True all of the country a new york smack criticizes the trumpet ministration of the u. S. Record the highest number of coronavirus related deaths in the world. And in other news more taliban prisoners are released by afghanistans government raising new hopes for a delayed exchange deal. And im peter sims with the sport british motor racing legend Stirling Moss has died at the age of 19 that and more coming up later in the program. We start with coverage of the british governments daily updates on the coronavirus situation and this is Health Secretary matt hancock speaking checkers i hope everyone has seen his message of love and thanks to all those who supported his recovery and to the n. H. S. Colleagues whove had for him so brilliantly thomas hospital. I know that they have cared for him as they would kaffir anybody in this country and its one of the things that makes me so proud that the n. H. S. Is there for all and can give its very best to every Single Person and has been able to throughout this crisis i know that all of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness. And of course the government is working constantly through our coronavirus action plan and the aim is to protect life and to protect the n. H. S. Both by slowing the spread of the virus to flatten the curve and by ensuring that the n. H. S. Is always there for you and always has more than enough capacity to meet the demands that are placed on it today marks a somber day in the impact of this disease as we join the list of countries who have seen more than 10000 deaths related to coronavirus the fact that over 10000 people have now lost their lives to this invisible killer demonstrates just how serious coronavirus is and why the National Effort that everyone is in gauged in is so important according to the most recent figures 282003 174 people have now been tested for corona virus 84279 have tested positive across Great Britain the number of people admitted to hospital with coronavirus symptoms is now 19945 and of those whove contracted the virus 10612 have tragically died our sincere condolences are with all of them. With their families their friends their grief is our grief and their stories will not be forgotten on friday i said that staying at home this easter weekend would be a major test of the nations result and im pleased to say that the nation is rising to this challenge i know that for some people this has been extra tough if youre at home with their children if you cant visit relatives because theyre shielding if youre unable to go to church on this most important day for christians your steadfast commitment to following these social distancing rules is making a difference thank you for the part that you are playing in helping to protect lives at this critical time in our nations history but we cant be complacent not when theres so much at stake so please keep going stay home protect the n. H. S. And save lives today i want to provide an update on the work were doing to slow the spread of the virus and to build capacity the latest figures show that in Great Britain we have 2295 spare Critical Care beds up 150 from yesterday so throughout this crisis with all the challenges that weve been dealing with all the operational difficulties and all of the logistics we have always been able to provide the very best of can to everybody who needs it through the n. H. S. At the start of this crisis people said that the n. H. S. Would be overwhelmed and weve seen that and weve seen the risk of that elsewhere but not here and that is because of the action that a huge number of people have taken the incredible work of so many. There is more spec pasty now for Critical Care than the was when corona virus 1st hit our shores and this is before the nightingale hospitals come on stream londons opened and were already in the process of building 6 more around england this critical expansion is partly because we have a Record Number of ventilators 9775 and partly because we have Record Numbers of return is coming back and rejoining the n. H. S. Over 5000 former staff are now back on the n. H. S. Frontline and over 36000 have come forward to enlist and this bolstered capacity has been backed by substantial Financial Support as the chancellor said whatever our n. H. S. And Vital Public Services need during this time they will have but of course theres always more d that must be done so were increasing the amount of p p e and im glad to say that there are now record amounts in the system and we need the right amounts of medicine to and i can assure everyone that were working very closely with the pharmaceutical supply chain and hospital pharmacies so that the right meds and are there to treat people and im glad to see the reassurances that have been provided today that everybody can have the medicines they need in order to get the care that they need. And when we debate the operational challenges we face i want to be transparent about every single one let us not forget that the core measure of energy as capacity which is what matters to you when one when you or one of your loved ones needs it is whether you can get the best catch if you catch coronavirus on that we are succeeding and in fact succeeding more with each passing day i also wanted to provide a brief update on this work on personal protective equipment which is so important for n. H. S. And social care staff i pay tribute to our health and care staff this weekend just like every weekend a giving the very best possible cat of thursday on streets front doors and balconies up and down the country weve seen the esteem with which the whole nation holds our cameras the people who make the n. H. S. And social care what it is and we owe it to them to get them the equipment that they need on friday we published a comprehensive peace plan which is based on everyone using the right people according to the agreed guidelines and daly were delivering millions of items to the front line now i know that the Big Questions also about gallons in the last 2 days 121000 pounds have been delivered around the country and more are going out today and in the week to come so we are working very hard to resolve all of these individual the just tickled challenges its worth saying that the average time for dealing with p. P. Queries has gone down from 6 days in march to an average of 2 and a half days over the past week and since we published the plan last week im delighted that the sheer number of businesses that have come forward to help with our p. P. Effort even over the Bank Holiday Weekend thank you to all of you and to all those who are involved in this enormous herculean effort on p. P. And i know that well see many more businesses coming forward and i look forward to it. Testing of course has a huge role in our response and we have discussed repeatedly testing at these press conferences im pleased to say that 42812 n. H. S. And social care staff and their families have now been tested and as we ramp up our ability to test in large numbers we also need to make sure we have the ability to trace contract contacts just as effectively and so today i wanted to outline the next step a new n. H. S. Out for Contact Tracing if you become unwell with the symptoms of corona virus you can securely tell this new n. H. S. App and the app will then send an alert anonymously to other app uses that youve been in significant contact with over the past few days even before you have symptoms so that they know and can act accordingly all data will be handled according to the highest ethical and Security Standards and would only be used for n. H. S. Care and research and we wont hold it any longer than is needed and as part of our commitment to transparency well be publishing the source code to were already testing this app and as we do this were working closely with the worlds leading Tech Companies and Renowned Experts in clinical safety and digital ethics so that we can get this right i want to thank all of these world leading experts whove been involved the more people who get involved then the better informed our response to corona virus will be and the better we can protect the n. H. S. Her majesty the queen spoke for all of us as she so often does when she said that easter is not cancelled and that we need it now more than ever this is an uncertain easter for so many people at a time when we normally come physically together we must stay apart. It runs counter to every human instincts and every intuition that we possess but we must persevere because if we follow the rules and slow the spread of the virus then each new day will bring us closer to normal life and we can enjoy he says to come safe in the knowledge that when it mattered we did our bit and rose to the challenge and we put our loved ones we put our n. H. S. Staff and we put our local communities 1st so please this easter stay home protect the n. H. S. And save lives im now going to hand over to yvonne to take us through the charts on the information thank you secretary of state we have 4 charts to show today and the 1st one is on the use of transport and on this slide you can see that all forms of transport have reduced greatly particularly. Rail and tube but also as a motivator because have declined recently as well thank you could i have the next night. At this side tell us about the new u. K. Cases and we can see here on the 12th of april that we have had 4 and a half 1000 cases done through our n. H. S. And Public Health in the end offer of testing and now coming on stream increasingly is the drive through through testing of key workers and the n. H. S. Stuff and that is bringing us in 830. 8 yesterday and to today at 838. 00 so an increasing enhancement of the testing capacity. And then on the next slide we can see the people they started about people in hospital beds with covert 19 and here we can see the trend has been increasing and from london but now were beginning to see london stabilizing dipping rising dipping again so probably a state more stable pattern for london but on the other hand and for at Great Britain we do see other regions now beginning to increase particularly the northwest and the yorkshire area as well and the north east so it is very important that the message about staying at home and social distancing is a tear too because we are certainly not past this virus damage yet and then finally on the fine of slide we have the globe of death comparisons and here we can see where the u. K. Is its somewhere in the middle its tracking france its looking at close to the italian trend at the moment but this is still early days we would stress in understanding deaths and we can see where other countries have higher increases in their deaths at the moment so those are 4 sides thank you very much i thank you very much indeed yvonne and if we go to the b. B. C. We got david sugarman. Health record thank you very much. Yes if i may ask about on this day that very positive very somber milestone as you put it of the 10000 that what is your reaction to the comments of one of your own advise of a very Renowned International expert on Infectious Diseases that newark a navy on course of the worst outcome in terms of death toll in europe. Well i think that that that sort of comment merely reinforces the importance of the central message which is that people should stay at home because that protects the n. H. S. And saves lives we get advice from all sorts of experts and we take it all very seriously and we assess it throughout now or the future of this virus is unknowable as yet because it depends on the behavior of millions of people and the Great British public the good news is that so far we have managed to start to see a flattening of the curve because people are following the social distancing measures by and large and also that the core goal of making sure that n. H. S. Capacity is always above the demand for an actress services has been achieved and so i think especially at moments like this when we have reached this this this terrible marca we are thankfully in a position where we are able to support everybody who needs it in the n. H. S. And were able to see the curve starting to come down yvonne i dont know on the International Comparisons of course Different Countries are different size so you need to be measuring at the statistics right in there absolutely and could i say every one of these 10000 more deaths is enough salut tragedy from a virus we didnt know about some time ago but when you get down to the statistics it does depend on how people measure this there are time lags in the deaths and it isnt fair i would stress it particularly it is early days because passions that we saw or perhaps in countries earlier in this may change and were beginning to see that internationally. Thanks very much david unless you want to follow up if i could ask you about the briefing given yesterday with your colleague the home secretary i asked whether it was possible for her on behalf of the government to give a commitment to a date by when deliveries of people he would match whats needed on the front line because every day we get messages from Health Care Workers and others saying they simply dont have whats needed yeah well the the answer is that its impossible because the quest is to get a bright p. P. To the right people on the front line at the right time across many millions of people across the n. H. S. And social care and im glad to say that that effort is moving in the right direction we now have records amounts of p p thats put been put out into the system but until everybody gets the pv that they need then we wont rest and we have we have thousands of people working 247 on this including over this Bank Holiday Weekend because the need and the demand for p p a doesnt stop either so its an enormous effort and i want to actually go out of my way to thank the procurement experts that weve got in the system they dont often get thanks the procurement experts because theyre not on the front line but by god do we need them to make sure that we can get all that p. P. And as i mentioned with gallons which is the. Currently the item thats most in need that weve been making some progress over the over the weekend with more to come next week thanks david out ive got Martha Farley from i. T. V. Thank you Health Secretary a question to you if i may the Royal College of nursing has issued new guidance to its members telling them that if they havent been given the appropriate p. P. And that there is no other way of treating a patient without reducing risk then they should refuse to work rather than compromising their own safety will you apologize to the nurses and indeed the other medical and Health Care Workers who are being put in that impossible position of having to make a decision between whether to offer treatment to a patient or to protect their own personal safety well martha as i said in the previous answer were working night and day to make sure that we get the right people the and actually the thing i want to do is pay tribute to the on believable efforts of a huge number of people to get to the position where we are in now which as i said in my opening remarks is improving but we wont rest until we get there so i. Work closely with the Royal College of nursing on these matters on other things in fact i was in contact with them only earlier today because its so important that we get this right. Martin from sky. Good afternoon question 1st to the secretary of state of the on doyle if i may. Secure state you paint a relative. Of where we are within a moment but there is a very different picture being painted within our care and Nursing Homes i spent a full day in a nursing home the other day in which a full floor had been devoted to elderly patients suffering from coronavirus and i witnessed a flimsy p. P. Over stretched out a lot of illness and unfortunately some deaths of some of the residents and whats been coming back from what i witnessed from the care sector is that they are crying out for tests home owners have been telling me that theyre not getting regular tests for staff and residents but crucially for those being transferred from hospitals to the care sector and they are operating in the dark no tell you what my inbox is anything to go by today the care sector is watching us right now and is desperate for you to tell them that they will get regular tests so they can end this lottery and you give that guarantee to them yes i can nip that is coming and last week we were able to open up testing to the to stuff in care homes throughout this theres been the availability of testing on a clinical basis within care homes as you mentioned and this is an area of incredibly high importance because precisely as youve seen some of the most Vulnerable People live in care homes and especially in Nursing Homes and therefore getting this right is in is is just is so important so i think one of the things that weve succeeded in doing as a as a country during this crisis is recognize. Zing that our cast stuff are on the front line just as much as our n. H. S. Staff are and making sure that we expand that testing capability both to stuff and to residents including this very difficult issue of patients leaving hospital we can we are addressing that and i think that the issues that you raise are incredibly important thank you and John Stephens from the mail and i just on the back yes of course john if you dont mind well go back to nick. Go ahead carol brave telling me that really this now yes or tomorrow whats the time scale that you can arrange regular widespread tests to get into care homes how long will they have to wait for these tests yes so on for the stuff as i said we have made that change already at the end of last week and i announced it on friday and therefore weve weve were rolling that out right now and for the residents that change that the testing has been available throughout but we also we always constantly keep under review the protocols for the transfer of people between hospitals and social care which is a very nuanced and complicated area where the most important thing is that the interests of the patient are put 1st if you want to have anything on that and i think youve had to question it now right are you satisfied that care homes have enough support. Well im constantly trying to get more support to them is the honest truth and of course making sure for instance that the testing is available i was very glad that we were able to roll that out to testing staff and youll have seen the shop increase in the number of tests. Available happy to add to the think i think you might have had a question but let me say this is very much on our radar is where were very aware through our local Health Protection teams and our connections with our local directors of Public Health and through the local resilience for about the care homes we profile them now in a way that perhaps was never done before and this is very valuable for us Going Forward as a country that we have a truly integrated approach to care and yes testing does occur in the Nursing Homes but we have more to do nursing and care homes we understand there is much more to do here to get to every last quarter where there is an xyzzy where the most vulnerable are and our guidance has a guidance has taken account of this to simplify what people actually need at the front line in that sector. And in the morning no thank you very much ok John Stephens of the mail. Thank you have thank you have updated figures on a number of n. H. S. Work is you dying to have to get corona back on what youre doing to the reasons why yes this is a really important question and i dont have an update on the figure of 19 and it just staff who died that i gave yesterday but what i can tell you is that we are looking into each circumstance to understand the as much as is possible how they caught the virus whether that was at work outside of work and the clinical setting that theyve been that they were working in and making sure that we learn as much as we possibly can and therefore of course protect our Health Workers as much as possible. Thank you secretary of state this is of great importance scientifically as well that we understand why infections occur in hospitals across Health Care Staff and apart the avoidable factors in dust might be and that is something that is under investigation at the moment i mean i would say john that you know the people who go into the n. H. S. As the Prime Minister so movingly said in his words and the video that he recorded this morning that i hope you see the you know the admiration for those who put themselves in harms way is incredibly high. You know they they theyre unbelievable and therefore its of course incumbent on us to make sure that we get to the bottom of each an individual case and learn everything we can so that we can better protect people in the future and so that we can. Give a full account to the family and loved ones of each member of the n. H. S. Family whos died. Yes of course out i saw some the Prime Minister if you know hes been given advice on how long he should dress for in the turns to what. He he is resting hes at checkers delighted that hes out of hospital and has recovered and but there isnt any advice on how long thatll be a clinical decision for his doctors to take with him the government is operating perfectly efficiently within the strategy that he set out. Nicolo bartlet from the merrier. And thank you state youve talked about a reduction in the time that its taken to get. To those places that need it down to 2 and a half days i wanted to ask you if that is an acceptable time during which the n. H. S. Staff that youve just praised will be putting themselves in harms way while treating patients and thanks for the question that is that just to be fear the 2 and a half days is the time taken to fulfil a queery so we have a 247 hotline for all of the 58000 locations that we now need to get people to and that they can call when theyve got a need under 2 and a half days is not necessarily or particularly a time that. To wait for p. P. Without any because many of the times of people call that hotline they call saying weve got to. Run out by the end of the week for instance the more urgent cases where they are where the shortage is more acute we act on immediately so the 2 and a half days is an average and so it shouldnt be interpreted that people are waiting for 2 and a half days thats not the measure the reason the measure is important is because its a its the way of tracking how quickly were able to go from somebody raising an alarm on that on that phone number which is there so that they so that anybody in the system in an organization that receives protective crim from others can then get the protective equipment and its a measure of how fast the system can respond and the challenge of getting protective equipment to every Single Person is very complicated and so you have to have measures of how were progressing against that because my ultimate goal major everybody has it at every moment that they need is is one that i wont we are driving hard hat but weve got to be able to measure the progress on the way. Well as the number of coded 19 related deaths in the u. K. Processed 1010000 that was Health Secretary matt hancock along with the docs if on the wall of Public Health england giving the the u. K. s daily Coronavirus Press briefing the Health Secretary said that social distancing rules are making a difference that there were record amounts of protective equipment in the system also announced the launch of a new app that the n. H. S. Has developed along with Tech Companies that will allow people who contract the virus to notify anonymously those who may have been in contact with the misca live out of london aljazeera the most he joins us with more analysis the Health Service mariam the Health Secretary said has not been overwhelmed. Yes he was really trying in trying to compare the u. K. With other countries in the world in saying that the efforts that have been made to increase the capacity of an intensive care units to get more critical chavez in those makeshift hospitals the 900 hospital at the xcel center of the makeshift hospitals have been built in birmingham in manchester showed that even though the death toll was climbing that the u. K. Had the capacity to deal with it but really it is a very grim milestone that has been possible has been really met with shock and sadness even though we were expecting that it would happen and was pressed on these concerns that the u. K. Is on the same parcel perhaps even worse as italy and it could be these concerns have been raised in the past few days about the u. K. Being the worst affected country in europe and magnificently said that reinforced the importance of social distancing right now and there are signs perhaps some positive signs in all this news that social distancing is going some way to driving down the rate of infection but sadly that death toll number will continue to rise because then the people who are in tents of can now who are very sick from the virus probably about 3 or 4 weeks ago before the lockdown came into place and so now they might not those people might not be able to survive intensive care. Well mary mary thanks date 0 as mariyam the must be reporting live from home in london as weve been hearing this a growing concern about the lack of equipment for Health Workers in the u. K. The wool college of surgeons says that they need to further of its members report shortages of possible protective equipment all p. P. One in 3 surgeons say they lack the equipment they need especially in scotland and northwest england overall harf of surgeons doubt that they have access to covert 19 tests if they needed one more than 70 percent say the government will be unable to end the lockdown until widespread testing is available the Royal College of nurses as lost its members to stop treating patients as a last resort if theyre not adequately equipped 19 Health Care Workers have died after contracting the virus while treating patients that speak to emma coom is a national Health Service doctor working on the front lines she joins us now live via skype from london good to have you with us dr groom the Health Secretary the was saying that the service the Health Service has record amounts of protective equipment what do you make of that. Well with respect nor interested in hearing how many millions of mosques how many have gone out to the n. H. S. I just want to stop hearing from my colleagues that they dont have enough i think its been really damaging to n. H. S. Morale this week to hate ministers trying to shift the blame for the lack of supplies of p. P. A. To the n. H. S. And was still suggest that the plane may lie with n. H. S. Staff misusing the p. P. And i think what they said in the briefing certainly will be no condolence to the families of the n. H. S. Staff members who have lost their lives after becoming on well with cope with 19 earlier in the week the Health Secretary and simulated the. Health Service Staff may have been overusing items and people what do you make of that i think thats really difficult nobody in the n. H. S. You know who wants to come to work to use more protection than they need we just need to keep ourselves safe for us we do our job and its the job of government to make sure that we have the equipment we need to do our job safely and im sorry if ministers feel that they have supplied adequate p. P. N. H. S. Staff but thats simply not the case of what we are experiencing on the ground and dont want to be seen as heroes were not maltas we dont want to die in the line of duty we just want to be protected so that we can do our joke that service has not been overwhelmed the Health Secretary said it has 9775. 00 ventilators and the good news is that 5000 former n. H. S. Staff of back at work are not supposed to this news. Yes it is a positive that has been and it go get it to an end but in the n. H. S. To rearrange the way we work to rearrange our hospital holds to redeploy start off and train them differently and everybody in the n. H. S. Has been so flexible to enable that to happen and and to be fed to government buys you know one area where we have had the backing that we need to reorganize the system so that is is positive news so many thanks indeed im a really good to talk to talk to him a combat in london thank you live now to. The governor of new york state out of his giving his Daily Briefing on the coronavirus pandemic thats. A very relevant because people come into the hospital they get treated hopefully they get this charged if they dont get this charge they stay in the hospital they decline they become into baited if they become into bated the longer youre on a ventilator the less likely you will be to get off that ventilator so thats the trajectory we see right and the into bay sions most people who are into baited will not come off the ventilator so thats a troubling number the into beijing number which is real but the 3 day into beijing rate again is it down down relative to where we were so all the numbers are basically saying the same thing number of this charges goes up because we had that high hospitalization rate people stay for a week 2 weeks they get this charge thats why the this charges are a function of the hospitalization rate 3 day average of the discharges you see again basically flat so its all reinforcing the same thing a flattening of all these numbers. Youre not seeing a great decline in the numbers but youre seeing a flattening. And youre also seeing a recurrence of the terrible news which is the number of lives lost which is 758. Somebody asked a question once can you ever get numb to these seeing these numbers unfortunately no. 758 people lost their lives in a 24 hour period. I speak to many families who are going through this many people who lost loved ones everyone is a face and a name in a family that is suffering on this weekend which for many people in this state and in this nation is a high religious holiday which is already distorted because we have churches closed we have temples closed so this is truly tragic news and i want every family to know that there are enough thoughts and prayers and were sorry that they had to go through this and i want them to know that. New yorkers did everything humanly possible to be there for their loved ones and try to save those lives and were proud of that you see also a flattening in the number of lives lost at a terribly high rate but if you look back over the past several days you see this is certain continuity to that number again thats the one number. That i look forward to seeing drop. Soon as i open my eyes in the morning and it is been flattening but flattening at a terribly high level again to put it in context 9385 lives lost when you read those from yesterday but in the context of 911. Which was supposed to be the tragedy of my lifetime 2753 lives lost were now at 9385 big question for everyone is one that we reopen people want to get on with their lives people want to get out of the house cabin fever. We need the economy working people need a paycheck. Life has to function when do we reopen when the we reopen look the answer is we want to reopen as soon as possible. Everyone does on a societal level everyone does on a personal level lets just end this nightmare right groundhog day you get up every day its the same routine you almost lose track of what they have the week it is because they dont even have meaning anymore and theres also some things i didnt stress that were all dealing with so we want to reopen as soon as possible carry out is we need to be smart in the way we reopen what a smart mean means a coordinated approach a regional approach and a safe approach nobody wants to pick between a Public Health strategy and then Economic Strategy. And as governor of the state im not going to pick one over the other we need a Public Health strategy that is safe that is consistent with an Economic Strategy how do you reopen but how do you do it in a way that is smart from a Public Health point of view the last thing we want to see is an uptick in that infection rate and uptick in those numbers that we work so hard to bring down so we need a strategy that coordinates business and schools and transportation and workforce what new york paused it is it stopped everything at the same time. It was a blunt device but it shut down everything at the same time were going to need testing. More testing faster testing then we now have when you start to move people back to work and were going to need federal help there is no doubt about that i did a joint statement with Governor Hogan who is the chairman of the National Governors association he is a republican i am the vice chair im a democrat for those of you who dont know and we did a joint statement that said look the federal government did a stimulus bill and. Bill that was supposed to help move the economy along called the federal cares act the federal cares act just. Almost ignored State Governments when you ignore a State Government you would nor our situation we have a 10. 00 to 15000000000. 00 deficit we got a budget done but our budget was basically contingent on what happens Going Forward. And without federal assistance how does the state economy come back how do we really start to fund schools etc and thats going to happen that has to happen from a federal level. There is no level above a State Government that can make a difference besides the federal government and we did a statement on a bipartisan basis that said the federal government has to fix this in the next bill and we called the 500000000000. 00 for funding for State Governments and again we did that on a bipartisan basis from new yorks point of view the past bills were like most federal passed bill its they were went through the political process and to get a bill passed in washington everyone has to get their piece of the pai the pass the bill i understand politics and stand it very well thats not how they should be operating here and you did an injustice to the places that actually had the need which from an american taxpayer point of view thats what you were trying to correct you were trying to correct the devastation of the virus with and corrected the position of the virus not everything has to be an opportunity for pork barrel right. You look at where the money actually went theoretically the bill distributed funding to states. For corrective action and expenses on handling the virus. Kaiser health which is a very. Notable organization said that nebraska and montana for example minnesota are getting approximately 300000. 00 per covered 900. 00 cases new york state gets a project well thats how youll discover andrew cuomo that given his daily Coronavirus Press briefing. There were 758. 00 new coded 19 links deaths in new york state in the last 24 hours bringing the death total the death toll in total to 9385. 00 in new york alone lets get some analysis now from our series mike hanna whos in washington d. C. Mike the governor said we want to open up again as soon as possible but we need to be smart. Indeed governors talking about there is no balance between economic improvement and General Health basically hes arguing that youve got to the south as you go along that health and wealth of the state citizens and indeed the country is the absolute priority in terms of any decision that has made the governor also speaking about very clearly that we are now in a plateau in new york state the idea initially dealing with this pandemic had been to watch for the apex but Governor Cuomo pointing out that statistics do not show an apex they rather show. A flattening of the various indicators to show whether or not the pandemic is being beaten back and what the figures show in new york state is a level of into patients a level of distrust from hospital a level of admissions to hospital and very sadly leveling of that daily death rate which is between 7. 80 every single day but it is as the governor points out on a plateau d it is not a peak going up and down it is reaching a level and then leveling out as it goes along but all of these statistics being looked at all of these models being changed as york state and other states in the u. S. Continue to try and predict what is going to be happening next. Stay with us for a moment i want to get your thoughts on this treated video message that u. S. President donald trump put out during which he americans to stay at home to defeat what he described as a plague is what he said. This easter will be much different than others because in many cases will be separated physically only from our churches we wont be sitting there next to each other which wed like to be and soon will be again but right now were keeping separation were getting rid of the plague its a plague on our country like nobodys ever seen mike said a change in tone from the president. Well lets put that into context 2 weeks ago the president was predicting the hope that everybody would be in the churches on this Easter Sunday this april the 12th he backtracked from that a few days later extending the length of closure for the United States generally the guidelines from the federal government weve also heard in the course of the day from the f. D. A. The food and Drug Administration commissioner who was asked whether the white house was contemplating may the 1st as a lifting of closure date he didnt answer that directly but he did say and this is a very important point from the f. D. A. Commissioner that the priority is the health and welfare of the country citizens now this is a different message to a degree from that which the white house is being giving out and the president himself in terms of which health and welfare needs to be balanced against the economy the president speaking about your repeated pleas from Corporate Leaders to open up as soon as possible at the same time getting recommendations from Health Officials that opening it up premier truly could result in a spike in the number of deaths and number of cases so this we hearing from the f. D. A. Is no longer as far as the f. D. A. Commission is concerned the discussion the priority is health and wealth there but if i can just add to we heard from the mayor of the city of new york a very important point testing he says once again the federal government has not come through on its commitment to providing Testing Facilities to the city of new york now this is contrary to President Trump saying repeatedly that the u. S. Leads the world in testing that everybody who wants to test can get one where we hearing from the very center of the pandemic from the mayor of new york that the federal government has failed in terms of providing the essential Testing Facilities to the city. The government basically has brought in some regulations under a gasket which was. We understand that midnight yesterday taking effect and announced today using a very old regulation from the 1920 s. About the prevention of disease and quarantine and brought in these new rules which deals with the sort of premeditation of all those that die of the corona virus so thats whats caused sort of reaction from the Muslim Community leaders of the community have called on the government to allow them to bury their dead in accordance with their rights and beliefs they see that the w. H. O. That what had taken as asian allowance for all members of the Muslim Community to be buried in line with that cultures and traditions obviously under certain restrictions for example burials i believe are required to be done more than 8 feet underground and things like that but as were hearing i did speak to a member of medical community who did point out that the doubly with chill does issued guidelines that ultimately it is for the National Health authority to meet and fix essential to the rules that govern that particular country so thats where the debate is at the moment in india a group of men have attacked Police Officers who are trying to enforce a curfew rules to cut off their hair and of one officer according to point of state officials 5 policemen were taken to hospital india is currently under a 3 week lockdown in order to tackle the Virus Outbreak. Curfew in serbia started on friday at 5 oclock afternoon and it will remain until early monday morning the ban on movement doesnt apply to people who must go to work including also the farmers everyone who is outside should have special license approved by the government through the email as authorities explain the this measure was taken after the morning touring of behavior it was noted that people especially on the weekends didnt follow recommendation about necessary social distancing and people did not stay home the result was a total ban on going out on weekends as you can see around me most of the people are respecting the lock down and streets are empty as far as numbers are concerned the number of those arrested on daily basis has increased in recent days around 2000 people are tested the daily of which about 250 are positive and weve seen the similar numbers in the last few days hospital capacities are filling up more than half of patients are in hospitals temporary hospitals have been prepared for patients with mild symptoms even for those without symptoms but core on a positive the government is pursuing the idea on the recommendation of chinese experts that all infected should be placed in some kind of control quarantine and they say that is the way to avoid spreading the infection and what are some of normal coronavirus richard used to pass on to you the Afghan Taliban has released 20 Afghan Government prisoners and over happened in kandahar province the announcement coincides with the release of a group of 100. 00 taliban prisoners by afghanistan of the border is a National Security analyst and says that its not clear whether the talibans release of prisoners is related to an agreement signed earlier this year. The statement that has come from the taliban is that they are releasing 20 prisoners but it does not say why we have had about 200. 00 Prisoners Released from the government like the Afghan Government has released 200 taliban prisoners and they are about to release 100 more but the statement that has come from the government is that its based on Age Health Conditions and it does not refer to the u. S. Taliban agreement that was signed on taghreed 29th of this year so none of these sides are actually laughing to the agreement the government has allegedly vetoed revealing 5000 prisoners a day were supposed to release before most and so that the interim Afghan Dialogue could be initiated.
