go to the public so the president in terms of the timeline this could work in his favor he obviously doesnt want to see this before an election hes already got a difficult path to go in terms of the polls his slumping in terms of support he is losing to joe biden right now with some cases in the double digits hes having a hard time managing the economy as a result of coronavirus so this is not good news for the president at least in the one ruling but again the timeline may work in his favor and the argument from this white house has been from the beginning. This is politically motivated expect that continued to be the case that they will make that argument now that this goes into the hands of a lower court to reexamine given the ruling that has come from the Supreme Court today. A little bit more about how donald trump is likely to frame this Going Forward weve seen already he tweeted before these rulings came out calling this president ial harassment i mean is that the narrative that were likely to hear in the run up to the election. Its the narrative that most conservatives have that they feel that this is sort of an unprecedented presidency for so many reasons but the one that they feel the strongest about is that they feel that the democrats have done too large for this Resistance Movement have never accepted the results of the democratic election in other words you know donald trump is always argue that he has gone off he is the anti establishment candidate you can make arguments whether or not that in fact is true but thats the argument that has been framed and so there has been pushback from day one so expect that that will is sensually be that the case again the argument that will be made now in terms of how this ruling moves forward i mean you have discussed the precedent the fact that there is in fact a precedent but not a legal requirement for the u. S. President to put forward this information and that will be another argument that will once again be may look weve had it going back to Richard Nixon he was one of the 1st to say look i want to put this forward i want you to know im not a crook im not a crook so there was this level of transparency but its not written into the u. S. Constitution now donald trump did promise in 2016 that he was going to give this information once he took office if he wanted office obviously he didnt keep that promise but it doesnt seem to have hurt him with those that already supported him the people that seem angry about that are the ones that already didnt like him so in terms of how this moves the bar Trump Supporters have already said look at you called russian collusion it wasnt any found according to the Robert Mueller the special prosecutor youve made all kinds of allegations but where this does get sticky for the president is in examining this there will be this question about some of those payments he made particularly to the adult film star Stormy Daniels daniels rather you know could this get into a summer. Campaign finance concerns thats what the president s going to have some difficulty with so in terms of how he frames this argument hes going to try and push this is far from the election is possible whether or not hell be successful whether or not hell be able to prevent leaks from the grand jury weve seen throughout his presidency and on precedent that number of leaks from all levels all offices its hard to see how the grand jury would be an exception thanks for that explaining it all kimberly how could there are white house correspondent. And other news 2 of the top universities in the United States is suing the Trump Administration over its efforts to force out foreign students Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of technology asking the courts for an emergency restraining order on monday the government said foreign students would no longer be able to stay in the u. S. If their courses had moved online because of the pandemic meanwhile trump is pushing schools to reopen threatening to cut funding for any who refuse president also attacked the centers for Disease Control and prevention of resists to reopen guidelines including testing and social distancing if the eye agents are investigating a chinese billionaire with links to form a trump a steve benen investigators want to know where to go when griese Media Company got its funding hes produced videos and social media posts of edging corruption in chinas elite grower lives in selfimposed exile in the United States hired steve benen as a consultant 2 years ago. Donald trump planning large reelection rallies despite supporters testing positive for cultured 19 as his last event in contrast democratic challenger joe biden has kept his Campaign Mostly on line bidens head in the polls but some observers a warning hell need to do more to win the president ial election in november from washington helen fisher reports. Its been months since joe biden held a rally surrounded by supporters or given a major speech at a packed event its now almost all done online like this gathering with educators is a member thing to do with him but changing how to campaign during colbert as part all recent polls have the Presumptive Democratic candidate ahead one from one that university gives him a 12 point lead over the president
