Brandon Smeltzer, 27, confessed to killing the mother of his young child in October 2018 and dumping her body in a Lancaster cornfield the next day. Emilie Maheu was 26 at the time of her death and was found by a local farmer. Smeltzer is accused of planning the murder and faces life imprisonment with no possibility of parole for at least 25 years if convicted.
