Sarah Griffiths talks to Helen Jones about her work as a GP and facilitator in palliative care for Stockport Foundation Trust

Sarah Griffiths decided to become a GP when she was working as a volunteer at her local Citizens Advice Bureau. “I’d finished a degree in biology and was taking a year out, but I realised I liked sitting in a room, not knowing who was going to come in or what they needed help with, so I applied for medicine.”

She adds, “I’m not sure I would have been mature enough to do medicine at 18, but with my volunteering experience I was much more worldly wise and able to chat to patients without being frightened.”
