Action on abortion survivor bill deferred after last-minute proposed amendment

A bill that would require medical providers to give the same care to babies born out of botched abortions as they would to babies born in other situations is on pause for lawmakers to consider a last-minute amendment proposed Monday morning. 
The bill, House Bill 1051, was deferred by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee to be heard Wednesday. 
Mitchell Rave, a lobbyist for Sanford Health, submitted to the committee on Monday morning an amendment that would include palliative care, or comfort care, as an option for medical providers and families after the baby is born.
