Affidavit: Priest invokes connections with 'al otro lado' at bar prior to fight

A Diocese of Laredo priest who was “highly intoxicated” shouted he knew people “al otro lado,” or from the other side, as he wanted to start a fight at a local bar, according to an arrest affidavit.
The case unfolded when Laredo police officers responded to a fight in progress at about 2:35 a.m. June 28 in the 3200 block of San Eduardo Avenue. First officers on the scene encountered two men. One man identified as Jose Angel De Leon, 36, was getting up from the ground. Asked if he was fine, De Leon allegedly replied in an aggressive tone, “I’m not fine, can’t you see?” states the affidavit.
