Very high bar so it would take 20 republicans to defect from trump in order to remove him but democrats say theyre certainly going to try their best to present a compelling case if not for the jurors who are the senators at least for the American People and you saw that also in the selection which we just heard announced earlier today of who these 7 impeachment managers will be these are the individuals who are Democratic Congress people there from the house and they will be the prosecutors they will argue the case against you for their Senate Colleagues the 2 who will be leading that charge that effort no surprise there the chairman who weve already heard making these arguments in the impeachment inquiry the other 5 democrats they were selected to really show a consolidation politically behind the democrats efforts you are seeing 3 members of the progressive caucus or seeing a freshman congressman who represents a swing district was one of the pivotal voices who said he would support launching the inquiry that kind of pushed the moderates to take this effort they are the ones who will be making the case now on American Television screens when this trial begins Mitch Mcconnell who is the Top Republican in the senate from now on he will be the one calling the shots and he has told his members that in short order they will receive instructions on exactly when and what these next steps will be. How does the trial got under way in less theres some oh right the trial will get underway by 1st all of the members of the senate and all 100 will be sworn in theyre basically the jurors and the judge the chief justice of the United States john roberts will be the presiding officer and under existing rules the presiding officer would make an initial rulings on relevancy of evidence admissibility of evidence subject to overruling by the whole senate so i believe that if the republicans tried to call hunter biden as a defense witness to the charge that there was a deal with mr zelinsky that he would get his money if he was opening and vesta geishas against the opponents. Trying to help from there would be denied is not relevant to the particular charge but anyway thats how this system would operate under existing rules but remember the senate can change the rules at any time by simple majority vote if we expect as mr mcconnell the majority leader has said that they have the ability to pass his resolution creating the rules what we can anticipate is next week there will be opening arguments made by the house managers this is we evidence this is why these are people offenses they will be opposition that will be presented by mr trump and his defense counsel then there will be questions written questions that will be asked by the senators that will be either to the managers they may or may not call witnesses that i expect will last 4 or 5 days under existing rules from monday through saturday the senate is required to sit all day until the impeachment trial ends i would expect maybe a week of the trial at that point under the mcconnell rules then the senate would decide do we need more documents do we need more witnesses my view is that the republicans believe the American People will be so bored of this because weve not heard anything new and i think its not unusual if you would comment have you heard anything new today when you heard miss pelosi go on ad infinitum its all the same thing it will be boring and theyll expect we just need to get this over and then the last wild card we have i think that if we look at the precedent mr nixon under impeachment we won on def con 3 during the yom kippur war put us on Nuclear Alert to distract attention mr clinton his impeachment ordeal he starts bombing iraq for 6 months just to try to distract attention from his wrongdoing we cant expect mr trump to do anything different a leopard doesnt change its spots it would be incredible do believe that during the impeachment trial in the senate there isnt some kind.
