The when the come out there will be a bloodbath has he thought it through what happens then meanwhile in his speech earlier on friday indias Prime Minister made no mention of kashmir almost there is give our. We belong to a country that has given the world not war but buddhas message of peace and that is the reason why our voice against terrorism to alert the world about this evil rings with seriousness and outrage we believe that this is one of the Biggest Challenges not for any single country but for the entire world and humanity the lack of unanimity among us on the issue of terrorism against those very principles that are the basis of the creation of the u. N. And that is why for the sake of humanity i firmly believe that its absolutely imperative that the world unite against terrorism. Demonstrators in egypt to the gangbang now calling for the resignation of president sisi cafes and shops shot and football matches were perspire and as officials tighten security across the country the protests began a week ago in response to corruption allegations since then human Rights Groups say more than 2000 people have been arrested Stephanie Decker reports. Another narrative in what is just as much a Media Campaign state television showing progovernment protests in the capital president abdel fatah sisi returned to cairo early on friday from the Un General Assembly in new york this welcome posted on his official Facebook Page with the president reassures this crowd that all is well with the market what are you doing here why you got up early on a friday morning life is good and easy you have to know that the egyptians are very aware of how they try to fake the realities and realistic things and deceive the people for the sake of allah and for the sake of you what happened before will never happen again dont worry and dont be worried good morning to you but despite the president s assurances something is happening here waiting out troops all over the streets of cairo now is and we are doing random checks all over the city is a very clear reflection of this governments insecurity. Im joined now by a large sure has the founding director of the Critical Security Studies Program at the heinz achieve full graduate studies what is your flexion on todays events in egypt. Its its a start for more Mass Mobilization i think repression was quite heavy handed so idea that you know the interior ministry took a step back and just firing tear gas instead of rubber boots instead of actual bullets bullets is is not very accurate i think by one estimate there are over 2000 people that were arrested. And that is. The there was preempted strikes basically so all 6. Access points to tahir square were shut down Runcie Square looked like a military barrack with too many on masked men and then civilians with and despite many dangers in the risks that you describe you still think that this could be the that could be a continuation of this sort of mobilization of definitely you know the 1st time the area was taken was in march 28th of march 2003 and then they did move them by force may and then they came and took it into general 201180 years later the issue is that all the Structural Conditions for Mass Mobilization are the intense repression the extreme level of corruption and what you need to do is just to trigger and the trigger was mohamed are these videos will who are the businessmen turned you sensation now he was just a trigger just like that its a day internet blogger who was killed by 2 policemen in june 2010 became the trigger but the same Structural Conditions for Mass Mobilization is that this is policy that is jeems policy for now of course would leave some marginal freedom to. Vent out some of this but that is now diseases like exactly no marginal freedom and hit as hard as you can and today he was just continuing their policy theres no change in the policy but i am not sure how long with that policy last with a country that has 100. 1000000 people over 70 percent are under the age of 35. 00 with this extreme levels of employment poverty an intense intense repression of people getting arrested because they posted a tweet or a Facebook Post that the regime does not like people over or over their sixtys like the University Professors or Political Science professors who 2 of them were arrested recently for you have people even from the military generals i mean and general attitude i mean so even if there isnt necessarily a direct impact from these protests on. The regime itself might it change during a protest as theyre aware that if they keep turning out and they show that sort of determination that apps it will change calculations from within. I think theyre already taken from within but how much how strong are they this is unclear and i think the sure of the welcoming of. You when he came back from from the u. N. Today the idea that you know here is the church is the pope and here is the the as heart of the religious institution and here is the ministry of defense you have the religious duty missy on one end and them and he was saying strictly what happened before will not happen again why because of god and so this is not a very confident. Very convincing talk to many of these young men who are suffering really from either poverty or oppression to give them the thought that you know god is against the demonstrations its not very convincing for these young people from now on my show i thank you. Now in all those stories were following more than 300 people have been rescued from an unlicensed Islamic School in Northern Nigeria some of whom had been held in chains police raided the building in ca do not own photos they morning and found the victims living in extreme conditions any of those rescued which children and showed signs of being tortured they say the school had been operating for 10 years and enroll students to learn the koran and be rehabilitated from drug abuse and other ellis. Nearly 300. 00 former u. S. National Security Officials have signed a letter supporting the democrats impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump trump has been accused of pressuring ukrainian president vladimir selenski to investigate the son of democratic president ial hopeful joe biden supporters of trump of accuse democrats of orchestrating a witch hunt speaking on Us Television the House Speaker nancy pelosi accuse the attorney general william barr of going rogue by supporting President Trump. Well ukraine has confirmed its investigating a gas company linked to joe bidens son but not during the time he was involved the Anticorruption Bureau has been looking into the activities of the Barista Company between 20120122 biden was a director on the firms board from 2014 until last year. Heidi jocasta is live for us in washington and were getting details of a letter from former national Security Officials one of the contents. Well mary im the drafters number of more than 300 and they are former ambassadors they are high level officials in the Intelligence Community in the National Security council most of whom served under president barack obama but also many of whom served under previous republican administrations and as a group they said that in the past they have hesitated to publicly criticize or speak out against President Trump despite some concerns but that quote the revelations of recent days demanded a response President Trump appears to have leveraged the authority and resources of the highest office in the land to invite additional foreign interference into our democratic processes and of course what that is referring to is the july 25th phone call between trump and ukrainian president followed him as alinsky at the time trump was withholding nearly 400000000. 00 of u. S. Military aid that congress had appropriated to give to ukraine but trump on that phone call although he didnt dispute civically link that money to his request he did ask of president zelinsky to launch that investigation into joe bidens son now trump has gone on twitter today defending his call calling it in his words perfect saying that there was nothing dishonorable about it he went on to rage against the media and on democrats who he say are working together on what he calls this witch hunt and in addition he called for the immediate resignation of the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee adam schiff who is now tasked with leading the continued investigation into the president s dealings with ukraine mariyam meanwhile how are the democrats pursuing the inquiry. Well they actually were scheduled to go on recess all of congress their recess starts next week but members of the House Intelligence Committee who have been assigned to spearhead this investigation will remain in washington they have been said to be considering more subpoenas as well as hearings into the next few weeks now House Speaker nancy pelosi has reportedly told members of our caucus that she wants this thing to happen as speedily as possible in a responsible manner of the goal which is to capitalize on public anger while this ukrainian call is still fresh on the american publics mind and rather than dive into the other ongoing investigations that democrats are already involved in with trump things like looking into his finances or a possible obstruction of justice the democrats new strategy is to focus in on these allegations involving ukraine but all of which is to say that even if trump is in peach by the end of november which is what democrats are reportedly aiming for in the Bigger Picture its still very unlikely that trump would be removed from office because in order to do so they would need the support of republicans trumps own party would have to defect from their still very popular president and if you just look at the words of the republican leader in the Senate Mitch Mcconnell he has called these allegations involving trump in ukraine in his words laughable merriam thank you very much with the latest from washington Heidi Cho Castro well now to developments in haiti political unrest over food and fuel shortages shows no signs of abating with protesters putting up barricades and setting fire to police cars in the capital Port Au Prince at least 4 protesters have been killed in recent days as haitians demand the resignation of president john elways the protesters accuse him of failing to deal with deep rooted corruption he is appealing for calm. The ice meant to preserve the vaccines has now been melting for 8 hours if the driver doesnt make it to do go in 16 hours the vaccines will be useless and might as well be thrown away. The 680 kilometer road to kiss a dugu is strewn with potholes few drivers respect the rules of the road accidents are frequent. Even before leaving the capital the drivers patience is tested. The 2 drivers constantly swap over. The boot is not exactly comfortable. 2 more hours a wasted in traffic. The deadline for the vaccine looms. The drivers decide to drive through the night. Since the start of the journey theres been a strong smell of petrol in the car still no one seems concerned. Were going to miss you lance. Whose job it is a simple phone call me something. The petrol fumes might keep the evil spirits away but highway robbers a real threat. Yet you seem a little bit too savvy do you live here in france are picked this up. Your mum didnt believe there are because if i just somebody meet you. This deal youve got a Police Officer for you to follow this guy think that if you do go out of. The stop is a welcome relief to the cramped passengers their bodies a and their stomachs are empty. You. Have got to give them and how do you. Think you were going to what is known. As a precaution they wait until daylight before setting off again. By the Early Morning the vaccines have been on the road for 22. Even so sharif proceeds with caution. Meant. To be on your feet. But now. That you know. Good judgment at these times is critical. The gamble seems to have paid off after 24 hours the taxi arrives in kiss a do good. But luck is against them. The pharmacy is closed the ice has melted and the vaccines urgently need to be refrigerated. But the money going to come up with you know i. For the sake of the big look at my me not you couldnt move them up like you remember you got them well let me out then we got. Up and leave. The pharmacist arrives an hour later he quickly refrigerate the vaccines relief all around. Most villages and some towns in guinea lack the most basic services. Im joined in the studio now by omar shara founding director of the Critical Security Studies Program at the High Institute for graduate studies how would you describe the way in which the police and the military chose to approach or to deal with the protests today its the same policy but there was a bit more preemption it so the usual policy is call it rip you know repression intelligence and propaganda so that oppression was there but it would be emptive they arrested the southern people they didnt shoot which is quite interesting because before that they would they would shoot. And they blocked all the access point turned into like a military barrack of some sort so most of the protest that managed to get out was primarily in upper egypt which is in no way new to mobilize some of the most impoverished cities of egypt. But also the there was intense propaganda of the Armed Forces Just released a statement hour ago statement saying it talking about the achievements in sinai and how they killed 118. 00 terrorists in a matter of week and then why do that now to just a little lazy these protests or any kind of dissenters. As a particular challenge or its part of the propaganda you know that this is why the you know the. Press conference in the morning after he came back from the u. N. Its just mainly no either divert or say this is security straight this is not a political crisis this is not a group of people who are protesting for endemic levels of corruption coupled with intense repression. Laughs i mean that that is nothing to all about its obviously in the past weve seen that the that the regime hasnt hesitated in the use of force and violence against dissent or protesters but it appears that in this case they their preference was to take preemptive preventative measures in order to try and stop that scenario i think part of this because they dont want to fester though to the Structural Conditions that mobilize people on the street if they killed more people than they already have done i think this will be like a spark to mobilize even further the there are more reasons to to come down but if they prevented it from already. Mobilizing an already governessing then i think. It will be less costly in terms of the bloodshed and also potentially think theyre hoping it just goes away but it wont go away because again the structure of the exact conditions that mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in 2011 and started the mobilization in 28003. Its still the 2011 we saw this remarkable moment of unity between so many different groups in this case what do we know about the makeup of these demonstrations obviously that theyre much smaller in scale mean we dont seek to make comparisons. But nonetheless what do we know about who is involved who is turning out in these protests the main difference. Tween now and 2011 is the level of depression it was much much intense its much much intense now compared to 20 levon even under mubarak for mubarak look like mother to these at the moment. This is all one and but on the other end there decentralization what theyre in 2011 there was no clear leadership. Today theres no clear leadership but the main difference is that the number of arrests that you saw across the spectrum from the right to the far left from the you know the islam is all the way to the secularists and the atheists you know saw a lot of people are arrested even from within the military you have people as high ranking as general same man and the former chief of stuff 2nd man in the military junta of 27 hes under arrest for 10 years convicted for 10 years in prison so you have you know within the military ranks and this is new this is compared to what which means that there are more and more people angry from across the political spectrum against the current regime in this mubarak did not have that level of animosity across the spectrum you saw a woman well actually had some supporters that came down in. Mobilized for him as opposed to against him today what we saw the he was calling for in this press conference for people to come and show support and medians to come and true support but there what we actually saw is a few tens to hundreds or many of them were students from the military cadets many many in the military academy who were very close to the to the location of the gathering so i think there are some significant differences but also there are some similarities to 2011 and the main similarity is that the same conditions of corruption repression. That mobilized people on 20 and 27 are still there if not much more more intense in 29 to thank you very much i wash.
