Alaska Aerospace loses revenue during pandemic but sees future growth

Like many businesses, the Alaska Aerospace Corp., which runs the Kodiak Pacific Spaceport Complex, did not weather the COVID-19 pandemic unscathed. 
Mark Lester, the CEO of the corporation, said the company has lost 45% of its revenue during the pandemic. 
In a presentation to the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly last week, he said he expects the decrease to continue into 2022 following the delay of several government contracts. 
The company had to lay off and furlough some of its employees due to the decreased revenue. 
Lester, who said he also took a pay cut, noted that 70% of the layoffs and furloughs were from the corporate side of the company.
