Advisers have proved their worth against robo threat

Sometimes advisers seem to have a sixth sense.
I have a client, still a practising lawyer, who is reaching 75. He has a very old pension that cannot be held beyond 75 and, at his request, the provider sent him a transfer value — a reasonable five-figure sum.
As he still works he does not need the income, and wanted to have it moved into his employer’s scheme. Nothing had been given to him to support the guaranteed annuity rate I expected might exist but, after several targeted enquiries, the insurer relented and apologised, and we’re now in the process of claiming the valuable guaranteed income. Without our intervention, I am confident this would be missed.
