“People are pretty annoyed at some of the things that are going on at the moment.
“What has surprised me is the anger out there to be honest – people really have had a gutsful of being treated like fools and losing their rights.”
Baillie said with regard to Government regulations, it wasn’t just farmers feeling the pinch.
“ACT attended Groundswell and fully supported farmers, but it's not just farmers affected by the SNA (Significant Natural Area policy).
“They have a lot of compliance stuff they are finding unbearable, but small businesses are just being hammered at the moment.”
On the subject of education, he said many at the meeting were also concerned about what their kids were learning at school – particularly on learning the basics of literacy and numeracy.
