According to media reports, the police in Algeria prevented a pro-democracy protest from taking place at the Algiers, on Friday.
A photographer from AFP who was taking pictures of the events has been identified as one of the people that were arrested at this rally.
The reporter mentioned that as stressful as the situation was, they were well taken care of after eight hours in detention with no plausible explanations.
For Algeria, protests returned in February 2021 after being suspended for around a year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Algerian police prevented a pro-democracy protest rally from taking place in the capital Algiers on Friday and detained several people including journalists, among them an AFP photographer, AFP correspondents said.
