Well its the fourth vote in four years and effectively it hasnt resolved the central question in all of this is which is which way catalonia believes it wants to go does it really want to go as a majority towards independence a session of the want to stay part of spain the confused and mixed results as you just did details you know the Citizens Party a pro union Party Preview nest party becoming the Biggest Party but not getting enough to form a majority or even form a government on the secessionist parties as a bloc being able to command a parliamentary majority its a mixed bag crucial to all of this i think will be the next stage which is dialogue and now we hear that. The Prime Minister based in madrid is refusing at this point to meet colleagues pushed him or the self. Leader the former president of catalonia but there is going to have to be dialogue to resolve this situation. When all sides claim victory who actually wins its a question katter lands are asking themselves today winning thirty seven parliamentary seats thats only his Biggest Single Party is now the Citizens Party unity leader innes and im out us. But the three main secessionist parties together one seventy seats and so they hold the parliamentary Majority Council only has deposed president colleagues preach them on celebrated in brussels where hed fled to avoid arrest on sedition charges and hes made a new offer to the government in madrid and i get sent eaglesham. The person i would need to sit down with is the winner of the election and thats mr amount us i will make an effort to maintain a dialogue with whatever government comes out of these elections but as ive said before i will also ensure that we follow the law. On polling day voters of all sides spoke to us about wanting a return to normality with the results now in a straw poll of barcelona citizens found dissatisfaction with the outcome. Without favoring one side or another i think theyve hurt catalonia a lot with this independence issue. I think that the Citizens Party which one doesnt represent the majority of catalans i think the majority of people favor the probably independence party. I dont think its a good result lift us parties have been marginalized and i dont see a solution for the differences between two clear blocks. So for now the spotlight appears to be on the attitude of the new Catalan Government i would say they will slightly step back this doesnt mean that they will wait and renounce today independence more but they will i think they got softer approach first because they were slightly less than fifty percent of the vote and they think thats important second because theyre hard line by the iranian government and these elections have produced a rather messy outcome with both sides able to take positives from the results but neither side able to land the kind of knockout blow that they might have hoped for everything now depends on the succession this block and whether they will choose confrontation with madrid or compromise. Because paul a in the lead up to that first vote months ago it was that whole issue about taking a very strong stance and compromise perhaps is the only word that we can use of the moment and one that said in spanish people there and catalan people talking about compromise requires two sides to that do you think do you get a sense that either madrid or barcelona is willing to do that at the moment. Well they have they have a little bit of time i mean were entering the Christmas Period now its Christmas Eve tomorrow its predominantly catholic here in spain and therefore you know the office is shut down there will be a coalition discussions happening behind the scenes even through the holiday period there will be political dialogue going on within the catalan parties there is a deadline of around january the twenty third when the Prime Minister in madrid money another whole he has to swear in the.
