Air Senegal has firmed up plans to launch its first route to the US, with flights set to begin in September.
The state-owned airline intends to introduce a route between Dakar and Washington via New York. Service will be 2X-weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays using Airbus A330-900 aircraft.
MD Ibrahima Kane said the flights would help to “strengthen the solid economic and socio-cultural ties” between Senegal and the US.
The route, which begins on Sept. 2, will depart Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International (DSS) at 1.30 a.m., arriving in New York John F Kennedy (JFK) at 6 a.m, where inbound passengers will clear US customs. Flight HC407 then leaves JFK at 8.30 a.m. to arrive in Washington Dulles (IAD) at 10 a.m. The return leg departs IAD at 8.25 p.m., arriving in JFK at 9.55 p.m. Flight HC408 leaves New York at 11.55 p.m. and returns back to Senegal’s capital at 12.25 p.m. the following day.
