And a Business Plan if there is peace right so the peace has to stand on its own but you cant just sign a Peace Agreement after you know all these years of fighting then all sudden love each other and move on with life you have to be able to articulate what a future is that could be exciting for people if you think about it for the middle east the unifying feature of a lot of the arab world over the last 70 years is the hatred of israel and theyve used that often to deflect from a lot of their own shortcomings internally and so israel is not the cause of the problems throughout a lot of this region throughout a lot of these places the problem is bad governance the problem is lack of opportunity for people and lack of investment in the right way so again what were trying to do here is were trying to figure out what is a framework for moving forward you mentioned the air Peace Initiative i think that was a very very noble effort when it was done 2002 the air Peace Initiative says that there is no military solution to this conflict which i think is a very important recognition that has to be a negotiated solution the parties have tried negotiating for a lot of years it hasnt worked so weve tried to do is figure out a new framework for this to happen the political plan would be very indepth well put that out at the right time and we hope people will judge it on its merits as opposed to rejecting it before they even see it which again is not a rational construct in terms of how to approach trying to make the lives of your People Better so again the purpose of. Is to bring people together show that there is a lot of potential for this region show that a lot of the greatest investors in the world do care about this issue care about the Palestinian People want to be here in the event that we can create a Peace Agreement and a stable environment where capital can be invested and opportunity could be realized now. Ambassador to israel David Friedman has is on the record as saying that he thinks that israel has the right to retain some of the west bank to the palestinians and others in the arab world that is the. A death blow to the. 2 state solution is the 2 state solution still a viable solution for you and for President Donald Trump so right now from unama were focused on the economic aspects of what could be possible if there is a resolution but what i will say is that you know all of the people i speak to you know they talk about the arab Peace Initiative and again it was a it was a great effort but if that was where a deal was going to be made a deal would be made a long time ago i think we all have to recognize that if there ever is a deal its not going to be along the lines of the arab Peace Initiative will be somewhere between the arab Peace Initiative and somewhere between the israeli position and we need to think about what are the fundamental things that are underlying important number one is security right i think the israeli population and the palestinian population and the broader middle east right now cares a lot about have security the more you have security the more you could have freer flow of goods freer flow of people i know thats a very big issue for the palestinians they want to be able to move through the borders i think the cost of goods are too high because it takes a long time to get through the borders but theres a direct correlation between the ramping up of terror and the threat to israel and the slowing down of the borders and so you know if we can create an environment where theres actual peace and again peace comes from compromise and well figure out what the right elements of that are at the right time then that is the necessary precondition to be able to implement a lot of the Economic Reforms that were going to talk about at this conference now the for the palestinians as you know the main problem at this particular point in time they say yes the economys a problem but the main problem is these radio keep patients. What they describe as the lack of real genuine israeli interest in peace they say for example that robina was killed when because he was interested in peace and he was killed by an israeli by not by a palestinian so what do you say to that well i think the there israelis that say that the palestinians have no interest in peace and there are palestinians that say that israelis. No interest in peace thats what a negotiation is people start with different positions they start out with sides and again if we want to find a pathway forward that means both sides have to find a place where they both feel like they can gain more than they give and then move forward and have the opportunities to live better lives this is been spoken about for a long time a lot of the leadership thats been condemning the efforts in trying to tell people how this should be done these are the people that have failed and so you look at where the peoples lives are today versus all the money thats gone into this area over the years it has not trickled down to the people in the way that it should be so i think its time to try something new and again what were trying to accomplish at the naama is were trying to figure out how do we get people to look at this problem through a different lens when i travel through the region i share the Economic Vision with a lot of the different leadership in the different arab and muslim countries and the result was they said this is fabulous this is great work this is fresh thinking what we should do is bring everyone together lets present it lets not make this an american project this make this a regional and a Global Project we can all come together share ideas agree on what it can be and then lets figure out how we can create the right political environments that we can execute it i have one minute left of the time and i really appreciate you telling now after a minute after the work what happens after the minimum. S. Has moved its embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem which had a hugely symbolic impact on these on these talks on u. S. Efforts to facilitate peace between the israelis and the palestinians and it really removed any lasting sense of neutrality that might have been there any semblance of neutrality that might say wont take that longer standing talks between the various sides and it just meant that that if there was to be a move towards peace it could really be facilitated by the u. S. Because it wasnt seen as being a neutral and thus trustworthy partner for the palestinians under the cushion of plan when will crucially the time be right to talk about the political issues here. Well thats Something Else thats a bit of a problem because we dont know we know that he said that he will do it in the future when the time is right and i guess thats contingent on elections in israel we know that Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a great deal of Political UncertaintyPolitical Legal uncertainty there isnt the stability of an Israeli Government at present so perhaps hes waiting for that some are suggesting that hes going to be waiting until november so to release some type of political money if you will in terms of what this this deal might look like on the ground or that would say that there isnt really really a map of what will ready what it will look like in the palestinian territories but rather its just reflecting and representing facts on the ground in terms how things are as they are right now and that its really just about the money as a way of trying to escape this longstanding intractable conflict does that mean on that idea of the political map that youre talking about simon does that mean that slash donald trump they are not pushing for a 2 state solution at all or is there a little bit of pressure on backburner which they will return to what the and their mic is is allowed to throw the success of this multibillion dollar plan. I think thats thats the 1000000 dollar question the 1000000000 dollar question if you will and that deals with questions about where power lies in the relationship not only between trump and person of but also trump and netanyahu the americans and the israelis the extent to which the israelis are able to and so influence over the americans the americans have long said they wanted 2 state solution but what this does is that it doesnt present any real evidence about what the new palestinian state might look like a 2 state solution will require a serious change of truck from the israelis and if if next and yahoo exits a great deal of pressure over trump and exert influence over trump and the americans then theyre not going to be in a position to really do with up particularly given the type of rhetoric that netanyahu was using in these in his previous selects victory if you will which was about 3 occupying the west bank and going more and more into the palestinian territories so i think theres a great deal of uncertainty about the political map and my understanding my analysis of this would be that its more about reflecting facts on the ground which would mean that its not really yet 2 state solution but it is that this serious asymmetry in terms of power that the israeli state would continue to exert sovereign control over the palestinian territories and it may be that is what donald trump understands as a 2 state solution briefly simon very brief him in the headline is 50000000000. 00 worth of investment some very wealthy wealthy people doing that round table thing in bahrain wheres the money coming from amusement to question as a businessman has big Financial Issues himself but because he deals in multimillion multibillion sums of money the world thinks hes a Financial Success arguably his critics might say hes not.
