A boat explosion left a trail of destruction across an upmarket marina with a woman onboard barely escaping with her life.
The huge explosion shook houses several suburbs away from Newport Anchorage Marina, on Sydney's northern beaches, about 8pm on Saturday.
The 57-year-old woman was by herself lying down on a couch inside the 14m vessel at the time of the blast which shook nearby houses.
'She was asleep on the yacht and she's heard a big bang and then she's managed to get off the boat where she's been assisted by another female to a safe area,
' NSW Ambulance Chief Inspector Darren Hoschke said.
