Alachua County added no new deaths and 28 new COVID-19 virus cases to its totals in Friday's state health department report.
The county's fatalities from the virus remained at 275, and the total number of cases now stands at 24,635.
Forty-five patients at Alachua County hospitals had a primary diagnosis of COVID-19 — down from 50 the previous day, according to data from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Hospitals had about 17% available capacity.
Statewide, Florida reported 5,306 new cases for a total of 2,233,518.
The University of Florida's coronavirus testing and case dashboard includes positive case totals dating back to March 2020.
Seven students or staff tested positive Wednesday, and there were 227 new campus cases reported in April. Spring semester commencement ceremonies began this week and run through the weekend.
