After the success of a three-year pilot project, Airdrie council has given the go-ahead for backyard hens in the city.
Residents will now be able to apply for a development permit to house two to four hens, based on lot size, after City Council formally approved amendments to Land Use Bylaw No. B-01/2016.

Council gave all three readings to Land Use Bylaw No. B-08/2021 following a presentation by Senior Planner Gail Gibeau and a public hearing held the same evening, which received no responses.
