Massachusetts so yeah those are the states that donald trump has won but again all eyes on the democratic side and as we get more numbers in we will let you know and Bernie Sanders and joe biden here we go this is just now coming in there in a day of heat in maine it is too close to call more than 60 percent of the precincts are reporting and they are tied at 33 percent each but of course maine is Bernie Sanders part of the country very close to his home state of vermont so well see if that perhaps helps him pull ahead in this race so that is the latest richelle thank you very much of course were waiting for texas and california of course huge prizes and you let us know as soon as you get those thank you very much for show our lets bring back our panel now from the United States introduce them once again to you Adolfo Franco a republican strategist was an advisor to john mccain is in washington d. C. To finds a button a former Senior Advisor to come in a harris for the people who is in the sand to miss and all. So in washington d. C. Jennifer victor professor of Political Science at the university of Georgia Mason thank you very much for being with us once again we spoke a lot earlier about joe biden and of course Bernie Sanders who are in the needs right now both of them joe biden had a very good night but i want to focus on the big losers now as donald trump has called on the president himself. And its a bit warren who didnt even win her home state of massachusetts not fond of but what do you think went wrong for. Senator warren has been on the uptick she was very much. A had a lot of momentum in the late fall and a number of things i feel may have gotten taken hold in her campaign one is around the time when she was asked about to make the details of her Health Care Policy i think and she pivoted towards what some progressive progressives didnt really see as a true medicare for all she came under some real scrutiny there and i think that really began to take hold there was also this. Sort of back and Forth Exchange between her and senator sanders is around you know if he believed that a woman could be president of the United States i think that may have had some impact but the momentum really sort of slowed down in her fund raising. As well and i think you know senator warner really has is the camp candidate has had a plan for everything and i think that in a number of ways you sort of lost her footing in that Health Care Conversation and had a tough time getting it back. Ok so jennifer will what are your thoughts on that is if warrens performance and you know some analysts have suggested that she didnt do well perhaps because she is a woman would you agree with that well i think there is some evidence to support the case that her candidacy has been hurt by some sexism that still exists in the politic and in the society in general there are some you know looking at all the candidates in the democratic field this year as the democrat as the democrats have have jostled between them they all have their faults right none of them have been perfect shining light and so war in a certainly among them but she in particular seems to struggle particularly with sort of finding her lane or finding her strategy or her key narrative that she wanted to put out to voters for a long time i think she jostled a lot with standards and was competing for the sanders voters but sanders voters turned out to be a little bit cliquish and they werent so much interested in going over to warren and some of her policies she was clearly trying to chip away at that left and but then on other policies she was clearly reaching out to more moderate voters and some of that back and forth i think was her trying to split the middle but it didnt always come across that way it came across more as this volatility in her camp and so do you see her endorsing. Well if we take her at her word i think she will see her through the convention i mean that could change you know candidates say what they will say when theyre in the heat of the moment and as weve seen especially over the last day or 2 in Democratic Politics in the United States these things can change very quickly so its possible that shell call it quits and endorse a candidate its hard to say who she would endorse i could see arguments either way i sort of suspect biden but i dont know that for sure i think actually think its more likely that she finds a way to to stick it out through the convention all right Adolfo Franco the other big loser tonight was of course Mike Bloomberg who didnt despite all his money half a 1000000000. 00 in advertising poured a lot of money into the primary contests he was appearing on the ballot for the 1st time but hasnt done very well what do you think thats down to i mean it was an issue about money or momentum what was the problem with him well i think get a lot of problems and i thought that even beforehand i was on one of your programs youre mentioning before youve been debated the 1st is this is a former republican in the democratic primary parachuting into the race after the 1st races and then sending a clear signal that he was going to frankly try to buy the election spending now i think upwards of 500000000. 00 and the strategy to come in late and hopefully hoping for a very fractured result early on and no clear front runner and then he would step in and others have tried that in the past not with the money but certainly with the strategy and have failed in both the republican and democratic columns so i think that those are his is the strategy was i think always flawed and risky from the beginning. And i dont insist america really for whatever their drama really. No i dont think it is a relief and i think he would have actually been and i say this was all sincerity that he would have been the easiest candidate to beat because i dont think they would have seen we would have seen the the enthusiasm on the democratic side that you would frankly with with the sanders or with the efforts of the Vice President is now trying to create the obama phenomena himself i just cant see that with respect to Mike Bloomberg i think had Mike Bloomberg won the nomination and in fact were competitive for president it would prove something quite sad in our society that somebody can come in and spend and frankly would have cost probably over a 1000000000. 00 to become president of states and actually buy it and i think the voters generally have rejected that i understand he won American Samoa so most but thats not much of a prize and tonight so i think it was that and of course we all know that the debate itself was a disaster both debates but certainly the 1st debate and i believe Elizabeth Warrens pressing him particularly on his relationships with women and so forth hurt him badly in his answers which were quite flippant so i dont know i thinks for some democrats it would have been very difficult to vote for a former republican billionaire who has come in without any track record in their party and say this is the nominee and this is the future i think the enthusiasm factor been very low right now lafond Mike Bloomberg seems to think that its still worth a saying in this race just listening to him early in florida what do you think is motivations are here for wanting to stay in the race. Well i think as has been said earlier in reference to i think senator warner candidates say what they need to say in the moment in which theyre asked i think. Mayor bloomberg is has invested an incredible amount of resources to become a player in the Democratic Party convention and after the results tonight you really have to question whether d the numbers in the data are really going to play out in his favor in terms of making that possible every i dont know the mayor personally but everyone that ive spoken to who do know him really are convinced that he is numbers driven data driven guy i was going to make decisions based on based on the data but look at this point after tonights performance and i know that we still dont have the results yet from either texas or california where things could look a little bit better for for mayor bloomberg but but i dont think that theres going to be enough energy or in terms of desire to keep the mayor in in the contest i think that hopefully it will be an opportunity where the mayor will be able to take a look at the data that is that he see in and make a determination about where he needs to be after after tonight but i dont think that theres going to be much motivation based on tonights results to continue to stay in the race hopefully as you said hes going to keep his resources the infrastructure that hes built across the country over 200 offices 3000 staff and he said that hes going to put that hes going to have the democrats. Who among between Bernie Sanders and joe biden is likely to get an endorsement from Mike Bloomberg. Yeah hes look i think mayor bloomberg has said that he will put it at the disposal of the nominee. I think there have been those from senator Sanders Campaign who have flatly rejected any support that mayor bloomberg would be offering and so depending on who will demand money is i think that that will bet will be the determination there right and i think its very important you point out it is still a long way to go until all the results are known tonight 2 of the biggest states texas and. California is still not in those results and of course the convention a long way to go as well lets now take a closer look at the issues and where the Democratic Candidates stand on these issues like immigration for instance which has been one of the most contentious issues under Donald Trumps presidency and democratic hopefuls have been promising to overturn many of his controversial decisions if elected take a listen on why we will go on legal stance of the 1800000 young people and their parents eligible for talk of. The fact is honorable and decent that allows a legitimate pathway to citizenship for undocumented people not enough just to go out and say as many candidates have i have a good immigration plan you also need a good plan for getting it in acted because i dont want to be president just to talk about good things i want to be a president to get it done so jennifer on this issue of immigration which of these candidates has the strongest plan if you will i mean who has a solid plan when it comes to immigration. Well. As has been the case through this entire season its fair to say that Elizabeth Warren has put out the most detailed sort of thoughtful plans about things and has tried to be the most explicit about her policy positions which is frankly a little bit unusual for some candidates its not that unusual in a primary process where within a single party you have candidates that are trying to distinguish themselves from one another and often when youre within a single parity its very narrow policy positions is a way that you can do that and it seems like warren has tried to do that the most but looking at these top candidates between biden and sanders and bloomberg and more and there isnt a ton of difference on the particular issue of immigration and what we have seen most of them do is pivot most of those questions to pivot in a way that allows them to do french to differentiate themselves from donald trump because thats where the biggest difference is of course is on tween democrats positions on immigration and the republicans are so you talked about the africanamerican vote early and joe biden has of course done well in places like South Carolina North Carolina where theres a launch africanamerican population what are the issues as far as that demographic is concerned what is the what is the most important issue for the africanamerican voter today in america. Yeah look i think that the issues for the Africanamerican Community across the d United States are not not very different from the suburban mom who wants a quality education for for her children they want good jobs in their communities they are. Issues that are important to them as it relates to being able to send their kids to College Without having to mortgage their home or or have their children take on hundreds of 1000. 00 in debt that the issues i think are not indistinguishable from demographic to demographic i think the energy that is being experienced from the Africanamerican Community is one of a demonstration of frustration frustration a feeling like they have been taken for granted in some cases frustration that by the Democratic Party in. That frustration and anger of film like their communities have been ridiculed and attacked like President Trump when he spoke about rat infested baltimore which is a predominantly africanamerican city and so i think that that what were experiencing in terms of the turnout and commitment africanamerican voters in the United States in their demand to be heard in this democratic process is one of frustration and and i think making sure that the Democratic Party and no other party takes their issues or their communities in their votes for granted that is interesting. Ill give you the last word. In washington d. C. To our republican panelists adolfo in washington d. C. Which talks about immigration of course President Trump is no doubt going to be campaigning on his record on the economy which so far is doing well of course it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks with coronavirus and so on but you know if the president relies soley on the economy to prove that hes got what it takes to take americans again for another 4 years on his ride if you will you know what else is there that he can push forward when it comes to the issues that he can rely on if you will. Well beyond the economy which is going to be central of the central i think to any election. Which is very much in the president s favor in my opinion beyond that i think the president speaking about immigration is going to be talking about immigration immigration is a very polarizing issue in the United States there are 2 camps this is a democratic night youre right to be focusing on the Democratic Candidates and whats going out of the Democratic Party but by the same token there is a Republican Party there is a completely different america. There as well that has a very different view of immigration and very much applaud the president s efforts to control illegal immigration president is im an immigrant i wasnt born in the United States where our we are very much for immigration illegal immigration but we want to make sure that illegal immigration is stopped and that we have to reform our immigration laws to bring in more people as the president s message will do so so i think that message is rez resonated i think the immigration issue actually and the broader american not of the Democratic Party and the broader american electorate favors favors the president as does the economy as than his as does his 1st america policy as does what hes doing with respect to afghanistan and keeping his promises Campaign Promises with the trade agreements and the like that he has said since 2016 would be his priorities so i think its a president of the has. The does it whether you agree or disagree with him has kept his promises is the question is whether the majority that agree with him in 2016 will now be expanded beyond it i frankly think president trouble is in a position to win a larger electoral victory than he did in 2016 right well well see what happens i still want to go until november of yes i thank you Adolfo Franco Jennifer Victor and finds that but no thank you very much for your insight for sharing your views with us on this super tuesday election coverage or not just there i thank you very much for time.
