A man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle more than $480,000 in crystal meth through International Bridge 2, states an arrest affidavit.
Ever Lizando Cortez, a U.S. citizen, arrived on April 30 at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge driving a gray Chevy Impala. He was referred to secondary examination due to a computer-generated alert, according to court documents.
A K-9 inspection resulted in the alleged positive alert for the presence of a narcotic odor. Further, an X-ray inspection yielded anomalies in the trunk area and undercarriage.
“At this point, the vehicle’s undercarriage was drilled, resulting in the discovery of a white powdery substance that was field tested with a positive result for crystal methamphetamine,” states the affidavit.
