US President Joe Biden had announced last month that forces would stay in the country for months beyond May and withdraw by September 11.
Security source says city has been placed on "high alert".
Taliban spokesman says passing deadline has opened the way for fighters to take every counter-action they deem appropriate.
KABUL: Afghan authorities on Saturday increased the security in Kabul as the country is expecting a reaction from the Taliban over Joe Biden's failure to meet the May 1 troop withdrawal deadline agreed by his predecessor in 2020.
