Oppressed by the system i can ask i can ask his generalized question not to line up 10 men here every nationality and ask him do you get nervous when you when a cop car gets behind you you even get nervous when a cop car gets wind oh yeah and you got all the right credentials i got all the right one interest right because your safety in your life is in the hands of someone that could paint their own picture of you despite your successes and it should be that way. Protesters think that officials are not listening to them and i want them to know that i am listening to them we have filed discrimination charges against the Minnesota Police department what that does is it triggers an investigation that investigation looked half back 10 years into whether there has been systemic racism specifically against africanamericans in the minneapolis state Police Department and meanwhile hes seeking to make a voluntary agreement with the Minneapolis State Police to change their policies so it can be a more racially Fair Department all right john hendren live for us in minneapolis john thank you for that lets cross over now to washington d. C. Facing incredible repression being gassed being shot at with pellets and things like this we had a whole scene in here in washington d. C. Last night of people being trapped on the street being gassed unfortunately some people taking them into their homes as always been an all out systemic assault i would say on a protest here in d. C. And so again moving forward he spent 2 weeks that can coalesce around a kind of organized thrust or just as i think obama can always seem to force as a different street outrage of Police Brutality and actual connecting of the dots between the Police Brutality and the economy and the Democratic Party when you see were joined by can t. Shirts around by can use the alter so much legislation that empowers the police in the in the 1st place and hes contrite now but he was boasting about it not so long that guy i mean do you feel that people are connecting the dots or is about all trump is about. It started as a peaceful protest but things have turned taking a turn for the worst weve seen some looting theyve got a gentleman in custody over there the police are just showing up here in force right now. As another night of chaos here in new york city. They were. There and barely there. Were looting chase bank. Down the street here. Again the curfew is in effect right now. And we saw a group of about 20. 00 to 30. 00 break off. And there was the start of the booster who we were. And then the Police Responded this is what weve seen all night groups of looters that are breaking off from the peaceful protests and then start some sort of looting and then within usually 5 minutes you see a Huge Police Presence descend on the scene and thats exactly what were seeing right here right now while in the last few hours a curfew has come into effect in los angeles hes ahead of the go had a mode of protest as well still out on the streets in fewer numbers and earlier in the day more than 2700 of them have been arrested in the city since the protests began nearly all of them for curfew violations or refusing to dismiss so lets go to the west coast now to talk to rob reynolds there in Los Angeles Bob said things seem to calm down there but now tell us whats been happening on the streets around. Well there have been huge protests peaceful protests marching people chanting of course that black lives matter justice for darryl floyd and for. The george florida excuse me and for others who have lost their lives during encounters with the police but now it seems to be very very quiet you can see police are behind me but i think thats a good thing that people are actually and hearing through the curfew again in a very peaceful manner its interesting i know you were talking at length to about the trip that President Trump took to that Historic Church in. That square yesterday for the purposes of a photo op and to hold up a bible well an interesting response to that from a group of faith leaders here in los angeles who on wednesday a leaders from a variety of religious traditions are going to gather at a church in santa monica to hold their own protest meeting and to gather to to to discuss the situation in a rabbi neil daniels organize the event said quote the president s attempt to hijack the spiritual richness of america cannot go on the answer and he also said that that they hope by this gathering of faith leaders to show what a real response to a response that is to Racial Injustice looks like now im joined by. Coleman who is here and has been protesting today and cuomo we dont want to keep you too late because we know its curfew time so we deeply appreciate you taking the time to talk to us now i understand youre actually in town visiting friends and you felt that it was very important even though youre sort of on vacation to come out and take part to. I mean why yes or i just did it bill is right staying inside as a black man while this is going on you know ive been told since i was a child you know years like the police you know you always you know so respect to others but at the same time what were saying is you know we can lead to nothing and were still going to be killed for it so i just thought i need to come out here and im a voice heard and be a part of the movement what would be that sign that would convince yourself and the thousands and tens hundreds of thousands perhaps of people who are demonstrating around the country that their point has been taken and that something is going to change what would that what would that look like to you its going to take a real change were going to have to change the way that they operate their day to day operations theyve got to go through and talk to the office starry currently employed and retrain because obviously somethings wrong in the way that the way theyre being put out because it happens way too frequently to come and does it go beyond just you know Police Tactics and training is there a much broader change that. What can say happens if there are significant groups of people who are disregarding the curfew or if there are people who are you know breaking the law by trying to take things from stores or Something Police will race to that location and then strategically place themselves in the streets and alleys surrounding that area and then sort of move in and as people scatter and run they are then intercepted in the streets and alleys so. Again i dont know exactly what youre seeing there but that is certainly not a typical we just heard of a bunch of police cars go by not long ago so maybe they were heading in that direction but its kind of a cat and mouse type of situation if the if some trouble starts somewhere or if there is a large group the police are going to to just enforce the curfew and they are not going to allow those people to congregate if there are people breaking into stores and things of that nature likewise the police are going to take action so well certainly try to find out more about what youre seeing there hopefully this inst incident that youre seeing is not going to end with any anyone getting hurt all right robin is there live for us in Hollywood Rob thank you for that. These primaries will not have that same kind of effect on the one hand hed be only candidate who is running it people are still voting for him even though Barry Sanders dropped out of the race in part because theyre trying to push. Biden moderate tendencies in a more progressive direction but biden is virtually uncontested at this point however biden has also being hanging back and has been critical recently until his speech. Condemning the Police Violence against black american intel then he had really been letting trant take the center stage with the belief that from the trunks mismanagement of the crank this one bit of that him and it has as weve seen in these recent reports where he is leading in National Polls by much of 10 percent but he will have to do a lot more to really energize a lot of the democrats going into november and if trump is losing support who are the people turning away from him with these protests and the covert 1000 pandemic and the and how can the Democrats Use these crises to galvanize support by. You know i think were seeing different people from trump on the one hand with his mismanagement of the coded endemic we saw a lot of people who had supported him. Earlier on not because they supported his kind of get tough measures or his anger but because they thought that he would benefit the economy and a lot of those people are the people who were peeling off from him during cokehead i think what were seeing now what in response to trumps mismanagement of the larger protests around the country and use yesterday of course against nonviolent protesters the way hes deploying the military in washington d. C. In other places i think were seeing a different reaction a lot of it its from what we might imagine his base to. Kind of White Working Class voters people who themselves have had their own run ins with the police or people who are fearful of kind of large expansions of state power and these are some of the people that weve seen and a lot of gays who have not supported him and thats an interesting point you make because i want to ask you in is about whats your impression about what happened in front of the white house not before last with trump walking over to cent johns church off the gas saying peaceful protest has i mean hes faced huge criticism for using religion as a Political Tool is this likely then is this what youre saying this is likely to be a turning point do you think i think it might be and i think what happened yesterday its actually. Not just you standing in front of the church with the bible as hes talking about dominating. But there is a split screen where people were seeing your speech at the same time that they are watching unarmed peaceful protestors being gassed being shot at by the police in d. C. I think that is really going to lunch and i think that was a large wake up call for people we know that trumped up and had authoritarian tendencies and that shit like tendencies and i think what people saw our Television Last night what was fearful to a lot of people who might have been on the fence for him before elizabeth just a final quick thought from you we sometimes forget dont we that it was only a few months ago that trump was impeached but he seems unwilling or perhaps even unable to unite the country with his leadership it just seems to incite more violence more anger how it has lied to them to play out politically for him in the run up to 2020.
