FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Division of Forestry has initiated a burn permit suspension across the Fairbanks area.
According to Tim Mowry, Statewide Public Information Officer, Alaska Division of Forestry Wildland Fire Program, the order was initiated Tuesday at 9 a.m. due to potential increased wildfire dangers, “and what that means is all small and large scale permitted burning is suspended due to high wildfire danger and limited firefighting resources. That means basically no brush or debris burning, no use of burn barrels. You can still have a small campfire three feet in diameter or less. We really discourage that given these conditions. If you are going to have any kind of campfire you need to have water and tools nearby to deal with it and just make sure that it’s fully extinguished before you leave it.”
