A Huntsville, Ala., police officer has been found guilty of murder for fatally shooting a man who had a gun to his own head and was threatening suicide.
William “Ben” Darby, 28, faces between 20 years and life for the murder of Jeffrey Parker in 2018, a jury ruled Friday.
Parker called police on April 3, 2018, claiming he was armed and suicidal, according to AL.com. Huntsville Officer Genisha Pegues responded first and began to try deescalating the situation.
But when Darby arrived on the scene, he immediately began yelling at Pegues to “point your f--king gun at him,” according to body cam footage.
