After ousting Ramirez, Victorville City Council can't agree on how to fill vacancy
Victorville Daily Press
The Victorville City Council failed to reach a consensus on how to fill a vacant seat on the dais earlier this week, a stalemate that, if it continues, could lead to a governing body without a fifth member until next year.
The 2-2 vote and failed motion came Tuesday after Councilwoman Elizabeth Becerra and Mayor Debra Jones voted to appoint a new council member and Mayor Pro Tem Leslie Irving and Councilwoman Blanca Gomez voted against it.
The seat was vacated when a majority of the City Council voted to remove Councilwoman Rita Ramirez from office on March 2 after determining she hadn’t lived in the city for more than half a year.
